Here in the sleepy town of Gardner, gonna have a gathering at Memorial Park (a block away from me) then a little parade followed by the reopening/dedication ceremony of a bridge in town that they've been working of for like forever.

They are also going to reopen the Polish American Veterans Square, adjacent to the bridge. It will be rededicated with a new statue which commemorates the numerous Gardner veterans of Polish descent.

Big happenings in Gardner, MA. Curious to see how the new Polak Veterans square will look considering it's actually a triangle where three side streets come together near the bridge (shhh... don't tell them that a square has four sides).

All ribbing aside, I'm looking forward the the official start of a new summer even though the weather may be crappy and rain on the parade.

What youze doin?

Well, we do have a large population of French Canadian heritage in town too. I'm guessing they just gave up and surrendered before any plans were put on the table.

Always put out flags, for my friends that didn't make it back. Plus listen to the car and trucks honk in recognition of the sacrifice.

Swim some laps at the lap pool, hit the mall for a return, float in my pool. Grill and bar-b-cue flank steak. Have a good time with my family

We went to the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery and paid our respects early this morning. We are going to the local VFW to help them honor their fallen brothers and sisters. We are throwing a BBQ for them and their families. We had not planned on going, feeling we would be outsiders intruding on their day. We were asked to attend multiple times so we agreed to. Plus, we really do want to hear their experiences.

Put Old Glory on the pole holder in front of the house this morning.

been prepping the pool since Saturday for a party for my kids and their kids and SIL's Mom...had to clean it (and the patio/bar/grill area since pool-man has been off for a couple of weeks...cleaned and now being heated...

smoking a tri-tip roast, heating up some wings (hopefully without setting off the smoke alarms). SIL's Mom bringing deviled eggs, daughter bringing cookies and a couple of salads (she and SIL are dieting), son will bring corn on cob, fresh fruit and cornbread...

then into the pool...gonna be 85 today, bright and sunny...perfect weather for a pool party...
