Wow, it's great to see so many trying a healthier life style. Congrates to all those who are eating heathier and losing weight. Everyone is different, and what works for some may not work for others. You have to do what works for you. With that said, here's my story.

I was approaching 300 lbs. in June 2003. I finally had enough of it and read Atkin's book cover to cover 3 times. Donna and I started a lean protein version of Atkins with tons of low carb vegetables. We became very proficient in making low carb baked goods using soy protein powders, vital wheat gluten, erythritol and sucralose. By January 2004 (7 months), I was down to 190 lbs. and Donna had gone from a size 18 to a size 5.

We maintained our weight for close to 10 years doing Atkin's maintenance, adding in whole grains, brown rice and moderately starchy vegetables.

The high use of soy products and vital wheat gluten finally took it's toll on me, and I developed multiple food allergies. I had to abandon Atkin's Maintenance in 2013 for a diet free of soy, gluten, corn, tree nuts, legumes and nightshades.

Overtime, the weight came back for both of us. Last summer we decided to go on a super clean low carb diet, while trying to avoid my allegiants. Now that we are both in our early 60's, we found the going extremely difficult and had disappointing results. Donna's friends kept telling her about Ketogenics, and after my usual intense research,in October we decided to give it a try. We're currently doing Clean Keto (grass fed/finished beef, pasture raised pork, chicken and eggs, wild caught Salmon and other healthy fish, grass fed dairy, organic olive, coconut and avocado oil, organic vegetables and berries, organic bone broths, etc.) We also added in Intermittent Fasting. I'm down over 50 lbs. with 10 lbs. to go. Donna is down 30 lbs. with a couple more to go.

Odd.... was on the road last week, so couldn't really exercise. And I ate a bunch of crap...

But weighed in at 218.... Did an hour of some training class and just shy of a mile swim. ...

I guess being in the field all day helped.

As men get older you should increase protein as much as you want. Stay away from most fruit and eat your veggies and if you REALLY want to drop weight fast avoid anything with grain or anything made with flour. No rice, no bread. Go ahead and eat all the potatoes etc you want and absolutely avoid anything that has artificial sweeteners. Real sugar is better for you than any artificial sweeteners. Artificial sweeteners are immediately stored as fat because the body doesn't recognize them as food. Anything your body doesn't recognize is immediately stored in fat. Lifting weights will help more than all the cardio in the world for men to. When I started doing this I didn't move an extra muscle and kept up my Pepsi addiction and still dropped 30lbs in NO time at all

I've been hovering between 202 and 210 for several years now. I probably really should be 190 - 195 though. My mind just won't let me get under 200... if I see 200, I get hungry.

90° 70% humidity down here that was a fun 2 miles going to try and go a little further every day. I was up to 5 miles when the weather was cooler. I do alot of walking at work so when I get off at 5 in the afternoon its good and hot. Thats when I get to run during the weekdays after being in a diecast plant all day.

Gonna use this to hold myself accountable. 6 weeks in. Only unprocessed food, portion control, balanced meals. 15,000 steps a day. Started at 265, down to 244. My goal is 1 to three pounds per week. My long term goal is under 200 lb. Anyone else wants to join in feel free.

Outstanding. I'm down to 189 from 240. Lots of grilled chicken, fruit (clementines), veggies. Beer on weekends only, that is my true vice. Moderate exercise. It's working pretty well and is sustainable. Good website is www.myfitnesspal.com by underarmour. Free to sign up and use, it's helped me a lot. Almost every food you can think of is in that database. Way easy to use.

Well, I started physical therapy here a few weeks ago. About damn time I found some Drs that felt I really needed it. I started at 232 lbs. I am now at 208. Food has not changed at all just the fact of actually getting some exercise I guess.

The pain in the shoulder from the heart surgery has not improved as of yet but thats 5 years I gotta make up for. Not to sure if the pain will get better but I should gain some movement back in that arm or flexibility I should say. The pain in the hip they don't think will get any better as they think it is arthritis. They do think that over time I will gain some of the balance back from the stroke. We can say it won't be due to a lack of effort. Today I go back again for another 2 hours of workout so I guess I should get my arse in the bed and sleep a little. I did make sure I got my old school basketball shorts all washed up and ready to go. You know those ones that was orange and silky looking and ya right nut hangs out the side. Also got my knee high tube socks out and ready with the two red stripes up top. Man I am looking sharp! I still feel like chit most of the time but atleast I look good in my old stylish work out gym shorts. Herfing

Anyone here try weight watchers? My pops is down 25 lbs over the course of about a month and a half... And more importantly, got to ditch his bp medication!

Mom and mil are both losing with it too...

For those not aware of the "new" ww system, you can literally eat anything you want... Every food in the world is assigned a point value... The you're given X amount of points each day that you can consume in whatever form of food You want...

The best thing about this form of weight loss is you never go hungry, ever... Eggs are zero points, chicken breasts are zero points, fish is zero points...

Just thought I'd pass it along... Pops is 5'8" and probably close to 250 when he started this... I'm proud of him and glad he found a system that works well and isn't a diet...

Down to 187 as of this morning. Just keep keeping on. I pretty much stick to my plan during the week, punch out a bit on weekends but nothing over the top. Balance. And time.
