Fresh Sockeye salmon filets, on the grill. Some days it feels like the greater Seattle area is just about the best place to live. 76 degrees, fresh wild-caught seafood galore. Yesterday we had fresh Penn Cove mussels, grown about 20 miles from where we live. I took a gamble and made a complex mussels dish (trying to copy a dish from a famous Seattle restaurant) that turned out well. Entire dinner cost about $12 to make for 2. The salmon was $9.99/lb. and the fileted it for us for free.

My Dad used to like it so ate liver (...with bacon...) while growing up. Other than that, never bought it from the store to cook at home or ordered from a restaurant.

Made slow cooker pulled pork last night. Had garlic smashed taters with Spanish unfiltered olive oil blended in. Also a raw vegetable plate with pine nut couscous. Finished with a nice little cheese plate. 2018, La Spinetta Rose, Italy.
2016 Beckman Syrah, Purisima Mountain, Ballard Canyon, Santa Barbera, California.

Marinated some flank steak in green and red Hatch chili powder, garlic, and olive oil. Seared it off over smoking hot lump charcoal, served it up in home mademasa tortillas with pico de gallo. Frijoles and salad on the side. Ice cold beer all around. Cigars for dessert. Simple and amazing.

grilled a salmon filet last night: spritzed a little EVO on it, then spread on some minced garlic, salt and pepper and some other miscellaneous spices; and sprinkled on a layer of crushed BBQ potato chips...cooked it over med heat on the grill since my wife didn't want me to add heat to the house by baking it in the oven...green salad with chopped cukes, apples and red onion, kalamatas, grape tomatoes, parmesan...air fried french fries...

Grilled up a pepper marinaded pork loin, mango and zucchini with just oil salt and pepper, and I quick pickled some shallots. Shallots paired so good with the mango and pork, zucchini made a nice side.

2 pork shoulders, first lightly covered with smoked olive oil, then an herb rub. Also grilled vegetable kabobs. A nice tossed salad finished with garlic olive oil and apple cider vinegar.

So yesterday I did a test run, my work let me pick an anniversary gift so I picked a Masterbuilt Bullet.

Smoked a pork loin that I marinated with yellow mustard then rubbed with Good Scheet™️ Dry rub.

Put 3 bricks around the briquette chamber as it has about an inch airspace around it. Took awhile to get up to temp but damn if those bricks didn’t hold when it did. One load ran probably 7 hours @230°.

Used applewood btw

Pork shoulder I put on last night about midnight close to being done, double wrapped foil with some vinegar about a half hour ago.

Same mustard and dry rub technique over night.

Made some pickled red onion slices and grabbed pretzel buns yesterday. Gonna have to remember to get some good brown mustard today.

Gotta take my brother into the hospital soon might have a broken leg
