Cello on, or cello off?

I know, it's like asking, Ginger, or MaryAnn.... we all have our preferences and for good reasons that may be only our own. This topic may have been covered here before, but since it's an ongoing thing for most of us, maybe it can be revisited. Some of us may have changed our minds over time... like, you know, MaryAnn can really throw together a mean coconut creme pie, and with those little shorts and pigtails, I mean, damn.... But, then, Ginger...tall, slender, Ginger... in that sparkly split dress, those legs... and red hair... well... that's a choice that may change from day to day. Like cello. ON or OFF?
Personally, I like both, and this is something I've sort of come to do over time. I'm not locked into one brand, or one size, wrapper, strength or flavor profile. I just like cigars. ALL kinds of cigars, and I have several different offerings in my humidors pretty much all the time. The bulk of my stock, I leave in the cello. But, I will take a few different ones out and let them lay naked in the humidor for anywhere from a few days to a few weeks and then choose my daily smokes from that lot. I don't worry about flavors marrying. I just let the tobacco do what it does and then enjoy it as it is. Usually, I will get a better burn, better draw, and a more flavorful smoke from my stash that way. Not to mention, the aroma that greets my nasal passages when I open a humidor full of naked cigars. Well, it's even better than coconut creme pie.
I'm interested in hearing what you think.
By the way, for my money, it's MaryAnn, all the way, with the cello off, covered in coconut creme... no wait... Ginger. NO, wait, MaryAnn, no wait.... oh crap.

I think you should keep doing what you’re doing and not GAF about what anybody else says.

As long as you remove the cello before lighting up you should be good.

I think it's a false dichotomy. They both have advantages. People act like it has to be one or the other and like they really know which is best for everyone. As if you have to make a choice.

Why not MaryAnn AND Ginger? Go big or go home.

Cigars? Definitely cello on. I'm way to clumsy to go rummaging through a bunch of naked smokes all the time.

On for long term storage

Off if I'm gonna smoke 'em soon (soon means a year or so)

On.

I write the acquisition date directly on the cello... Sharpie on the wrapper leaf might taste funny.

If you only have one brand in your humidor removing the cello is best. Allows the tobacco to marry properly. It does make a noticeable difference.

If you have multiple brands push the cigar to the END of the open end of the cello and clip off the remaining closed end.

Both ends are now open and your wrapper is protected from getting oil from other brands which may change the flavor of your cigar in a negative way.

and NEVER store regular sticks with ACID or other infused brands. I got a separate small 20-count humidor I use only for bizarre smelling infused smokes.

Have you ever noticed that the cello which stayed on cigars over long periods is yellow? Seems like a lot of flavor getting tossed. YMMV.

I trim the ends of the cellos so they're open but leave the rest on for wrapper protection.
