F it. Let it roll.

Yeah lots of storage but it's not a big $ soaker. TB level drives are pretty cheap these days (5 TB for about $100). The budget for the digital art student that was given to us is $1,500. The profile is a student using it for traditional school stuff along with creating models, 3D printing and animation.

I didn't consider a stylus and digital pad, is this a thing for them? I don't know specifically what typically use, I haven't really researched it much yet. I should call my niece and get her input, she does the graphic design for a living.

A stylus and digital pad let's an artist draw freehand digitally. Think of it an an electronic pen and paper. Not a necessity with your budget. You might also want to think of a raid 1 (mirrored drives) storage setup if you were building this for real.

$1500 budget for a graphic arts machine? Better off getting them some water colors and lots of paper. I could spend that on just the graphics card! Good luck getting any Mac at that price and having cash left over for software. You might have to go PC (which is just as good as a Mac these days for Graphics.) A software suite will run you from $150 to $300 at the bottom end if you are rendering and animating. Do you have to include a 3d printer in your budget? Who is teaching this course? I'd like to have a talk with them.

Edit: Since this is for a student make sure you use the student discount price for software when you do your budget not off the shelf prices. Lots of places will also give you student prices on hardware too. Especially if it's not a custom build.

Haven't been in years, but we would hit up crepe stand daily on the main street. The only problem is there are too many good flavors to choose from.

Semi in front of me delaminated a tire and the remnants caught the wiring under my camper, ripping a big portion out from underneath and broke off of the brakes. So for over half my drive I had no trailer lights and no trailer brakes.

Bought some wire nuts and an extension cord and I think i got it together again. Haven't plugged it into the truck to test. Should probably do that since I'm done for the day now.

Yeah, some of the same questions I had as I just started looking into it. I think her system guidelines and grading rubric (WTF - this stupid rubric thing classes are doing now) is rather out dated. She references using vendors such as Newegg, TigerDirect and Micro Center as resources. Seems so 2010. Those are places I'd typically go to get an older refurbished setup. Maybe that's her idea, budget conscience for an entry level machine.

Talked to my niece and she says 4k Retina type display for true and vivid colors is a must. She said that she does most of her work on a tablet. It's portable and can review designs with her clients and stores the files on the cloud. It also allows her to mirror what she's working with on the tablet screen to any desktop screen. Her stuff isn't animation, mostly ad copy stuff, book cover artwork things like that. But she also has a desk top because the Adobe mobile stuff doesn't have the tools you really need.

$1500 will get you something that might work for all the stuff the prof is asking but it ain't gonna do any of it well. I could come up with something for the budget she's given and then explain this isn't really enough for a great system but I'm not sure she'd be open to a modern day reality check. I'm not looking for a debate, I'm looking for a grade.

I think I'll just do the $800 family scenario: general web surfing, email, video streaming, household finances, basic word processing. The software part there would be cheap: email and browsers are free, open source LibreOffice... Hardware: a $300-400 laptop for portability, upgrade to 8 GB RAM, 256 SSD or 320 HDD (if storage space for fluffy's pictures is an issue use one of the many free cloud storage options), ink jet printer, 24" display when stationed at home, full sized keyboard and mouse when stationed at home. Internet connection: broadband and in home WiFi (this stuff is bundled with your TV so I won't count it for the computer budget).

I'm "reinventing" myself and going back to school for another more marketable degree. Going for IT network stuff and this class is one of the entry level IT classes - the core classes are yet to come. The degree won't be too far off since a most of the math, statistics, physics, general education stuff transferred over from my previous schooling. Besides, my current employer has a benefit with a 3rd party that covers full tuition costs and books for select programs I'd be stupid to not take advantage of it.

I see the remnants of these retreads all the time on the highways. Wondered why these haven't been banned yet. Them things could kill someone when they let go.

Retreads are safe and no more likely to blow than a virgin tire, trust me it sucks. The company I work for does take damn good of there equipment. Sometimes chit happens, it’s not like I’m looking to blow a tire. And pizz away hours waiting for some half ass mechanic on an roadside emergency charging 100 bucks and hour and 10 cents a mile, and charging a ridiculous tire price. I’ve paid almost 600 bucks to get rolling before. Takes a nice chunk out of the profit of a load. Summer time is the worst, when temps are in the 90’s it’s unbelievable how hot the tires get rolling down the interstate at 70mph. Oh and that’s not counting the cost of it rips electrical wires, mud flaps, mud flap brackets, and air lines, or breaks any cross members when it blows. Then you up in the thousands because of a blown tire.

Happy Saturday fellas.

Tested trailer lights. Brake lights and turn signal don't work on the left. I think that's a preexisting bulb issue, side marker lights blink.

One brake light is better than none.

Truth. I hope I have brakes on the way home.

I'm sure you're well acquainted with westbound I94 traffic on a summer Sunday. I usually get off and take 20 from the Redamaks exit to the fireworks place. But either route, kinda need the brakes to work since you use em more than the throttle.

Big breakfast this morning. Got up at dawn, peeled and shredded 4 big taters and rinsed the shreds. Put a pound of bacon on the Blackstone and set aside. Fried a pound of sausage and shoved it to the back. Half a giant onion and a bell pepper diced and fried in the grease, mixed with the sausage and piled to the side. Put the tater shreds on and drizzled with the meat drippings, fried till they got a nice crust. Seasoned everything and then scrambled a dozen eggs, chopped the bacon and tossed everything together on the heat. Shoveled it all into a big pot, shredded a block of cheddar to top and then filled a bunch of tortillas and delivered to the crew.

Ran out before I fed myself so I made an English muffin and egg. Washed down with a beer.

Rubbed my Boston butt and wrapped in foil to sit out and warm up. Not entirely sure its fully thawed so it'll sit out for a bit before I put it on the grill. Brought my kamado instead of the WSM since I'm just doing one small thing. Shot myself in the foot though, was gonna do burgers for lunch and now the grills gonna be occupied. Can do them on the griddle but it doesn't get hot enough to make em how I like with a seared crust and crispy edges.

Pretty sure Breckinridge is under 10,000 ft. The top of the ski slopes might be 13,000 though. I once went on a bike ride with full packs (capming gear) that went over three mountain passes in the Rockies that were over 12,000. It was a slow grind up those. Some of the most fantastic scenery though.
