Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Friday suggested eating less food, and therefore, defecating less, as an answer to some of the world's problems.

Bolsonaro — who has come under fire in recent weeks after data showed increased deforestation of the Amazon rainforest— offered the response to a reporter who questioned if it was possible to boost the economy, feed those who are hungry and save the environment at the same time.

"It's enough to eat a little less. You talk about environmental pollution. It's enough to poop every other day," Bolsonaro said, according toAFP. "That will be better for the whole world.

The benefits of fasting is actually pretty damn good. The food industry is such a money maker we've been lead to believe otherwise.

Not saying it will solve the world's problems though.

I'm no rocket surgeon or nothin but I would think the way to stop deforestation would be to stop cutting down trees.

in fairness, the Brazilian President may be explaining why Brazilians are helping the lumber conglomerates destroy the Amazon rainforest: they're poor and hungry... and instead of proposing ways to reduce the poverty and hunger, he says they need to eat less...

hmmmm...kinda like the leader in America, where he plans to take poor people off food stamps...

people all over the world are voting for cruel, short-sighted knee jerk leaders...democracies don't seem capable of producing better leadership than authoritarian nations...

yah...Brazil's Infrastructure Jobs program...

instead of clear cutting and selling the wood for cheap, use just a small managed portion for the wall and re-plant....keep the rest of the trees alive in the rainforest...wood eventually deteriorates, so on-going maintenance and painting will provide for permanent jobs....win-win...
