Curious about cable prices, and other options.

Just wondering how many still have cable and if there's something out there available for most at a decent price. As well, if you are able to get at least 50Mbps download speed, if there's any interest in another option??

Just putting it out there, imagine getting EVERY PPV, NHL, MLB, NHL,, NBA, EPL (That's the UK/Euro Soccer leagues, I think), NFL (Yep, Sunday ticket and ALL the games!), a little over 50 ESPN+ channels, every type of ESPN channels available, 20+ Fox regional, State and city channels, 9 UFC "Fight Pass" channels, All the premium channels, not just from here in the States, but also the Sky/UK Premium channels. More channels than I EVER knew existed, and if you desire, 99 XXX channels, (Although I can't imagine why?!?!? I'm afraid to click on any because my luck it would be some transgender or homosexual channel!) Science channels, 24/7 channels around 80-90 of them including Alf, Chappelle Show, Cheers, Friends, Full House, Growing Pains, Knight Rider, Magnum PI, Mash, Martin, Night Court, Sanford & Son, Star Trek (The original), Andy Griffith Show, Boondocks, Seinfeld, Twilight Zone, 3 Marvels channels consisting of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and more, local channels from around the Country CBS, NBC, Fox, whatever B-R Live is?!?! Around 700+ channels!!!! Channels I have NEVER even heard of or knew about. But, I'm not a big TV watcher, although I'm stuck at home in the winter, so I honestly get tired of scrolling!

ALL for 20 bucks a month, no more cable bills, just need decent internet speeds. Sort of hard to believe. Eventually there will be a 3 day playback option on many popular TV shows, just in case you missed them, Movie Shows on demand, and TV shows On demand.

Pretty sure all you need is a Fire Stick, Fire TV, seems like I saw that it can be run off of a PS4, get it on your phone, computer, whatever "Pad" you have and probably other platforms that I don't even know about.

Well this is awkward. The remote on our roku died and I just returned it to Walmart. Based on the Numi's info I was leaning to the fire stick, but reading the reviews comparing them makes me hesitate. We don't do games, and I have a Vudu account with movies online that evidently Fire stick and Amazon does not support?

Who is the $20 a month fee to? One of the streaming services?

Now I'm curious.

Numi, I think that ad is for a LEEL Box service. You have to purchase the box, and then pay a subscription to a provider. My daughter has one, and was paying Geer TV $20 a month for hundreds of channels, many from overseas. They also could get just about any sports that wanted. They don't have it right now because Geer TV just disappeared without a trace. I have heard that these boxes are illegal and that the providers are violating U.S. Copyright laws. Something like a Black Market TV service. The Feds may have caught up to Geer TV and shut them down. I'm not sure if the Feds will go after the subscribers, but it's something to think about.

Hopefully someone else here has more experience with a LEEL Box and can give you better info.

Edited to add: I just did some quick research. Some sources say that LEEL or Kodi boxes are perfectly legal, and some say they are not. Since Amazon sells them, I would have to assume that they are legal. The problem comes with many of the content providers who use pirated content.

Have roku and Apple TV among a few other smart TVs, Blu-ray etc. I prefer the Apple to be honest. Didn’t think I would.

It's nothing like that at all, it's a third party app that works on Fire Tv, Fire stick, PS4's and the mobile version works on a phone and computer or pad.

I've been using it for two months, it's pretty hard to believe the variety for the money. BUT, it doesn't seem to work well for anything under 20-30 Mbps internet speeds.

I bought a new fire stick during the Black Friday, maybe cyber Monday and it was already working on the older Fire Stick. I wish I had bought a few for the $25 price!!

Current price for a 4k Firestick is 50 bucks, or 39.99 if you do the two free months Sling TV. Not sure if that option locks you into having to pay for the Sling Tv after the two months is up. Still will pay for itself after a few months. Most cable prices to get everything on this deal is ridiculous I have a friend that saw it and couldn't believe that MLB is part of the deal. He said that was outrageous to pay for through a normal cable service.

It's quite mind blowing and I can walk anyone into "jail breaking" a Fire tv or stick in less than two minutes.

Yes, but some of these 3rd party suppliers are sending pirated content. Just make sure that the supplier is legit.

Not too worried about the legalities, very much, just think of the folks that are getting cc's.

You are correct on the content, the internet is like the "Wild West" nowadays.

I have been using this for around 3 months and it's been upgraded, just need to check my little Apple TV device and see if it will run it as well.

It's a FAR more economical way of getting TV streaming via a 3rd party developers app on fire stick, etc.

Just shoot me a PM if you think you're interested.

Just got a few updates as to what else will soon get added. Here's some notes the group got from our message board this morning.

Working on the new update.. on the schedule for today - adding in: EFL: IFOLLOW, Music Choice Channels, BET+, Disney+, PureFlix, and all of the channel logos added to the Adult section..

Will be more like an ESPN+.. can't stream all of the content at the same time. Still working on the full details of that one and the BET+.. may just run a few feeds at a time with the latest and greatest releases.. will have more details later today

May also be able to get full access discounted membership pricing for the full app itself. If I can make that happen we can add it in as an additional paid feature and run a 2nd reseller panel just for disney+ memberships. 1 thing at a time.

So, I get the impression that this is not only legitimate, (not pirated) but another way for these streaming companies to volume discount to larger groups. I'm not a pro at this stuff, just able to help by offering cheaper choices. Not sure yet, I haven't tried, but I still don't know if my little Apple TV box will be able to run this streaming app. I. don't have a PS4, so that will be "new waters" for me as I help folks get signed up.

My monthly Fios bill is up to $171. Not sure what my breaking point is, but Verizon seems intent on testing it. Toss in $160 cell service, Netflix, Sirius, and at least a couple things I'm forgetting, and media content and delivery cost to me is a bit astounding. Was a time that I went off over an $115 landline phone bill.

I'm around $200/mo for spectrum. It includes all/most of the premium channels, land line and 300-500mb internet. Add in netflix, hulu, disney+, appletv+, xm/sirrius, nugz and now I'm starting to get angry lol

and that doesn't include the cell phonesAnxious

That's why I have gone off and on for many years with NO TV, cable, and when we started dating, my current wife paid to add me to her Verizon service and got me a cheap phone, JUST so we could talk, because we lived an hour apart and both were single parents with 2 kids each living with us. I had a cheap landline, but I often wasn't even close, not at home, or it would be busy with a teenage girl on the phone, LOL. That was 2003.

I'm lucky that we are in a location that got Fed Grants for rural areas and Fiber optic internet/TV was installed in late '18, early '19. Blazing fast speeds!! But, I refuse to pay for the TV packages.

All we have otherwise is Netflix.

The only decent internet in my area is spectrum. Their pricing on internet alone vs packages makes it tough to realize real savings going other routes. I'm just far enough in the sticks to have limited options and to have missed out on google fiber.

Yep, it's hit or miss around West TN as well. Just got lucky here and with AT&T, a local that decided to go non-profit, the local electric Co-OP adding on fiber optic, we have a decent price because of the competition and demographics. Didn't even know that Google was doing their own fiber optic installation?!

Yea google fiber did a 1g fiber optic network for tv and internet. The first city was KCK. They did a few others as well but I think they stopped. We were just outside the boundaries. They had a pretty good deal too. One that locked your address in forever and you could sell with the house. I dunno the detail it wasn't available to me.

As for spectrum I've renamed them Speculum.

We only have Spectrum which you correctly described as ball suckers. Google fiber was in town for about a month took a lot of local government money and then ran.

All of the "content providers" and broadband companies are FN Oligopolies. horse

Your best option these days is to hock up some rabbit ears to your TV and be content with what you can get over the air. fog

I have one option for line connected internet and that's comcast.

Basically its comcast or satellite. I use antenna and streaming services for TV

Its been reliable, only one or two extended downtimes. Sometimes goes down for an hour or so but overall its probably more reliable than our electricity provider.

I think I pay $80/mo for internet only.

ANtone interested in around a thousand channels, give or take, with Disney+ and others coming on soon, just drop me a PM and I can get you set-up. If you can get at least 50Mbps download speeds, and a fire stick, fire tv or a PS4, I will set you up with the app for just $20/month. No need for any cable service, just the internet service. If you want two TV's, operating this, you will need two fire sticks and it's $35/month for both TV's.

There's also a mobile app as well. I can let my wife watch the tv while I'm streaming it on my MacBook Pro, but we are getting 100 Mbps with the router upstairs and we are sitting downstairs and not tethered with an ethernet cable. If I do that I get 1GB/sec!!!
