Well, I just finished this with a glass of WhistlePig Old World Cask Finish 12 Year Rye.
Good cigar. Definitely spicy, a bolder cigar for sure. I'd like to do the whole "hints of cinnamon and ...... whatever, but my palate really isn't that refined yet.
But I liked it, it's a nice cigar. It had a good flavor, and the after lingering finish was actually nice. I did pick up a hint of barrel. That flavor I recognize. It's not an in your face flavor, but there is a hint of that charred wood in there.
Once I got it smoked that is.
My biggest impression when all is said and done, is that it is one hard drawing cigar. I'll have to try a few more, but that's a 3 puffer to get a good pull. One to prime it, one to get it down to the end, one got actually get a good hit. It was like that pretty much down to the last 1/3 I'd say. I definitely had to work it to get good smoke.
It burned well, nice and even, good ash formed. But like I said, it was a hard pull. Now, I did just get them in the mail yesterday, so I cut the foot of the cello off and put them in the humidor. They may get better with some "settling down time"? We'll see I guess.
Anybody else had a similar experience with these?
