We’ve been spared from major storms since the flood of 2016. But, it looks like we are going to take a direct hit from Barry.

What a day to turn 54.

Laissez les bon temps roulez!

Well this sucks. Right now they are projecting the Amite River which is about a quarter of a mile from my house is expected to crest about 5 feet lower than in 2016. The house we just moved into 2 weeks ago got about 4 1/2 feet of water in 2016.

Yeah, but the fishing is good... and it's above sea level, if just barely.

Latest track has the storm passing about 60 miles west instead of right at us.

Gonna watch Easyriders and chill a bit.

Looks like me may have dodged the bullet. River is 15 feet below the level earlier predicted at this time.

Bummer. I was in New Orleans the week after Mardi Gras. Thought about reaching out here for a herf, but I was with folks who are (1) related to me, namely wife and in-laws, and (2) not sure if or when I'd get much time on my own. That's cool, as I enjoy hanging with the in-laws. Mrs. Pacman is tolerant of my smoking, but the others revile at it, and I respect them enough to not inflict smoky clothes on them (tried that ONCE, at their home...thought I'd stop by Dion's place in Reno, and while it is very cool and Dion makes a hell of a cup of coffee, I had to air out my clothes and take a shower).

That being said, NO is about the craziest place I've been in a long time. Saw Blues Traveler at The House of Blues, and two days later, saw Pink at Smoothie Center. Took tours of what must have been the entire city. You can't really appreciate what NO residents have gone through and go through without having been there. Tons of places I visited and enjoyed are under water, closed, etc. People will have to switch from walking everywhere with booze in hand to swimming with booze in hand. Stayed over at Algiers Point, and even back then, that little ferry ride was wayyyyyy entertaining, and that's coming from a guy who lives on an island and depends on ferries to get to the mainland for most things.

Stay safe. Wish I could help. It's a crazy, cool, interesting place steeped in history...and a lot of water. My wife and I will cross our fingers for you. Even back in mid-March, the Mississippi was at the top of the levees. Glad the level seems to be dropping. Stay safe, man.
