53/79 and sunny of course

Just waiting for the earth to rotate so I can get out for a hike.

Used a product called Road Warrior Liquid Paint Protection on the lower quarters of the '65 corvette yesterday. Rolls on with a supplied small roller and dries clear. Supposed to protect the paint from small rocks and rubber kicked up when I run the autocross course at Goodguys event the weekend. Claims it can be peeled off easily when finished. We'll see.

I could go for some crispy fried chicken wings right now.

Hold the shake though. Don't like sweets.

Smoking some freshly cured pork belly for bacon. This is one good thing about cold weather, you can get a nice slow cook which makes the bacon much better! BigGrin

There is a distinct and precipitous drop in forum arguments when victor isn't posting.

They burned through their allotment of posts with their extended catfights.

Yep, I noticed years ago that Vic was the common denominator in most extended fights. Free Victor!

Let's dial back the hyperbole a smidge. He would be offended by this assertion.

Whenever it's stupid cold like this I like to compare our weather with Barrow, Alaska which I believe is the northernmost city in the US up in the arctic circle.

This morning leaving work, temp was 18.

Barrow, AK is 21.

Pulled a cigar and heated the garage, but cant keep it above 60 without running the kerosene burner. Gave myself a headache doing that yesterday so imma skip it and just smoke a small cob.

Hot apple cider with two shots of Makers Mark.

Then off to bed. 3 down 4 to go.

Getting ready to run the autocross this morning at Goodguys. Tech inspection was simple. They just make sure you have brakes and no brains. Sign a waiver that you won't sue. No roll bar required. Getting nervous.

Big boys are here. The Unsers have two cars running and many pros from everywhere in the US as this is the final shootout from the winners of the past 15 or so events across the country.

That sounds good. It's Friday, smoking some maple cured bacon today. then off to another exciting day of work. Brick wall

Other than it being colder than a witches tit, it's gorgeous here today. Suns out, no wind. Deceiving in it's serenity. fog

I've never had either.

I've had imitation crab, never lobsters. They taste like a giant shrimp? I figured that's all they were.

Spending the equivalent of a weeks grocery bill for the family on one plate of food has kept me from trying, though someday I'd like to.

Watching a bit of sportscenter this morning... and I see Myles Garrett smack Mason Rudolph in the bean with his own damn helmet.

Ejected, of course. Suspended indefinitely, too. That was an expensive tantrum.

Since he's a Brown and Rudolph is a Steeler... was it a hate crime?

We really got our butts handed to us... My wife asked if mason was gonna be ok... I said I hoped not... He played like a real sack of wieners last night....

Let him run. He's not very accurate and he can't read a defense. 2 pretty important traits in a QB.

Felt like seafood, so instead of going out to eat I got lobster tails and king crab legs. Pair that with some veggies and garlic bread.

I made it out alive! The autocross was a real hoot. I went three rounds with all times in the low 50-51 second range per lap. Didn't hit a single cone which means I wasn't pushing it hard enough but I had a great time anyway, didn't miss any gears, and didn't hurt the old gal. There were about 50 cars doing the autocross which is open to anyone and most of those were track pros and seasoned racers. Maybe 10 of us were first timers.

Robbie Unser and Al Unser Jr were running the course in the low 40 seconds as was the Summit cars of Warren Johnson Racing so I have a long way to go but considering the mega-bucks they have in their operations I'm happy.

Best time today was posted by a real genuine Cobra worth in excess of $1M. He was running in the 38 second range with a pro driver.

Tomorrow is the real shoot out for the 2019 title and I will not run. I might come back Sunday and do a few laps.

Damn Rick!! If you're only 10 seconds or so slower than professional drivers, that says A LOT.

I always thought of taking my G to Willow Springs, but never had the balls to do it. Wrecking a 40k car would have crushed me... and I seriously doubt USAA would have wanted to pay me for wrecking my car on a track. d'oh!

I imagine I am a much better driver than what I actual am, sadly.

Yeah, well... you're Asian, so you suck at driving.

My wife does, too... and sadly, I taught her how to drive. She drives really fast, but sh*tty driving must be in the blood.

She got the fast from me. She got the sh*tty from Asia. LOL

An autocross course is really not very dangerous. It's so tight with few straight stretches where you can hammer it. Hard on brakes, suspension and tires mainly. In all the races I have watched there was only one guy that hit a wall.

Headed back out now but just show and shine for me today.
