As I have done over the past 7 years, I again invite any and all to drop by my humble abode on lovely weekend afternoons for impromptu herfs.
Bring your smokes, or mooch mine.

I figure that by the time any of you azzhats get off yer butts and decide to drop by, all the Kung-Flu fighting will be over.

Don't do what? Invite folks over to have a cigar? Why? Because of the Kung-Flu?
Well, considering the spectacularly underwhelming response in the past, I believe I'm safe.

But, anyway, there's room for about 8 guys - 5 CBid FOGs - on my porch.

Hear that, guys? Coronavirus "swap n' spread" party at Mandoman's house!

Maybe you are, maybe not. But what about everyone else? For example:

Guest #3 is an asymptomatic carrier and brings the virus with him. Cutters, lighters, cigars, glasses, bottles, etc. etc. are all handed around, air is shared, coughing and sneezing happen, shared surfaces are touched by multiple guests, etc. etc., which collectively spreads the virus around to pretty much everyone.

Afterward, long before symptoms start, the guests all return to their home cities, taking the virus to several far-flung areas, some of which may not already have it.

Guest #5 has a bad time with it, is hospitalized but after recovery he has severe and permanent lung capacity reduction due to tissue scarring and can't breathe easily for the rest of his life. He also transmits it to his cousin, who ends up on a ventilator.

Guest #2 carries it back to his 81-year-old mother whose lungs fill with fluid, the ventilator isn't able to save her, and she dies. She also transmits it to a nurse in the ICU who doesn't have proper protective gear, and she takes it home to her family, several of whom are hospitalized.

Guest #4's spouse is a cigarette smoker who dies in agony in an ICU because he took it back to her. Guest #4 also touches a nonpourous surface in a supermarket which is shortly after touched by another customer whose whole family gets sick, two of them ending up in the ICU, one dying.

And it can go further than that, much further. You're creating whole new branches of a giant ever-expanding tree, and those branches branch, and it goes on and on. The death, suffering and carnage from just ONE CIGAR MEET-UP that never needed to happen, that could've been pushed off a few months until things got better, can be immense and widespread.

Don't laugh. This is exactly how it happens, and is no exaggeration. It's reality.

I am not a conspiracy theorist................neither is PM.This is exactly how this schit gets spread.Let's all be good little soldiers and practice social distancing til this is behind us.Refusal to cooperate only makes things worse and prolongs these rules we all dislike.I may be somewhat selfish here........I cannot get my bypass surgery behind me til CV is long gone or I have a heart attack.Hoping and praying for the former rather than the latter

Why haven't we shut everything down for the annual flu season before?
How many cases of the flu this year?
How many hospitalized?
How many died because of it?
Is the Wuhan Flu THAT much worse where the country and economy needs to be shut down?

Anyway, I still invite all y'all to drop by on Sunday afternoons to smoke a cigar or two.

YES.

Not lecturing, Dave, but if I went through what YOU went through with GBS, I would take every precaution to avoid going back in the hospital . . . ESPECIALLY with the hospital situation being what it is right now.

I agree with Danm, Whistle and Pudding Mittens and jespear...we have to postpone group gatherings until they can be done with complete safety...we have to look out for one another

danmdevries is a healthcare worker. He's getting his will in order and thinks he might not make it out of this alive. Many, many other healthcare workers are saying the same. Does that answer your question?

By all accounts it's much worse, and attacks the lungs much more aggressively than the seasonal flu does, often involving permanent damage.

Also, we understand the seasonal flu pretty thoroughly, this thing is poorly-understood and quite the wildcard right now. They're seeing healthy people in their 20s with no pre-existing risk factors being put on ventilators and dying. Why? Nobody knows yet.

Again, the downstream multiplied effects of this can be devastating and affect literally thousands of people over time. Take my scenario above and run it further, over the course of months, and just imagine the numbers of affected people.

There's a reason public health authorities are freaking out and issuing "stay-at-home" orders, except for quick and careful grocery runs, and the like. Gatherings of multiple people from different home areas are one of the worst things that can be done right now.

I'm not worried, considering the fact that 0 - zero - folks have accepted my invitation over the past 7 years, I fully expect the same this year.

That's the right coast... for many reasons. It's on the right side of the map. It's where it all started. It's our economic hub... and lawbstah's wicked cheap compared to the left coast.

Yep. You were attending the War College, I believe.
The biggest difference from your visit is I walk - with a walker - pretty much every where. I've also gained enough manual dexterity to cut and light my cigars.

Since your brother was so generous with his 2019 OpFTH Maineiac prize, I'll be more than happy to virtually smoke with you one of the cigars he sent. Herfing

Well, aloha!
I'll be puffing at about 1ish Sunday afternoon. That'll make it about 8 AM in Hawaii. I believe it's a 5 hr difference from us East Coast guys, or is it 6?
Anyway, I'll dig deep in my humidor for a maineac drop off. I know I've got a couple 'Bro left behind on one of his visits.

Depends on the time. Since I do my smoking on the front porch during daylight, I'm usually done for the day by 5 PM.
