Also, does this mean we don't need masks or we do need guns?

Personally I wear a mask and carry a gun and I've never been richer...

It's an alt right wing meme to make people they don't agree with to look like what they call "NPCs"
The idea being that those they disagree with have obviously not thought out their arguments and are just parroting what they are told to say, and as such are Non-Player Characters.

As with many of these pre-packaged arguments, they attempt to dehumanize and other the person they are disagreeing with, and associate with them a set of ideas without actually arguing with a person.

I've seen this meme before. It's not smart.
I've seen alterations of this meme from the left. It's not particularly any more smart, but at least they're willing to laugh at the idea of being portrayed as an NPC.

As with pretty much any meme posted, the choice to post it lessens my opinion of the poster automatically.

So bald dark aliens wear masks and are angry with normal looking white folk that carry guns?

I wear a mask (really stupid not to) and carry. Maybe I’m a white weird looking alien dude?

That's one of the particularly dumb ideas in this meme, that only people who are anti-gun would think wearing a mask is a good idea.

In the eyes of the person who posts this, one must be "pro gun/anti mask" or "anti gun/pro mask". And that of course makes the argument very easy for them.

Which of course, makes the argument dumb.

A lot of psychoanalysis about a simple cartoon. Vic, you must have been super fun to hang out with on Saturday mornings when you were a kid.

Next can we get a dissertation discussion going about your favorite Simpsons episode? Please adhere to the format as laid out in the following link.

I mean.... Maybe you should think more about where this stuff comes from, and why people do it.

Look at Gene.... he's happily posting a bad argument, which originated the same places as the "SJW", "Kek" and "Red Pill" crap started from. He's probably spread it to more people than just us... and when pressed he'll say something like "It's just a fun cartoon, don't take it too seriously". But someone else will have already copy/pasted it and posted it somewhere else.

This is how poor critical thinking spreads like a virus.

Or maybe I just don't really care that much to spend energy on analyzing where people get their ideas and what (if any) the presumed deeply seated master plan is. My life is to short to worry about what others think or how they got to where they are. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. After all, most likely I can't change them even if I wanted to. Your results may vary.

I've never understood where people think it takes "energy" to analyze any of this.

The NPC meme is a known thing. Once you've learned it (hey, you learned it a few posts ago.... or already knew it) it takes zero effort to "know" it any longer.

The act of reading a dumb meme is the entirety of the "energy" required. If you can't see everything I pointed out when you first read it and would need time to actually "analyze" it, then.... well I'm sorry.

I guess you can feel good that you're not the first person to make this "why would I spend energy on analyzing X" argument. So at least you have some company.

If you have the energy to post a meme wouldn’t it take the same effort to understand its origins or what it perpetuates. You are pushing a message as your own or at least one you agree with. If it’s important enough to push to others connected to you it should be important enough for you to understand.

Even if you don’t upfront when you do find out why argue? That isn’t an energy issue it just means you don’t care what it perpetuates and you at least tacitly support the same ideas they do.

Not meant for Bucky or gene. Just in general.

I don’t care what folks do and it doesn’t hurt me but once you become comfortable pushing the message of certain groups even though that’s not your intent it might be worth a moments thought....or not. It depends who you are.

This is the second time you've referenced the "learning to code" thing. Is this a callback I'm missing? I tried googling it but .... well... that's not really a very efficient phrase to search.

I think it’s pretty clear

The thing is this character is easily traced to white supremacy groups. Doesn’t take much energy. I don’t think gene is racist for sending it out nor do I think cbid is for approving it thus making it a reflection of them. When you don’t know you don’t know. When you do and are ok with it that’s another thing.

What does that string of nonsense even mean?

The meme originated in 4chan, the alt-right/white-supremacist message board... so I guess snowflake with white privilege fits. The rest of your post is literal gibberish.

Again, is it really that important to you that you spend time and energy digging into the root source of where it came from? Who the cares?

Me: I looked at it, rolled my eyes and moved on. But apparently you feel the need or desire to go on a hunting trip to prove something (I don't know or care what) to somebody to show them how super smart you are or something.

Egads, you must really be bored but good work Sherlock, another mystery solved!

Hats off and clappy hands to you. Applause

Bucky I think you are talking to victor. I’m speaking in general here not about you.

I dont think you have to spend any time looking in to anything or everything. If someone else does and shows you that you are perpetuating something foul from those groups and that’s fine with you that’s your choice. We all have our own comfort level.

As for cbid if and when they discover the origins they should think about having it posted as well. That’s also their choice and a business decision. They approve these pictures. If it meets their business standards I dont really care ... seriously. I ain’t mad. What folks accept and don’t accept isn’t upsetting it’s merely informative.

Not knowing isn’t racist. Once you do it becomes debatable.

I think you misunderstand what Gene found funny. First it is funny in that no one wearing a mask would say that. Only a white supremacist, racist, or bigot would think they would say that. Also it is funny in that only a white supremacist, racist, or bigot, would draw a person of color with indistinguishable features, yet an ape like impression. It is funny in that only a white supremacist, racist, or bigot would not realize they were talking about themselves when it came to guns. So from all directions this joke shows what ignorant POS, white supremacists, racists, and bigots are. Since Gene is none of those he clearly looked deep and saw the real, but unintended humor.

^ Thanks, I think...

BTW, this meme was shared in the FB Being Classically Liberal FaceBook group. It got 433 "Like", "LOL" or "Love" cliks, nothing else. There were also 193 comments, most thought it was funny, more said something like, "Why not both?" So I guess Classic Liberals are white supremacists, racists, or bigots, dang it, ya just cannot trust anyone these days.

If one were to analyze the depiction of the “white” man,
One could surmise that he is a pencil neck weakling.
Especially in comparison to the depiction of the “darker” individual.

Should whites be offended?
Couldn’t everyone be offended if they were to look deeply enough?
Should we be imprisoned by our thoughts?

Or shall we choose to be free?...

Choose to be free but don’t ignore that this came from white nationalist groups. Free and educated is better than free and intentionally ignorant. Unless you want to support these groups ideas while pretending you don’t. In that case it’s actually not ignore t but pretty smart.

I’m sorry.

At this point the origins are known. If you are comfortable with it cool. If you are not cool. It’s nothing to get mad about. It’s merely information.

If you are comfortable perpetuating white supremacy memes because you find them funny, and don’t find anything wrong with them even though they put them together as part of their agenda fine. You will just find the other group overly sensitive or dumb.

If you immediately get upset when someone pushes white supremacy memes out you may feel superior but you arn’t. If you get upset after explaining where the meme came from and it’s still supported or defended you may need a coat.

It’s really not worth being invested in because I doubt many in here whole heartedly supports white nationalism. But it is informative.

To each their own.

But you proclaimed it was from a raciest source. Frying pan horse

I did an image search in google and got nothing but pro gun and anti vaccination or libertarian sites. I figured with the usual bias of Google searches something would pop right up. i suspect the "source" of concern over the face is a tin hat wearing hyper sensitive type making some crazy assumptions. Perish the thought that the originator made a generic non ethnic face that they hoped would not offend anyone. In this example, the other face isn't exactly handsome either, but what do I know about men's faces as a flaming heterosexual male. horse
