Newbie here,

I've got my humidor at 64% and 70°f, Seasoned it when I first got around 3 years ago and haven't touched it since. I am getting back into cigars and have 2 boveda 69% packs in there. I have 3 orders coming in, a 12 pack sampler, 6 pack Sampler and a 10 pack Tabak.

Just wondering if there is anything else I need to do maintenance wise to my humidor before loading it up?

PS. Even with the 2 boveda packs and those numbers my cigars always seem rather dry and crack (granted they were cheap cigars) Hence the concern.

Any advise would be great !

What kind of hygometer do you have analog or digital and have the salt test to see how accurate it is ?

Answer this fast before my friends show up if they show up first put a rain coat on.

welcome to the madhouse, hillary... the two Boveda 69 should be fine for 25-30 cigars...keep them in the humi...if you want to raise the humidity in the humidor, fill a shot glass with water and put it in the humidor, then remove it when your shipment comes in...if the Tabaks are an infused/flavored variety, you should keep them separate, or risk having the other cigars acquire some off flavors...plastic tupperware containers work well as inexpensive humidors for cigars

Welcome fellow Noob! Enjoy the craziness!. Don't know if you already know this but, you use the packs based on how many cigars your humidor can hold, not how many are in there.

More cigars make it EASIER to maintain humidity if they’re normal when you get them as they HAVE humidity. That makes LESS AIR for your device to have to manage.

I did the salt test when I first purchased my humidor and calibrated it. Left it alone until last year when I bought the Boveda Butler and did their test kit. And been using that ever since.

I only season my humidor with Romaine lettuce.

Also if you have any questions that you might think are silly, private message jaderose he is the official “new guy guide”.

Another tip, get familiar with the search function (it’s not great butt)

The Humidor I currently have is a 50 count.

Within the past few week on Cigarbid I have purchased more than 50 cigars lol.

So new problem has arisen, I need a bigger Humidor.

Best Humidor under $200? any suggestions. Cigar Cooler? Wood only?

Thanks in advance

Options are varied. You can go humidor, convert a wine cooler or old fridge, create a coolidor, and/or tupperdor, etc.More recently a gun safedor has popped up as well as rumored plans for a churchador. Do some searches through the threads for various tidbits of info. I would, as well as many here, estimate high. Once the Cigar Acquisition Disorder takes hold, you'll want some space to store your smokes

I know for a fact that I want a Wood Humidor or an Electric one. I don't really want to invent something even though I know Collidors are legit. I always have guests over and want/need something presentable.

LMAO ! Roger that. How easy is it to manage a coolidor? Also what is the ratio of Boveda packs (60g) per cigars?

25 cigars per 60g Boveda?

I have about 600 cigars in cooler, I use kitty litter and 69% 60 gram Bovedas(about 12-15),and a couple of the gel jars, and humidity stays pretty solid at 67- 68%....all I've really had to do for months, about 8 or so, is pull out some smokes and put them in the wooden humi every week...cooler cigars get moved around and rotated while I search for the humi filler...check the hygrometers(3 scattered about) and your good to go until next refill

If, when you say “presentable,” you mean something nice and well made, nothing wrong with sticking with your current humidor (...for purposes of this discussion, let’s assume it is “presentable”...) and augmenting your storage capacity with a cooler, Tupperware, wineador or an electric cigar humidor.

If you’re thinking more along the lines of “impression,” then there’s nothing more impressive than showing your friends your overflow in your cooler or Tupperware. When you crack the lid open and the sight of all your cigars makes their eyes open wide and then the aroma hits their noses...oh baby! At that moment you may ask yourself “...Well, how did I get here? How did I get this beautiful house? Where is my beautiful wife?...”. But, there won’t be any answers other than you exclaiming, “...My God! What have I done here?...”

Listen to Palama. He is a wise man.

Wish I would've had this info when I got started years ago.
(He wasn't talking to me then, nor was anybody else here. Don't know why. I think they dropped their standards significantly since.)

I have too many wood humidors, and they are a chore to keep up with. Having one presentation humi and bulk storage is the way to go, unless you have infused sticks. They should be kept separately.

One of my humidors is the 75ct Napoli Dome Almo Lacquer Cedar Humidor, which is ideal for presentation. It is solidly built, has a good seal, and a solid arched burl top with a really nice lacquer finish. And inexpensive for the quality. The price has dropped since I bought mine, but has been well worth it regardless
