The twice-annual nutty-cheap CI sale is going again.

Any opinions on these, guys? Haven't had 'em yet:

1. AJ Fernandez Rosa de Guadalupe Toro
2. Camacho Scorpion Sun Grown Robusto

Thanks for any opinions and reviews.

Have a look at the sale, remember to subtract $20 (value of the Bucks card you'll get) from all the prices to get the net price for each 10-pack.

Promo code "FATHER" will get you free shipping, too!

Promo code "PALIO" will get you a triple-torch lighter. The order value threshold to qualify is actually about $80, which is considerably lower than the $105 they claim it is.

Here are some of the net prices for notable 10-packs (as of time of this writing):

$10 for Bueso Genesis Toro
$10 for AB American Sun Grown Robusto
$10 for Obsidian Belicoso
$10 for PDR Habano Sun Grown Torpedo

$15 for Diesel UHC Belicoso
$15 for Camacho Scorpion Sun Grown Robusto

$20 for Man O' War Ruination 6x60
$20 for La Gloria Cubana Serie R Black No. 58
$20 for Nub Habano Sun Grown Double Perfecto
$20 for AJ Fernandez Rosa de Guadalupe Toro

$25 for H. Upmann by AJ Fernandez Toro

$30 for Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic 1979 Robusto
$30 for Drew Estate Undercrown Maduro Gran Toro
$30 for Aging Room Quattro F55 Concerto S
$30 for Perdomo Champagne Sun Grown Robusto

I've only had the Scorpion SG rott but seemed pretty good. Nice spice to it with some underlying sweetness

Thanks Puddin.

Yeah, hard not to snag some of those deals when the net price ends up being so low.
Also, didn't know the code "FATHER" deal either, so thanks for that as well.
Always have this and their Labor Day sale on my radar, along with a pretty good sale
for Halloween and again right before Christmas.

Haven't tried the AJ RdG or the Scorpion, so can't help ya there.
Ever tried the Partagas Cifuentes Maduro, Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic,
Aging Room Quattro F55 or La Palina Paley's Vault? Any thoughts?

Been trying to clear room in my humis, but I'm having trouble with my will power.

Thanks!

No problem, glad to help.

Of your list I've had the Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic. It's good, but I personally prefer the blue label Pepin. Good deal at this price though. Also I've had the Aging Room, and it was good but not outstanding. Again though, seems like a good deal at this price.

Thanks for the info!

I actually may sit this one out and wait for them to do it again in December. I have too many cigars already and I like money. But I wanted to tell you guys here about it!

I am going dumpster-diving this time and grabbing the Padilla Cazadores for $17.50 (net - $2.50!) And using the gift card later for something nicer.

Actually at $1.75, the Padilla is a fine yard-gar and perfect for me to have on hand for several outdoor parties we give each summer where the brothers-in-law (8 of them!!!) and a few others mooch a twice-a-year cigar. After first time they did this where several of them tossed a good cigar into the fire pit after only a third of the way through, I keep smokes like this on hand.

Free shipping makes this an easy call!

Of the nicer smokes, I like the Aging Rooms and the Pepins a lot. The Partagas was good but I bought some on Cbid for $2.50 each including shipping so that deal is not so hot. The Scorpions and DE Dark intrigue me.

Can you explain this "weird" net sale thing in easier terms?

How can you use more than one "promo code"?

Many internet sites only take ONE CODE?

WHY MAKE IT SO HARD?

JUST LOWER THE FREAKIN PRICE AND NO NEED FOR AN MBA OR MATH SCIENCE MAJOR TO EXPLAIN TO A GROUP OF YOUR BEST CUSTOMERS....

makes zero sense to me....you want to move product?
Lower the price and advertise it...why make a stupid confusing math project out of a cigar sale...especially for tired and over worked fathers?

Dumbo marketing if you ask me.

It's not REALLY "Net." You cannot use the $20 gift card on this order. So you are paying the price listed for the 10 cigars and then will get the gift card to use on a future order.

It's only a "net" price in a sense if you would be ordering from CI in the future anyway - even without a gift card. In that case you overall get a great deal.

If it causes you to buy something you otherwise would not but you are doing it because you now have a discount, it might be a good deal, just depends. In that case you have to subtract the $20 "cigar bucks" from the total price of the two purchases to come up with what you are spending overall and then see if you did well.

Now, if you take that $20 gift card and use it to overpay for something you shouldn't buy in the first place, like MSRP Gurkhas. Well, then, the Mothership wins...

EXAMPLE:

Padilla Cazadores Robusto 10pk - $17.50
comes with a free $20 CI Buck Card

So think of it this way -
You walk into the CI Cigar Shop.
You grab the Cazadores and hand them $17.50
They give you back a $20 bill, but you can only use it at the CI Cigar Shop when you come back.
You're gonna come back at some point

When all is said and done, with buying the Cazadores(at a very good price),
it's essentially like they handed you a $20 coupon for a future purchase.
_____

As far as the promo codes, if you go to your cart, scroll down to just above the sub-total.
There is a line to enter the promo code. Enter it and hit "Apply"
It will accept the code and list it along with your items.
There still will be a line to enter another promo code if you have one.
Continue to enter the code, continue to hit "Apply"

The Cazadores are the sweet spot for me on this deal because:

1. They are worth the $17.50 for 10 (with free shipping) even without the deal.*
2. I need to get them - or something just like them - anyway. Just had not got around to it yet, but I would have.
3. I was about to place an order for something I wanted (even had it sitting in my Cart!), but now I am waiting until i get the gift card, so will save $20 on what I was about to buy anyway!

So, for me, its even better than a $2.50 coupon, it really is a $20 saver for me!

*That's real important with a promotion like this. If the base price for the 10 pack is not a good deal to begin with at the stated price, then that cuts in or eliminates the value of the gift card. In others words, you need to be willing (or very close to willing) to buy the 10 pack for the price WITHOUT the gift card to get the real value of the gift card. The Cazadores do that for me, but not some of the others. For, example, I have gotten the Partagas ones here on Cbid for $2.50 a piece with shipping so the $37.50 for them is not so hot.

I think the Ramon Bueso Genesis at $29 for 10 (again with the shipping promo) is a good price as well...BUT at almost $3 a cigar that is what I can get the OMB3's for and almost what I can get the much much better 101's for at that other place so that is not a deal I would be doing right now without the gift card.

So... its Cazadores for me!

I'm liking the H. Upmann by AJ toros at $2.50 each net. This is a really good stick. Then use "FATHER" for free shipping. Buy two (to surpass $80 order value) and get a free triple-torch lighter with code "PALIO" and a free Gurkha 5-pack (to hand to moochers at your parties, or to use as garden mulch) with code "GOVERNOR". All three codes are stackable (at least as of this writing).
