did we overlook the great and funny man, Fred Willard?
Passed away at 86 this week.
I remember him a million years ago with the comedy troupe Ace Trucking Company

RIP funny guy.

That was Willard Scott, the weather dude on the Today Show. He's still alive but probably not a bad pick in a death pool.

Fernwood tonight !!!!
Fernwood ,OH
July 4 , 1977 to Sept, 30, 1977
1 season
65 !!! Episodes...it was on all the time that entire summer..
My mom loved that show
Martin Mull , Fred Willard, Jim Varney, Harry shearer

Way ahead of it's time in comedy history...

Fred Willard was in a class all his own...
Always a good straight man...and never broke character.

OK - with the headline of the post,
I thought it was an ultra-late tribute to Freddie Mercury from one of the retards here.
____

Loved Fred Willard.
He was still doing hilarious skits on the Jimmy Kimmel show up until a few months ago.

great on Kimmel! but it was easy to spot what appeared to be Parkinson's tremors in his right hand during skits. Sometimes he would hold it down with his left hand.

as to like uh idiot, it started years ago when, in a rare moment of clarity, I announced to a small gathering at the beach: I"m like a genius.

to which The Lovely Caren chimed in with: you're like a idiot. (short "a", not long)

I've used both here over the years, but it officially became uh idiot at your insistence, if I recall, as others kept correcting what looked like a grammatical error on my part. I know you agree that the "uh" adds everything to the impact of the term.
Credit must go to TLC, written credit to you.

I also have reason to believe that tailgater fell hard for me when I uttered that I was like a genius on our first date at edin508's MAHole herf several years ago.

I did! not everyone appreciated it. Thought Martin Mull was perfect as the talk show host parody.
Willard always stayed in character, just like in Best in Show (never saw that whole movie though).

Fernwood was a spinoff from Mary Hartman

I know this song has nothing to do with Frankie's post but every time I see the title of this thread, I can't help but think of this:

I noticed that, but he seemed pretty healthy otherwise. Sad.
RIP Fred. You are responsible for an abundance of laughter and good times...

The “uh” is a priceless component of the phrase.
And you are credited with your consideration of the pleas of this jacka$$.
Fred would approve...
