Having less payed holidays each year is what Republicans call “continuous improvement”.

I don't think that makes smallpox a fair trade... syphilis is more a right of passage thing.

Same.

Here in MA they have a few more manufactured paid holidays for state government.

Patriots' Day - a state holiday sometime in April. Something I never heard of until I transplanted here. I guess it's to commemorate the battles of Lexington and Concord.

Let's not stop there. Suffolk County (the county where Boston and the surrounding areas are located) gets Bunker Hill Day off, that's sometime in June.

If these bogus things are holidays why not the Monday after the Superbowl? A good chunk of folks are too hungover to work anyway.

Yep, Superbowl Monday should definitely be a national holiday. The fact that it's not is a travesty.

Locally many people want to trade Columbus Day for Indigenous Day. I kinda like the idea.

Here are the facts:

The British and French colonized what is now the USA and Canada. The Spanish and Portuguese colonized what is now Mexico and ALL of South America.

Why do we obsess over this and nobody else does? Answer: Democrats.

The Spanish also colonized a good part of what is now the continental USA.
As far as the Democrats go, although Columbus never set foot on the the continent, word has it among progressive circles that Columbus was a racist, homophobic, transphobic misogynist and therefore must be cancelled from history.

On this eve of Yom Kippur I'll share that Isreal crossed the Jordan & took the land of Cannan from about 32 pagan tribes of people's that were being judged by God. They never did obey the order completely. Allowing rather for the pleasures of the flesh instead of complete obedience to God. Which caused them great pain & misery to this day.

Just like you and I. But first you must cross over the Jordan than you can fight the good fight

The Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence and violent men take it by force.

That's to say men of such faith for impetuous zeal to grasp at blessing, pardon & peace will have it!

Or as the prophet Jeremiah puts it " your new life will be to you as booty"

America's founding history is also uniquely similar to this picture type (unlike other new world nations)
The book "The Light and the Glory" by David Manuel sheds bright light on this & is a classic. Written in 1973 & highly recommended!

Before someone accuses me of calling for jihad let me quote the apostle
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."

"for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses."

Now, "quit ye like men"

As for Columbus- never did find a short cut for Indian food takeout so... Fail. (They could put that on his monuments for all I care) He did find tobacco though so there's that.

The pilgrims however, that's another story and "The Light and the Glory" is an excellent read on the matter.

I'd trade columbus day for pilgrims day but I guess that's Thanksgiving. (The best American holiday imo) Which does rightly honor the indigenous contribution to our nations founding.
So maybe Columbus day for tobaccos sake?

Slaughtering 32 tribes of polytheists is ok because they like to "f*ck a little too much" is considered something to celebrate?

So evil(murder) < evil(f*cking)... got it.

So 1st degree sodomy should be a capital offense... if I'm understanding the lore correctly.

The pilgrims are highly overrated, they were the first progressive types, the first to experiment with forming a proto-Marxist society in N. America, as short-lived as it was.
They must have been really annoying in the homeland, which is why they were persecuted. Their puritanism continued to disturb the peace as they hated anybody that was not like themselves, they even persecuted and killed their own as suspected witches. They were real busybodies that were later known as "Yankees"
H.L. Mencken later defined Puritanism as: "The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy.”.

So RayRay would be in favor of going back in time and slaughtering the Natives (Hey, you stretch my words, I'll stretch yours).

The fullness of the caannanite iniquity can't be summed up with sexual sin.
The offerings to the god Molech though...

All His judgements are Good and Perfectly Righteous.
Even if you don't understand them now.
Rahab the harlot(one of the judged people's) understood and entered into the covenant line of Messiah.
So as the psalmist says:
there is mercy with God Which is why He can be feared

Damn God! I KNOW-IT-All,who the fu*k is he to tell me what to do.

Rather kill flies with a sledgehammer. It's a good work-out, and if you miss, you still have your way cancelling someone else's FREEDOM. Eloquent fashion is overrated.
