Don't get me wrong... I think this is the nicest, most generous group of people I've ever run into(Even Tiger was nice at first:-). But, when it comes to politics, I've seen so many people get into screaming matches irl and online that I just can't believe that after spitting so much vitriol at each other that they can just go grab a beer later. That probably says more about me than them but, to me at least it feels different these days..... There is an underlying feeling of violence (BLM, Antifa, Proud Boys, etc) in the political back and forth. Today's generations are the least tolerant I've seen in my lifetime. Maybe I'm watching too many video's of protests and debates, who know's. When it comes to people in general I'm not the most optimistic person. But, I am admittedly shocked and pleasantly surprised you guys can separate the politics from the rest. I know for me it's not that easy. Gives me something to think about.

Have you ever fasted from the news for a week? Compete fast... No tv news, no Google news, no newspapers...

Just spend a week where your perception of the current state of the world can be crafted entirely from personal experience...

You might find the American people don't argue anywhere near as often as our enemy would have us think...

I concur about politics not defining many people here...I've met several CBidders who are cons and who disagree often with my lib viewpoints in the politics board, but we are good friends and I've enjoyed their company...several have had opportunities to permanently shut me up, but have chosen not to throw me over-board while we fished in deep waters...we discovered we have much more important things in common than we have political differences...it's never personal for me...

My hands kept cramping up last year and Drafter wouldn't help me lift you over the rail... Said he was on vacation, whatever that means....

I've been working on back strength, so maybe if we get out there this year I'll give it a shot...

I think I'm going to try this but for at least two weeks. I know once I stopped watching TV it didn't take long for me to not miss it. Also means I'll have to avoid certain people in my life which, now that I think about it, might do some good too. ThxBeer

I used to say there wasn’t anyone in here I wouldn’t herf with and I meant it. I’m still there for the most part, but there have been a couple people that have proven themselves to be so far out there I’d prefer not to be in the same room with them. In those cases (and I literally mean a couple) they’ve said things extremely bigoted or whacked out, and convinced me that they were not joking but serious. I’d be ashamed to be seen with them and in one case convinced me they were not stable. I’d feel smoking one with them would be condoning who they are. Again it’s a rare couple folks and I haven’t seen much of them lately. But if there was a herf including them I’d have better things to do.

Politics doesn’t do that. Differing opinion on that doesn’t phase me. When folks become comfortable spewing certain things that goes well beyond the politics of any particular party and into an area devoid of integrity or decency then yes I draw a line, especially when they just assume everyone thinks that way and anyone that doesn’t is *insert derogatory statement here*. My line is admittedly more forgiving than most and I will tolerate things others may not. But once someone gets there I’ve pretty well decided they ain’t right and are best not in my sphere.

But in the end, for most people their politics doesn’t define them and that doesn’t come through well sometimes in this medium. And to be clear I’d smoke one with most everyone in here.

I know I'll never let Frank and my wife be in the same room together.... "Hi Mrs Daly my name's Frank but you can call me tripod." 27 years down the drain with one sentence....
