Shipping Delay Tricks - Anyone tried this?

I have no current need or desire to try this but I'm curious if it's possible.

If I have shipping set for Thursdays, win some cigar lots, then on Wednesday change my shipping preference to Tuesdays...

Will my winning lots be held until the next week Tuesday? Allowing me to add more winning lots to the order thus getting the combined shipping deal on more cigars? Huh

Yeah yeah, it's just a few bucks savings and the shipping preference is only changeable once every seven days so you couldn't do this indefinitely.

But is it possible?

I don't know why. Other than I'm always curious about messing with the system.

Tell Aaron his dad is a cheapskate.

I think that would probably work, give it a shot and see.

I could never do that, though, I need the smokes delivered ASAP to satisfy my OCD.

This does work. Did it last week because I only had winning bids on a couple singles.

I heard that you can change your shipping frequency everyday with platinum membership. I wish I could afford it.

Interesting!
Going one way you gain two days but switching the other way you gain five.
So you have to wait a week between every other order then? Or do you? Am I doing the math all wrong?
Dang. I need to look at a calendar and think this out. Think
I swear this site is a bit like crack to a cigar smoker. I'm thinking I better just take what I've won so far and get out of here before I both go broke and run out of humidor space completely.

pretty sure the ship date is what you selected for your account as of the date you won that specific item...

changing your ship date preference after you win won't change the ship date for that item

Yeah you have to wait a week in between changed. So you can do it, gain a few days. But have to wait a week after you change it to change it back, then wait another week to do it. It works if you don't order too often. I set it for Thursdays. Then on Wednesday I change shipping to Tuesday so I can get the extra days. It does save on shipping if you win enough bids. Since I don't order often enough I don't mind waiting a week in between the changes. But like you said you can get two days one way and 5 the next. If you order often enough do it that way. If you are monthly or every other, switch it ahead of time back to Thursdays so you can get the 5 days again

Interesting possibility, I hadn't thought about that.
Although Cheno says he does it all the time.

Now I'm tempted to play with it just to see if it would work. Think

Actually I think you can work it more than that.

Let's start with this week.
Tues 23 Order ships
Fri 26 switch to Thursday shipping
Thur 1 Order ships
Wed 7 switch to Tue shipping
Tue 13 Order ships
Fri 16 switch to Thur shipping
Thur 22 Order ships
Wed 28 switch to Tue shipping
Tue 4 Order ships
... and on and on.

So if one were to order regularly - every week - the orders would ship on Tuesday, the following Thursday, SKIP a week, then Tuesday, the following Thursday, SKIP a week...

But that's going from an entertaining intellectual exercise to something a little too close to work. If one were ordering that regularly the shipping wouldn't matter much.

I think this is a cheap, caddy, petty, trifling, and legalistic way to cheat a large corporation.

I love it.

Yup. Story of my life. It's just the way my brain works.
I've spent days working on goofy projects in the garage that I realized were doomed to fail once I got 'em to the finishing stages.

But I could be staring at the boobtoob turning my brain to bacon jam.
