Peanut butter cups rule. Kit Kats don't suck, either.

Wife bought a bunch of tootsie pops and sour patch kids, hoping it would deter her from raiding the candy.

It's not working

When we used to give out candy, Nestles Crunch, Almond Joy, Reese’s, M&Ms (plain and peanut) and Snickers were the preferred treats. I always liked Big Hunk but my wife thought it wasn’t good for the kids’ teeth so I’d buy a bag and take it to work. After about 20 years of spending $100-$200 each Halloween, instead of rushing back home, my wife and I started staying in town after work, eating dinner and going to a movie instead.

Big Hunk?
never hoid of it.

8:05 and we seem to have hit the end of the night at 7 kids.

but it is very windy and the original forecast said heavy downpours.
maybe I should keep the candy bowl with me when I go out for a cigar.

Used to be fun when we first moved into our subdivision but after awhile it just got too crazy. There were years when we had to “borrow” candy from our kids ‘cause we ran out. The thought of spending over $200 on candy drove us to opt out.

Just in case, my wife bought a couple of bags of Mars and pieces, Mars, Twix, Snickers etc.

We had the same number of trick or treaters as we had the last fourteen years, zero. Our house is over a hundred feet below the street and our driveway is extremely steep and too long to bother with.

I'm about 10ft rise from street level and have a two car wide gently sloped 70ft driveway.

Still don't get any.

But it's a couple hundred feet between houses, there's no sidewalks or streetlights, so not worth the effort. Wife still buys a little candy every year. Still haven had one kid.

Something we started over 20 years ago. We make popcorn balls, usually the adults want one as well. We also just grab a bag of mixed chocolate candies for those who do not want the popcorn balls.

A draw in the upper part of our lot drains into a concrete gutter that has overflowed a few times and left some mud in the driveway in front of the upper garage. I just clean if off with a hose and shovel off any rocks. I put three drain boxes in the driveway, a hump at the entrance so if the street floods it will not all flow down our driveway and the bottom of the drive will overflow downhill to the river and away from the lower garage. All the drains have a passive overflow path that avoid flooding the house of garages.

The years I worked for the LA Flood Control District and helping friends with water and house flooding issues made me a bit paranoid about flooding.

Had a little over 30 kids, most with a parent watching them.

Went out for my morning walk and there were candy wrappers in the street. I don't blame the little bassards but I do blame the adults. These are the kids who will grow up throwing their happy meal containers out the window and graduate to big gulps and beer cans later. Cursing

Left a bucket of candy out when we went out drinking....
forgot to leave any lights on though, so it doesn't look like anyone came to the house. I have a full bucket of candy now.

200+ kids came to the door...busy night that started about 6pm, before dark, and ended around 9pm...

walked around the neighborhood and was surprised by how little litter was on the sidewalks and streets...

Bought 2 boxes of full sized assortment candy at Costco.
Had 1 girl come to the door. ONE... Funny thing was she was about 14-15, in costume, escorted by a guy of similar age that stood back like a parent would. He didn't have a costume on so I figure he was hoping to date her or something.

59 full sized snickers-milky way-m&m's-skittles to get rid of...
Maybe drive by a homeless wannabe, with a sign, at an off ramp and give it away
