He was still doing hilarious skits on the Jimmy Kimmel show up until a few months ago.
great on Kimmel! but it was easy to spot what appeared to be Parkinson's tremors in his right hand during skits. Sometimes he would hold it down with his left hand.

uh idiot, it started years ago when, in a rare moment of clarity, I announced to a small gathering at the beach: I"m like a genius.

I've used both here over the years, but it officially became uh idiot at your insistence, if I recall, as others kept correcting what looked like a grammatical error on my part. I know you agree that the "uh" adds everything to the impact of the term.
