Eoudias sent me a pair of these and I gotta say after the Siglo this is my next favorite CC. It has a spicy upfront taste that fades to fresh cut hay. The retrohale really threw me for a loop, first you get hit with a hot spicey flavor that immediately cools down into something almost nutty. I enjoyed the hell out of this smoke. That first blast of spice forces you to concentrate on what you're tasting. It's definitely an alone smoke. You want time to think about what you're smoking rather than having a drink and chatting with people. Though I think this would pair well with a Bourbon because of that upfront spice. I gotta send that man something..... anyone know what he drinks??

We made a fair trade, don't be getting foolish on me.

I'm glad you like them, but they are pretty much $3-4 sticks. Enjoy them for what they are but don't imagine that I was passing out something extravagant here.

The flavors you got are the same as the discontinued Vegeros a decade or so ago. They were supposed to come back with new vitolas and were to have been made a "flag ship" brand. YMMV.

I smoked the second one tonight and when I finished I immediately ordered a box. This cigar is just out of this world for the price! I ordered the Vegueros - Tapados Can (46 x 4.7) 16 count for $62. Normally $81 but they are on sale atm on Ravi's site. PM me if interested and don't know the site I'm referring to!

Hard to go very wrong at this price. The descriptions above sound great and, even if they don't turn out to be a favorite, I know a lot of people I can highly impress (for under $4) giving them a CC! :)

Got my tin the other day. Shipped from Guatemala of all places. This was my first purchase from Ravi so did not know what to expect. The tin had been opened (as they disclose on the website where they also say you can request they don't open the boxes). The tin was then wrapped in plastic with a little 69% Bovida pack inserted between the wrap and the tin. Not sure how much difference that would make but its a nice thought.

Although I will let most of then rest for a while, I did try one after only a couple days.

The wrappers are all pretty rough and "rustic." Veins and wrinkles and a few blemishes on some of them. Two of the cigars and small greenish spots on them. Segregated those in a zip-lock, just in case. Leaving the rest in the tin inside my coolador.

Pre-light smell very nice, the hay people describe was there along with a sweet tobacco.

Cigar lit up well and mostly burned straight. Did need one touch up about halfway in.

The flavor was quite nice, some spice but mine was not as hot/spicy as the OP's notes suggest. A light salty-savory undertone upfront along with the spice with some sweet hay/nutty aftertaste.

In all, assuming the green spots are not big deal, it was a good purchase. Very nice flavor and well worth the price. Won't ever confuse these with my beloved Hoyo Epicure's, but a very good smoke.

^^^ I believe the green spots are a water stain, I have seen it on a few cc and never had any issues.

Yep. In the freezer they went, I did open the plastic just enough to remove the bovida pack before I froze it. Taking them out tomorrow.

That is the plan. I had read Whistlebritches procedure posts in some of the other old threads on beetles. Not what I want in my humidor. Anxious

#15 Obscure country? Wait, wasn't one or more of those sending us gangs of gun-toting, womenfolk-threatening, job-taking, drug dealing, drug using, drug making gang members who were definitely, positively, absolutely at least 7 years old each and due to arrive to rape, murder and pillage at any moment? Damn you and your cavalier attitude, senor!

Oops.

I had one of the "green spot" ones tonight. It was spicier than the first one. Enjoyed it to the nub. To be honest there are non CCs that I like better, but at $4 a piece and tasting good with no rest, a pretty good deal for a CC!

Taking a couple this weekend to a Stanley Cup party (yes I will get to hug and kiss the cup!) to impress the riff-raff. :)

i want to say it was from bulgaria or something

frankj1: i finally pulled the trigger after folks on other forums said they are cheap flavor bombs. at that price, what do you have to lose really? the ones i got are only a year old and still in the freezer so i usually try to wait at least 3 months before trying one. but it sounds like midmo has been pleasantly surprised.

Maybe ill try one this afternoon (fresh out of the freezer) and post a review on this thread.

Would not surprise me if these get better with age, and will put some back for long term. But for $4, hey, enjoy! For comparison at about the same price I actually like the Room 101 cool arrows more and the MC3 Roxxos (even cheaper) as well and of course a lot of more expensive ones even better, but these are very nice, if a bit ugly.

Review 8/18 vegueros rott/rotf (right off the truck/ right out the freezer)

The setting: back porch, just ate some left over roasted chicken

Uniformly chocolate wrapper that feels smooth despite many small veins. Tobacco, faint barnyard. Draw is perfect, light is easy. Off the bat I get cumin without twang and a heavier feel than most Cubans. I wouldn't say it is a harshness but could be related to the youth of the stick. Earth and wood predominate over any grass/fruit/cocoa/etc in the first third.

The second third moves into a floral sweetness with a cedar finish. Medium to medium plus in flavor with medium strength and an average finish. At 2 inches the ash is hanging on but flaky and im preparing for it to land on my lap. There may be a faint twang but certainly not reminiscent of that classic slap ya taste. The smoke is cool and output is perfect and so is the burn. As the cigar progresses a dry mouth feel does as well. Hay and cream come into the picture, especially on the finish. Pepper is pronounced on the retro.

The ash is still hanging on at the band and a toasty graham with a dash of soap has shown itself throughout the past 4 puffs. And the very next puff the ash fell into my chin. Burn remains almost perfect which really surprised me as this cigar hasn't been acclimated. I double puff a few times to prevent a relight. The finish picks up an ash tray flavor and I slow down my pace.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised by this cigar. I wouldn't say it's complex but it has a lot of potential. I see this cigar as a great value and imagine that acclimation and age would really help it to shine. Total smoking time was about an hour and twenty minutes without any touch ups. I nubbed it.

I concur with gummy jones. Fired two up with my neighbor last night. Very good. Granted, I'm not he arbitrator of epic cigars, but it was a nice smoke that burned well all the way down to the nub. Very nice, especially given the price point. I'm putting these on the go to list.

A perfect "Would you like a cuban? for those that wouldn't get the significance of a Partagas Serie D No.4 or Siglo 2 to start with. :)

Had my 3rd one outside this beautiful cool morning in a wooded nature trail area next to my Hotel with a double shot Americano coffee. I have to say each one I have had so far has been subtly different. Today's smoke was in between number one and number 2 as far as spiciness goes, but had more of the salt and savory flavor then the first. It was a perfect pairing with the coffee and the venue, Watching all of the birds and huge turtles meandering about. I was planning to do a little walking along the trail, but the cigar was too good to walk and smoke at the same time so I took a seat to fully enjoy it down to the nub.

Clearly my plan to smoke just a couple of these and put the rest away long-term is rapidly going by the wayside. Going to play say another order this morning for a second tin.

BIG thanks to the OP for turning me on to a cigar I would have never tried before. $4 for something that good? And thanks to that purchase, $4.24 for Party Shorts? Makes the overbids around this place even worse!

The deal is back on right now, got an email from them that had a link to their specials.

Also, just got my second tin (along with the Party Shorts) that i Ordered just before the deal went bye-bye last time. Shipping was a LOT quicker, perhaps because this box came from Budapest!

Already in the freezer (after taking out the bovida pack)!

Let us know if, upon checkout, you get the Party Short offer. Even if you don't take it would be good for others to know if its being offered.

After a stay in the freezer then the fridge then several days in the humi, broke out one of the new batch of Vegueros and one of the Party Shorts. I already knew the Vegueros was fine to smoke ROTT and one of the well-known qualities of the Party Short is that it does not need any rest to enjoy, you can fire them up right now. However, this batch was dated March 2017, so they have been resting somewhere.

Both cigars were great and, in some ways, similar. The Party is more complex for certain and perfectly constructed. Starts out spicy - some pepper and a little salt, then moves to a creamy/cedar/tobacco profile to then end up with the two sort of combined as the pepper returns. Starts out I would say medium, gets a bit milder then finishes quite strong. Quite a bit going on for a smaller smoke.

The Vegueros is not as complex. It pretty much stayed the same the whole way but that's not bad when the cigar is good. Saltier than the Party, not as peppery. Pretty much matched with my reviews above of my first order.

Both very good smokes and great deals on CCs

I do wonder what Ravi's distribution network is like. My first shipment took a pretty long time (although still within their fairly long shipping time-frame) and came from Guatemala. The second one was a lot faster and came from Budapest!
