Horry carp! Gonz

Including today, 67 days of smoking, so on average, 3.6 different cigars a day. I don't think I've smoked that many different cigars in a YEAR.

Don't know if you should be commended for your smoking prowess or laughed at for being so OCD (...and posting it up on this board...). Since I'mma usually a nice guy, I'll commend you on your breadth and marvel at your record keeping. Can't say if smoking that many different cigars in that short a period is good or bad, you certainly have broaden your horizons in a short period...but after smoking 3 to 4 (...or more...) cigars a day, could you even taste your food?

At any rate, thanks for making me do some math tonight. Tongue

What are repeat smokes?

Are you not counting the mornings that you pick a nub out of the ashtray and finish it with your coffee?

Yes. Burn out is a real thing IMO. After a few smokes in a day it's hard for me to tell them apart. After two in one sitting I feel that I'm just wasting them. Particularly if they're really good smokes. YMMV fog

Hard to get burned out trying so many new smokes. :) I eat dark chocolate between smokes. Helps reset your pallet.

I think i might cast a vote for the insanity on this one. I've tried to reset palate with several things. Nothing seems to bring it back to zero. After 4+ my ability to taste is fried. More power to you though, man of the iron tongue

I was a heavy smoker when I first started. I’ve noticed some major changes in my palate and strength preferences since cutting back.

To keep it simple, I went from preferring Padron to Fuente. It basically helped me to appreciate and identify the subtle nuances that can be found in the mild to medium stuff more. I’m also not a big fan of strength anymore. I should probably revisit a lot of CCs.

And I’m not saying that I don’t enjoy the stronger full body stuff anymore, just that my “everyday” preferences have changed significantly. I think some of this is due to noob progression, but feel a lot of it has to do with decreasing my smoking regularity too. Everyone is different though.

Agree - my second, third, etc is something I’ve had before - never smoke a never tried except as the first smoke.

I don’t care what you call your boyfriend.
Just not a good way to stack pallets. Or cleanse your palate for that matter.

I’m sure you’ve already captured the noob sampling crown.
You may want to consider your long term enjoyment and cut back a bit though

Agree.
Climbed the strength scale to the top. Got to the point I didn't care for them anymore. Went down to a 2 on the 1 Mild-10 Full scale and found I enjoyed it. Slowing climbing into the medium zone now.

Never heard of the dark chocolate between smokes, but when my palate is on I have smoked as many as 7 good cigars in a day and noticed no palate problem. Looks like there may be differences in palates and tastes. But I must go along with Gummy as to that many smokes may likely not be good for you.

I’ve eaten 70% and 80% chocolate while smoking to help accentuate the experience but never dark chocolate as a palate cleanser between cigars. I’ll give it a go next time I herf with my buddies.

Iirc, the most I’ve ever smoked in one day is 5...and that was a struggle to do, dunno how you got in 7 (...yah, yah, early start, late end...).

think my max was 6 in one day...during the Morro Bay FishNHerf II...started early with a cigar on the boat as we headed out, and then two more while fishing and riding in...one before dinner, and two after dinner with whiskey and beer...last one was definitely not as enjoyable as a one a day cigar, felt like I wasted a Don Carlos...

100 in a month!!!!!!! I would say that is about my yearly intake. You are going to cook your tastebuds. Then you are going to lose a good chunk of the enjoyment of cigars...the flavor. Be careful.

That was a great time had by all. Unfortunately, we couldn’t do it this year. Hopefully, we can coordinate a trip this coming late summer/early fall. I’d love to make a trip to the Coronados while I’m there for the trip out of Morro Bay next time. Apparently that’s the best time for both places.

I am definitely hoping we can do the Morro Bay FishnHerf III next year and get all the OG's there...that would be fun...

as would extending the herf to include a trip to the Coronados, but we'd have to rent a boat...MACS sold his boat since he is downsizing as he preps for his move to Florida

Was wondering what the other board members felt about inviting chummers. After an excruciating 45 minutes of non-stop reeling up 15+ pounders from 250’ we had to spend another grueiling 45 minutes of non-stop action to reel up their limits as well. On the other hand, I was barely able to finish a Party CC. So all in it was a great time. The added chum definitely had a positive affect as far as catching fish in short order.

True, but how does that positively affect your fishing skills?

Btw, I don’t snore. Talk to myself while sleeping; guilty as charged.

Good or bad that has to be a record. I maybe smoke 10 or so new to me blends in an entire year. Lol I hope you took notes, otherwise you'll never remember what blends are worth buying again.

I take pics of all and mental notes. I know now after 1st smoke if I would want more or not. Wasn't like that in the beginning though. I've figured out my fav profiles and have developed my palate some now. Herfing

You take mental notes? Dude you ARE mental! Pretty sure you've evolved from a carbon based life form to a tobacco based life form! I smoke maybe 10 cigars a week on average. Never more than 2 a day though usually. I have smoked 3 in a day and once 4 but they were the same brand so I didn't have to worry so much about resetting my palette. I usually light up in the morning and have one before bed to relax. I can't imagine smoking 245 cigars in just 5 months! I can't even imagine what the real number is if you counted repeats.....

I gotta ask... Do you walk around in a cloud like pigpen from Charlie Brown?
