IN ADDITION TO DONATIONS, SCHMITTY IS ALSO ASKING FOR TARGETS. THIS HAS BEEN A KEY REQUEST. The word on the street was they were supposed to open the office on June 01, but i think they may have had their stay at home order extended, so i think for now (5.25.20) hold off on sending them cigar donations. As always, feel free to hit me up as needed, and here is the usual spiel you have come to know from me :::::

Copied and pasted, with minor editing, from last year.

Allrighty folks lets get this party started!!

It is time for the "Official" Start to this year's festivities.

As many of y'all know Operation From the Heart is a nonprofit organization that sends care packages to our soldiers serving abroad. OpFTH is 100% donation driven, when the donations stop Bill and the other agents fund our shipping costs out of our own pockets.

All donations go the Operation from The Heart shipping fund!

Here are the "General" rules

Once again this year is all about shipping funds as Smitty informed me that the OpFTH account is basically EMPTY

This year's goal is a minimum of, NOPE, not this year. I know that all will give till they bleed and we don't need the added pressure of a goal. I will work on keeping a much better count on donations to give final count as some people have asked me for one in the past.

YOU CAN PLEDGE ANY AMOUNT!
Here is how you can make your contribution.

Personal or Certified check, or money order.(Send to schmitty but make them out OPERATION FROM THE HEART or OPFTH (not schmitty))

OpFTH
29456 Groesbeck Hwy
Roseville MI 48066

After the CAT last year, there was a upgrade to the web page that allows someone to pledge a donation every month directly from the website via paypal. super easy to do! and no need to keep track of paper or deal with snail mail.

Cigar donations can be sent to

schmitty (at the same address above)

please be sure to add a note with your CBid handle, # of cigars and that this is for the C-A-T if sending cigars (will make verification much easier)

The preferred method for monetary donations is paypal. goto Paypal and send money to: [email protected] if that is easier for you Techies REMEMBER TO INCLUDE YOUR CBID HANDLE

^^THIS EMAIL ADDRESS HAS CHANGED FROM LAST YEAR SO PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THAT DETAIL!!!^^
Instant, Secure, online contributions VIA Paypal VIA Credit Card on the OpFTH website!

www.opfth.org
Click on the Paypal or JustGive Logo’s on the left hand side of the page.
WE prefer PAYPAL, you get an instant receipt for tax purposes!
The paypal will provide Schmitty with real time verification, and lets try to make his life easier.

Paypal is the prefered method (DO NOT list Cigars or Cigar Bid anywhere in the donation...Title donations "C-A-T 2020" Email your confirmation receipt to Ypetryna, PM for e-mail.

Prizes determined based on random draws

Tentatively only one prize per donor (this could change though) and just because a donation is made does not guarantee winning a prize.

Fund raiser will run up until July 4th Prize drawings will take place a few days later, Donations MUST be confirmed to be eligible.

The Prize Structure will follow shortly

No prize tiers this year and while there is no "minimum" donation amount please remember that we are talking about cigar prizes that for the most part are worth at least $50 and much more considering all the Full boxes of smokes being offered.

Each box cost roughly $15 to ship. That is as easy as winning one less fiver this month, or sending one less PIB/Trade/RAOK etc

Now just a few bits of FYI

OpFTH is a 501(c) Non-profit
None of the Agents or Directors take a salary, we are 100% volunteer
The main office (smitty22 in Roseville MI) spends roughly $500 a month in shipping give or take.
close to 80% of OpFTH's shipping funds come from the fine B/SOTL here on CBid
The annual 4th of July C-A-T accounts for roughly 60% of the Annual funds used each year
Right now There is very little funds in the OpFTH account, which means smitty self funds shipping cost until more funds come in.
As long as there are Soldiers fighting abroad OpFTH will continue to send packages
There are currently about 20 on our shipping list

If you know of someone serving over there, please get me their APO and expected ship home month (as best as OPSEC rules allow) and I will get them added to the shipping list

And as always I extend my, Bill and the rest of the OpFTH family's MANY THANKS to ALL that continue to donate and allow us to keep sending as many packages as possible to those Soldiers that are risking their lives for our better good.

and finally here are some links to help

on facebook
https://www.facebook.com/opfth?fref=ts

on Crowdrise
https://www.crowdrise.com/OperationFromtheHeart

Cafe Press (link through and buy OpFTH themed goods)
http://www.opfth.com/

Good Search (search engine that donates for every search to the charity you choose, and also has many online partners that donate for purchases)
http://www.goodsearch.com/

And as always...THANK YOU for your continued support of OpFTH

disclaimer, I, ypetryna, am not an agent of OpFTH. Todd usually throws this party but he is unable to do so but it needs to happen so I volunteer, not that I do much other than get this started and keep track of the prize donations and drawing.

Thank You

PS – any suggestions or if you find any errors with this post please let me know so I can update the thread appropriately. Thank you.

PPS - thanks for helping me successfully run this for the last couple of years. I know Schmitty appreciates all your help too

Whoop!!!! I will definitely be getting a t-shirt with some extra $ added on.

Plus...I will offer up a Stinger's Singles Sack (bag full of cigars).

Plus...I will take myself out of the running for any of the "prizes" (I have been the target of a few too many hits this year and shall work on repaying the kindness inflicted upon me).

Thanks for putting this together again Yaro.

will the T-shirt design change this year, or will they be selling the same ones that they did last year?

I'll continue my monthly $10 donation via Paypal for another year and will make a cash donation...

also will put together a SoCal Sunshine prize package for the donor pool...

The prizes are gifts by CBidders to this fundraiser to provide some incentives to boost the number of donors. Prizes are awarded by lottery after the fundraiser, by Yaro, to donors who make at least a minimum donation of cash or cigars.

CBidders who pledge to donate a prize will put together a bomb of sorts... components at their discretion. (DED END Prize is something DED puts together annually for this fundraiser, and is considered a major trophy).

The pool of these prizes will then be awarded by drawing to those who have made the minimum donation. Prizes typically have a few cigars and some treats and/or some swag - again made according to the imagination of the donor.

Donating the minimum gets you into the prize lottery, but doesn't guarantee that you'll win a prize. There is a possibility that one donor can win more than one prize, when some donors of prizes exempt themselves from the prize drawing. But if there are many more donors than prizes, which is usually the case, then some donors may not win a prize in the drawing/ lottery.

Hope this is helpful.

prizes can be anything that the giver wants to include...in most past instances, the member giving some booze would package it with a few cigars...some have chosen to donate only a selection of cigars...others only the bottle

others have tossed into their prize boxes consumables that are unique to the area where they reside...Palama and Mandobro are famous for sending out goodies produced in their home states: Hawaii and Maine, respectively...

if you want to donate a prize package to the donors drawing, just commit by posting your intent...you don't have to say what your prize will consist of...most like to keep it a secret so that the recipient will be surprised...this is like the Secret Santa deal in July...

when the fundraiser is over, Yaro will conduct a drawing to determine who will receive which prize...he'll post that info here, and the giver is then responsible for getting the address of the lucky winner, and sending the prize out

Will donate/order a shirt. Will give said shirt to my old lady, because to me a shirt without a pocket is a just rag to change the oil on the car with.

Keep up the good work DK. I guess we don't have to take you to the guillotine yet...

No pocket? Pretty sure the pic on the site is only of the back of the shirt. The last couple of shirts have had pockets.

The picture denotes it as the front of the shirt sans pocket... because if you click the spinny option, it shows the back as blank. I think? I dunno.

I guess if they do have pockets again, I'll wear it and my old lady will be out of luck. Or I'll get two, and if the are sans pocket I'll give one to my son also then.

Hey DK, do you know if these have pockets as previous shirts did?

Upon further review (i.e., going to the site on our iMac instead of phone...), I stand corrected, it's the front. So unless the pic is for "Demonstration purposes. Actual placement may change without notice", looks like there won't be a pocket this year. Gonz
