Last night Queen - Everything! Even re-watched Bohemian Rhapsody. Rami Malek deserved that Oscar. If you haven't seen it, and love Queen, you really should. I never once thought oh that actor is doing a pretty good Freddie. I was watching Freddie. He was that good.

Haven't seen Rocketman yet. Anyone know if it was any good?

Right now.

I didn’t get into them till “Get Your Wings.” By then they were a little more polished in the studio and Tyler really started being Tyler. They came to Hawaii in ‘76 and amongst my friends, the show we went to is Top 2 of loudest rock concerts we ever attended.

Jo Jo Gunne - self-titled debut album

They had potential but never really got better than this.

Loved both of the movies. The symbolism in Rocketman is awesome, I don't care if the songs are chronologically out of order...meh, he lived them and helped write them along with Bernie Taupin. What you have queued up is the "sweet spot" for me in his discography. I can find great music throughout his career but the highlight to me is...

https://youtu.be/mOHLQg4VfqE

It sounds more like it belongs on Capt. Fantastic or Goodbye Yellow Brick Road than it does here, but you can see exactly where he was going.

If you like the Queen biopic...you'll enjoy Rocketman. They deserved the awards they both got.

An album we would put on while doing “youthful activities” and just space out to it.

Tomorrow I’m gonna ask my musician friends if anyone still has a Fender Twin Reverb amp with 12” JBLs so I can plug their guitar in, turn the volume to 11 and just play distorted chords so I can prepare for the VHerf #2 and Celtic’s ranting and raving.

Gotta go with Sloop John B. I still think Pet Sounds is THE greatest album ever put together. Not my all time favorite but, when you take into account the song writing, musicianship, harmonies, engineering etc. etc. etc. Hard to beat.

SJB is a great song but is basically a cover of an old folk song. As much as I love Pet Sounds, SJB sounds clumsily out of place within the concept of the album. On the other hand, Surf’s Up is so complex that I get that people don’t get that song.

Ah yes, "Golden/Middle Era" Genesis, the best Genesis ever!

In chrono order:

1. 1967-1974 - Early Genesis w. Peter Gabriel - too weird
2. 1975-1983 - Golden/Middle Era - friggin' amazing, some of the best music ever made
3. 1984 onward - Post Pop-Sellout Era - short FM-friendly crappy pop tracks
