I didn't think I was going to like it. I do. It's easy to read, it's convenient, I don't need a light on to read...

I've already downloaded 2 books. I'm 10 chapters into the first already.

The books I am buying don't seem to be much cheaper than the paperbacks, though. That's kind of a bummer, but I don't have to go to a store or wait for the book to arrive. I have it in seconds.

I've broken down and ordered one. The one issue that decided it for me is weight. I can't stand paperbacks, they just don't look as nice when they are on a shelf and I can't stand it when a paperback spine gets all scrunched up. But, the hardbacks are starting to really mess with my joints. Especially when you get up around 800 pages. Tried using a book tray but it gets annoying after awhile. Never realized how much I move around as I read. Anyone have a recommendation for a comfortable blue tooth headset? I know those Beats by Dr Dre are popular but are they any good? I have a funny feeling the headset is going to cost as much or more than the reader. Going to want something that's comfortable while laying in bed.

Anyone own the Kindle Oasis? it's the top of the line Kindle and it's waterproof which is really appealing to me since I love to read in the tub. Thinking of exchanging for this one since it's waterproof and comes with 32 gigs of memory. It also has a larger screen. Just wondering if it's worth the larger price tag. I have been using the Kindle App which is integrated with Audible to see if I like the reader over holding a book and I'm really starting to like it a lot. It's cool to be able to read and then if something comes up I just hit a button and it switches over to the audiobook. The joint pain in my hands has decreased a fair amount too. Also wondering if anyone can recommend a bluetooth headset that's comfortable to wear while laying on a pillow. I'm thinking something that covers the ears with noise canceling. Any tips appreciated.

I have one, and a nice one at that. Haven't used it much (got it during last Prime Lose Yer Chit Day). I read a ton of news, my main source of paper reading. However, I've plowed through bios of John Cleese and Eric Idle, both on paper and worth the $. When I do use my Kindle, it's for shows.

Now if you'll pardon me, I have to go polish my dinosaur's saddle.

Is polishing your dinosaur saddle the same as spanking the dolphin?

heh the reason I asked is because this weekend is the Amazon Prime deals weekend. Even with the Prime deal it still works out to just over $300 with case and charger etc. Guess I'll just use the Paperwhite for the year and see if I use it enough to justify getting the better one.

It's funny you mentioned John Cleese and Eric Idle, I almost watched The Life of Brian last night while browsing through Amazon Prime's books and shows. It's sad that kids today don't know who John Cleese and Eric Idle are... All those great Python shows and movies. Makes me wonder who I missed from previous generations. They don't know about Saturday morning cartoons and how on Sunday afternoons you'd get something like an Abbott and Costello movie or The Pink Panther and then it was usually some awesome Ku Fung, Sci-Fi or horror movie. The Five Deadly Venom's etc... I liked how the UHF channels were usually locally owned and programmed. There were some great local channels with some great locally produced show's that had hosts that were local celebrities. I still remember as a kid watching Captain Noah, along the same lines as Captain Kangaroo but only shown in the Philly area. Lol the over dubbed voices for those Kung Fu movies.... I think the lines "You God Damned Bastid! You killed my master! Now, you die!" appeared in ever single movie.

Yeah, I know. I wasn't far from pulling the trigger when my son said "But there's really nothing wrong with or old one, right? You don't need it."

Damn kid using common sense on me.

Tried that on my kid for roughly 4 new cell phones in a row. He doesn't believe in common sense

I noticed my kid was smarter than me. It was the morning of his 4th birthday.
