Yup, but at the countdown it will explode... I am calling it now. It will go for over a c-note. I'll wager one of my favorite cigars on it. PM me your address if it goes for less than $100.

I think my selection would underwhelm you. But I was also counting on you driving the price up, not showing weakness and all.

Geeeezzz this is getting out of hand. Some might be taking the CA ratings a little too serious. 3rd one I've found like this. I'm a have to go to B&M and grab a single to see what's up lol

Edit: it's giving an OpusX a run for bidding:

One thing I have noticed is that if you have a scroll wheel on your mouse and you click in the bid or max bid box, and then scroll UP using the mouse wheel, the dollar amount goes up in the bid box. I looked at one item I was bidding on and the max bid showed $700 plus! Luckily, I hadn't clicked on the place bid button yet, but it freaked me out.

The RP ALR is a very good smoke imo. $14 (non member price) at our lounge in South Jersey. We sold out very fast but expecting more soon. May pick up a box at next event

Unbelievable and this is the second edition. Rocky must be working them overtime to make more of these that sell at 2x MSRP +.

With no disrespect intended, the time of year is very relative to auction activity and bid prices. This year the end of February was not a good time to win bids at great prices, although I did win some antiques at a little less than what the King won at.

The overbidding is cracking me up...

I was looking for a few 5 packs of a particular cigar. Found the auction and began bidding on 2x 5-packs. As soon as the bids went over 50% of the lowest "freefall" price of a 10 pack of the same cigar, I dumped the auction, waited for the freefall price to bottom out and purchased. Those chumps paid $4 per 5-pack more than I did... God bless them.

I've only been using the site for about 3 months, but is this a normal occurrence you see for the people who have used the site for years? I see so many auctions hover at or exceed normal prices on top of the above described. I've noticed stuff I got for a steal in January is now going for 2-3x what I paid just from watching lots.

Likewise, I am fairly new here but I think some people get too emotionally attached to winning an auction and they end up NEVER WANTING TO LOSE...

I mean, losing is a sign of weakness.

I guess they may also say "I am already paying $6 for shipping, so if I overbid by $2, I really save $4 in shipping if I were to win this lot in a future shipment. This really only holds water if the overbid $2-$4 though, and I see overbidding exceed that all the time.

That's why I am so surprised there is no CBID mobile app with push notifications for auction status. Can you image the jump in revenue if all these auction hounds were notified as soon as they were out bid and could up their bids? Man, the overbidding would run rampant. It would keep the lights on for years!

If you have email notifications on, it's essentially the same thing as an app w/ push notifications so that's probably a big factor.

Someone just paid 6.00 dollars per Gar for MB3’s they out bid me, so I made sure they paid full price. They outbid me the second time, probably hoping I would out bid them again. Nope, not for that price. Too funny. 🤣😂🤣

I like em for days when I have about 30 minutes to smoke a cigar. I get the little ones for that. I also like the Churchill Vitola, but I also take my mb3’s and infuse them with spiced rum.

Ok, you need a Rubbermaid container, a shot glass and 5-10 cigars. You fill the shot glass with an ounce of your preferred rum, place the shot glass in the Rubbermaid container. I then place a paper towel in the bottom of the Rubbermaid container and set the cigars on the paper towel. I then seal the lid and let them set for 2-4 weeks, the finished product is very good.

If you use 151 proof rum - be sure to light them outside of the house.

Yep. I turned off my card. Too many nutzos driving crap up. I don't even go to the bid unless it's to look at some crazy bid that call called out. You guys have completely changed my perspective and views on cigars. Which is good. Since I get off work at 2230 I'm in a great position to snipe the bids when they close. LOL.

I've got a good supply of good smokes, we're gonna let them ride for awhile.

Impressive losing spree! I have not done anything on Cbid for quite a while other than freefalls for that very reason. Some decent deals at times to be had on FFs, but otherwise not so much lately.

Insane!

Reminds me of the early days of eBay where clueless new computer users made complete fools of themselves like that pretty much every day of the week!

If it wasn't for the new FreeFall auction format on CB, I doubt I would be buying anywhere close to the number of cigars I buy in any given month today. It would be hard to win any true deals if all I had on offer were the traditional auctions, where these days they only offer 1-2 of something and you know the chances are very high that some clueless noob is going to overbid you out of the deal at the last minute.

Back in the day, the typical listing had 10-15 of the item up for auction. Today you are lucky to see more than 5, and most of the time we are talking 1-2.

I've been buying here on CB since 1999/2000 back when it was just a little back channel auction section off the original CI website. Things have really changed over the decades since those first 5 or so Golden Years of Cigar Bid. (Really miss the zero sales tax!)

But I still bid on the traditional auctions like I always have... I find the cigar I want, determine the street price and then subtract anywhere from 10-30% off that and make that my maximum bid. Then I walk away and don't come back until AFTER the auction has ended. If I get outbid I don't care, cause the chump that outbid me obviously paid too much! This technique doesn't work as well as it did 20 years ago, but it still works, but now that CB has dramatically reduced the quantity being offered in any given auction, the chances of getting outbid have increased just as dramatically compared to back in the day.

Since the FreeFall auctions were introduced, I tend to buy the bulk of my cigar stuff using those. If you have the patience to camp a listing for 15-20 minutes, you can often get an additional 10-15% off the typical pre-reset value when the price falls much further than the average every so often.

Think
The drop is always the same, be it 15,18,20, 25, etc.
The START price is what changes, so you’re looking for the lowest start.

As I recall (but I could me mistaken) back in the day, the start price was always the same, and the drop was different. Made it a bigger pain the da azz to “ find” the best deal.

I’ve watched the new FF for long enough since the site reboot, and the “lowest” drop is absolutely NOT 10-15% lower than the next lowest.......more like 1 or 2%...............at least on the stuff I buy.
On garbage? Maybe that’s the case...

Not sure where you are pulling your data from, but all I have to go by are my actual purchasing experiences with the FreeFall system. I generally spend upwards of 15-20 minutes watching the price cycle and determining the bottom before I get ready to make the purchase. Every 10-20 cycles, there will often be one cycle that drops considerably lower before the price resets (Pre-Reset) than all the previous cycles average bottom price. This is what I wait for and when I make the purchase. While this technique does take an investment of time, it has served me very well up to now, so I have no plans to stop saving the additional $$ off my FreeFall purchases.

Here are a few examples of recent "Garbage" that I purchased on CB using FreeFall.

1) Perdomo 20th Anniversary Maduro Epicure (Toro) (6.0"x56) Box of 24 - Retail: $228.00 - Average Pre-Reset: $139.00 - My Actual Purchase Price: $127.42 x 2 (Took just under 20 cycles to hit that lowest number)

2) Oliva Serie 'V' Lancero (Lancero/Panatela) (7.0"x38) Box of 36 - Retail: $300.00 - Average Pre-Reset: $161.xx - My Actual Purchase Price: $151.91

3) Punch Gran Puro Nicaragua Robusto (4.9"x48) Pack of 10 - Retail: $59.90 - Average Pre-Reset: $32.xx - My Actual Purchase Price: $25.94 x 2

Maybe you should spend a little more time watching the deal before spending more $$ than you actually need to. Herfing
