Obviously the Raptors deserve to be there, but it sure would have been better if both teams were at full strength.

Not having KD playing is making it easier on them.

Where’s _____ going next year?

Players deciding to team up

“Branding”

Some players interest in social justice and political activism

The league dominated by black players

The commissioner being a “players” commissioner.

Lots of reasons good bad and indifferent that people have lost interest. I think it’s too bad as the NBA has never had this many stars in the league it’s pretty impressive.

Kuwai is a man child out there.....wish KD was healthy as he would be negating Ibaka and Siakam. I’m kind of perplexed with Draymond’s shooting which seems to have gone to pot. I think we’re seeing the toll the western conference has taken on GSW compared to the path the Raptors had outside the Bucks. I’ve been working so much I haven’t gotten to watch one single game.

Nick nurse was playing for my school while I was an undergrad. Kurt Warner was on the bench but that was a couple years later I think.

Now Nick is hangin with Canadian wrappers and stuff.

I think that the teaming up of players will eventually be such a detriment to the league it will have to figure out a better way to block it than to give super max contracts. People like competition and teams like the Warriors are not the fans favorite. I think the league would benefit greatly by having a superstar on every team. The NFL has figured it out in that department. The lottery is also a joke, they should keep it simple and draft by regular season records.

I think that the Raptors had a much tougher time getting tot he finals than the Warriors imo. The west was not as strong as people perceive it to be. Houston was worse than last year with a terrible defense and Harden their only consistent scorer. Chris Paul should not be considered among the league's best players anymore, age and injuries have caught up to him. Other than them the Blazers were a lock to lose, while Kahwi had to beat a Sixers team that might have played below their talent but still pushed them to the final shot of game 7. A Bucks team that had the regular season best record and one of the most athletic players in the NBA.

Lebron is gone but I think the east got better without him. I thought the Raptors would steal 1 game because Kawhi is just that good, but this is the perfect storm for Toronto. Injuries and great play are making them look like the best team this series!

this is the most enlightened league of all. They have tapped into the World marketplace like no other (soccer isn't big enough yet here to count).

Their players just might have the lowest percentage of drug test failures, in game brawls, off the court garbage, domestic violence...I may be wrong but can't recall much trouble in years.
Part of the reason is the players are actually partners in the league's success,
nothing like having an equity stake to keep crap from ruining things. The calls to rein in the players is saying for the owners to clamp down...I think that is backfiring in the popularity of other sports that dominate players and contracts.

and they are probably the finest athletes in the world.

It's not Durant's absence, they are playing tremendous defense and catching a team that has had a glorious run and is just a step past peak.

It's not over, LeBron beat a younger Warriors team a few years ago down 3-1 (am I correct?).
And if G.S. can force a game 7, will make this year even greater.

Too bad the Celts banked on Kyrie to step up like the modest superstar Leonard has done. This may have been the year to end the Warriors' reign.

I disagree. It IS Durant's absence. Toronto hasn't blown them out, they've just done enough to win each game... against an injured team without its best player.

Sorry, Frankie... you'ze wrong on this one.

If ifs and buts were cake and nuts .....

I think golden state is tired. The number of playoff games they’ve played over the last several years took their toll. Maybe no blowouts, and typical NBA finishes but the tank seems empty to me. The raptors have that next gear.

And I do not think Durant would tip the scale. How much of his injury is the result of the grind anyway. It’s not as if he would be 100% anyway given all of the above.

All that aside GS can still win this if they dig deep. That’s what true champions do.

Durant would shut down Saikem. Period. So outside Kawhi you have Green and Lowery scoring which isn’t that scary.

Not even close to hockey on all of those counts (outside of the in game brawls which is part of the game). Finest athletes too, their conditioning is phenomenal and what they can do on 1/8” of steel blades is incredible. And when 6’9” 250lbs. of chiseled muscle flops on the court from a phantom foul and needs to be carried off the court by several teammates the hockey player that loses a handful of chicklets comes off to get stitched up and right back out there without missing 2 shifts.

KD? If he was an NHLer he’d be out there playing with an undisclosed lower body injury and Khawi wouldn’t even be in Toronto because he’d have played in San Antonio and not worked his way out of town on what his teammates thought was a bogus injury.

NBA games are 3 1/2 quarters of meaningless activity.
Then the final 90 seconds take 25 minutes.
98.2% of the players have never even heard of an offensive rebound.

So while the players have become more gifted shooting the ball from further away, the game has changed.
If that's the style you like, great.
Just not my cup of tea unless I have a horse in the race.

When I was young we were told not to watch the pros because we’d pick up bad habits and wouldn’t have the basic fundamentals down. Since that time the gameplay and what the actual rules and fundamentals are couldn’t be further apart. The selective rules enforcement, the extra step Jordan was given has grown to multiple steps and multiple pivot feet to the palming/carrying the ball and onward. That crap has now filtered down and ruined the college game and levels below.

Durant is awesome and would lift them no doubt. I’m not saying differently if it’s a fresh Durant or a non injured Durant both of which are dubious with the grind.

GS can still win this and Durant could provide a spark. But I don’t think he’s the Durant of last years finals at the moment injury or not. And fatigue causes or prolongs injuries. Catch 22.

Give Toronto props. It’s not like the NFL. These are series. The best team normally wins.

I can’t believe we actually agree on something. Don’t like the current style of play.
Love the old style of D that the teams played along with the offensive sets they used.

they won without him, they won with him, back to basically the same key players from when they won without him.

obviously any team that adds Durant is a better team, but Toronto's strategy has been to let the big guns score and totally shut down the second tier that has been such a key to their success over the last 5/6 years. Durant's points might just mean less for Curry and Thompson, certainly less for the other starters and bench guys who have not done much as it is.

and G.S. had like 10 days to rest,. Tired ain't what your seeing...it's frustration and disbelief that the magic has been figured out. They may still cough it up, but we are seeing a team that has figured it out. It was bound to happen.

And claiming they are the greatest athletes in the world does not mean they have to run marathons to prove it. Nor does it mean other sports don't have amazing athletes. Skating hard for 3 minutes at a time is very hard. But I'm talking about finely conditioned giants hanging and shifting in mid air, running 90 feet back and forth over and over, the best of them for 40 and more minutes a night with a minute break here and there.

When you have played more total games by far that any other team over the last 5 years 10 days rest at the end of a grueling season at best is a drop in the bucket. At worst it has a negative effect. I think their legs look dead compared to their usual.

But I do agree with most of what you are saying on most everything else.

I LOVE the National Bakers Association. It's like this, as a kid I played Baseball, Football and Hockey. When it came to basketball I couldn't resist wanting to crush the guy with the ball. I would constantly get called for fouls and that was frustrating as hell. So, if I didn't play it, I didn't care about it. The entire NBA could sink on a cruise and it wouldn't affect me one bit. I would feel bad for any sea life affected by a giant cruise ship suddenly entering their lives.

I would have but there was no gym in my neighborhood and going to Fraiser's gym would have been suicide considering the neighborhood it was in. I was built for it too. I am a huge fan of boxing though and even managed to get stinking drunk with Manny Stewart up at Caesars Resorts where Lennox Lewis trained. My God he HATED Don King. Like an hour long drunken ramble about how much he hated him. The dude drinks nothing but white wine. Orders a glass and downs it, wash, rinse, repeat for HOURS.

No local Y at all. There aren't many in Philly that I know of and our local rec center focused on baseball. It"s something I've always regretted. Oh well. 49 now and my time has passed. Tried to get the boy involved but if it wasn't video game boxing he wasn't interested. I wish MMA was around when I was a kid.

What does The Town mean on the GS jerseys?

Toronto's slogan "We the north" makes English teachers shudder.

I half expected GS to have We Iz South or something equally inane.

Gave up when Barkley was the last Sixer I loved. That coupled with adding a Georgetown thug guard, I checked out.

See they are reasonable good again. Watched them twice for 5 minutes each time, then left disinterested again.
