If I had cachet at all, I could get cigars shipped here in under four years. Uncharted would be nice, actually. Whidbey Island is actually bigger than Liechtenstein, and more than 3 times the size of Aruba, so take that!
As for the godforsaken part, I'll live with it. We have a bazillion festivals and events this time of year, and it's close to Seattle (like 25 miles and a 15 minute ferry ride), so I live where people vacation. On a golf course, no less. We are crawling with wildlife around here, have few traffic signals on this end of the island, and it probably explains why the ferry lines get insane in when the kids aren't in school. There's a bridge on the other end, but we're 10 miles from the ferry, and 40 from the bridge, plus you have to factor in going about 60 more to get down to the ferry line on the other side...once the ferry rates go high enough, it'll be worth the trouble of driving around.
Still, lots of classic cars and car shows around here, Shakespeare festival runs the summer (amazing outdoor venue), plenty of food and arts festivals. Probably explains why a new house (about 400 sq ft smaller than ours) being built up the street on a much smaller lot is literally going for 2.5 times what we paid for ours 16 years ago. Plus, we have a tee box for our back yard, and look down the previous hole's fairway. I think that the new house up the street might actually be able to see small parts of the course from a ways off.
The thought of adding Cfest vendors, attendees, etc. to this mix? Hoo boy, that'd be like a 6 hour wait for the ferry, or some very long drives. And we'd have to hold the thing in a barn or something. Or the golf course (I could set up a booth with beverages and smokes, though...we're only on the 6th hole). Wouldn't have been a bad year for it, however. We've had a nice, 70-82 degree summer, a day or two of rain here and there, and low humidity most days. Reading the news, we might just be the having the best weather in the Northern Hemisphere this year.
Sorry, nurse is reminding me it's time for my meds again.
