smh...that RS (real stoopid) fella from Dumbfries is gonna be surprised when the package of his winnings arrives with two single cigars instead of two boxes...

he prolly finished his education at about the 3rd grade, when picture books fell out of the rotation...picture shows a box... English description reads "single" ...he sees "single box"

...and is elated he won two unit "boxes" at that price...

I give up. People are paying ridonculous prices here for stuff that should be WAY cheaper.

I kept trying to win a fiver of something to try it out, but ended up just getting a ten pack on freefall (no fiver on free fall) because of the ridiculous overbidding in the auctions...

There are VERY FEW cigars here that I would bid on so I really appreciate those overbidders that help keep the lights on. ThumpUp

Bid $16 per cigar for a stick that has an MSRP of $7.50 and that probably offers $2 per flavor! SAD!

https://www.cigarbid.com...o-trace-cigars/3959545/

Buffalo Trace Robusto (5.0"x49) Single
DESCRIPTION
A Legendary duo. Cigars and bourbon.
You just can’t beat it. Especially from a trusted, veteran brand like Buffalo Trace. I’ve had my fair share of swigs of this stuff and its as delicious as everyone says it is. Now, it’s time to introduce Buffalo Trace cigars and aficionados can barely contain their excitement, myself included. With over 200 years in the business its about time they delve into the premium cigar market.
Buffalo Trace cigars start off with a potent yet balanced mix of barrel aged Piloto Cubano and Nicaraguan long-filler tobaccos that are encased inside a Brazilian Arapiraca binder and then finished with dark, oily Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. Expect notes of cedar, cashews, and leather with hints of vanilla and spice on the finish. Incredibly balanced and unique, Buffalo Trace adds another ‘W’ to their resume and delivers one of the finest cigars we’ve had in long time. Oh, and it pairs exceptionally well with a few fingers of the good stuff.

It has been my experience in these type of auctions that there are purposeful bidders who always bid high. So you have to ask yourself who benefits from this? Certainly not those legitimate buyers who are looking for a deal. The only one who can possibly benefit from this are those who are selling the cigars on this site.

Just like there are people who purposely give five star reviews on Amazon for money there are people who are paid to inflate the prices at these auction sites. Now the big question is who's paying them?

Yes well there is that... But from my experience it is usually a concerted effort on the part of those who have the most to gain to game the system. Online auctions are notorious for being" fixed."

I and others have looked at what might be shill bidding here and no one has been found. It has turned out that some ebay resellers were buying accessories to resell and raising the win prices of those accessories. We also have one who resells to his "friends", but he just raises prices above bargain level. Most of the overbidding is done by stupidity (like SOB said) and gross negligence along with no attempt to estimate what a good bid price should be. Then there is blindness of the bidding frenzy- which makes any kind of auction profitable for the auctioneer.

An MSRP is $50 each! BP must be getting a steal at $12.

Too much to drink? I just overbid on 4 cigars thinking the bid amount was for all 4. $9 per cigar for sticks worth $3. Won't do that again.

I'm sure this has been brought up before, but as a noobie, One thing I've noticed, that I think explains some of the crazier overbids, is that when I scroll through the boxes where you put your bid amounts, they go way up, and down, depending which way you are scrolling. It almost got me once, when I put my bid in, and then scrolled down to check something in the description, the bid amounts were altered. Apparently, if you bid over a certain number of units, it asks if you meant to do that, which i didn't. Saved me a fortune.

Yup, been that way for as long as I have been here. If your mouse pointer is on top of either the bid or max bid box and you use a scroll wheel, the value in the box your pointer starts over will increment quickly when you scroll.

In these cases though, I suspect dumb bidders. The dollar amounts are too specific and sometimes are not horribly overbid, just ridiculously overbid.

Step 1: Call
Step 2: Wait
Step 3: Profit

I have gotten through in under 20 minutes both times I called, but others have reported up to an hour wait (or more) on the phone.
