New Pen Day!

Missed this sale last year on a Black Friday deal, a real 50% off on this pen is a once in a year price!

Lamy 2000 is a piston filler with a 14K F nib, designed in 1966.

Ink is Waterman Serenity Blue.

Nice! Been debating between a L2K and Sailer for a while. Neither are in budget just yet, but it would make a good promotion gift for myself when q3 hits

Beautiful, great score!

I used an inexpensive Waterman fountain pen to take notes at work. We had a large scape plotter in our building so I picked up the trimmings that I cut into squares. Nothing like writing with a good fountain pen on excellent paper.

Lammy looks nice!

It's not fancy, but I am using a TWSBI ECO right now and I love it.

Stogie, I love my Eco's! TWSBI in general gets looked over, but for steel nib pens, I feel they're some of the best out there

I also like my TWSBI, I have a 580AL surprisingly a great writer.

Not a fan of Lamy Safari's but the design of this and being a piston filler - well I just had to have one!

IMO a big difference in the feel between a Sailor and Lamy nibs. Sailor nibs are known to have a "pencil" feel when you write where Lamy offers a smoother writing experience.

The only Sailor pen I am waiting for is a Pro Gear Realo - piston filler - 21K tri-color nib in medium or broad. Japanese nibs are ground finer then European nibs and since I don't like the pencil feel the medium and broad are the smoothest!

It definitely got smoother after a few months of use. Currently using Pilot Namiki Blue ink.

My only gripe is the screw off cap. If I need to jot something down fast, I grab the Pilot Metropolitan since I can pop off the cap one handed and jot down a note.

The pen I carry most often is my Pilot Vanishing Point with an 18K M nib.
One handed fountain pen, clicks open like a ballpoint.
VP's do not hold a lot of ink but for quick notes and a signature here and there they rock.

I’ve got a full suitcase of various pens,
each with their own special purpose.
Carry it with me always.

I was hesitant to reveal this earlier
Because I was afraid that everyone would think I was a dork.
But I feel much more comfortable in your company.

Thanks fellas...

I won't spend more than $10 on anything.

Had a real hard time finding a house.

When you put it that way... I've spent $35-$40 on a single smoke and I torched it.

I don't begrudge anyone their hobbies. It's their money. I spend hundreds on fishing gear. *shrug*

I understand, I don't want to think about what I've spent on cigars, knives or (Classified!) firearms. Shame on you

Need to find a nice pen for a client, budget is $200 max. Was looking at a Sailor Pro Slim, but I am concerned it will be too small.

Any ideas?

Lamy 2k?

Pilot Custom 74?

Keep in mind Japanese nibs write smaller then Western.

Lamy 2K is cool but some may be put off by bottle fill only as well as the lugs to hold the cap on.
Also 2K's are known for having a sweet spot for a smooth writing experience. Not for beginners IMHO

Custom 74 with M nib is very nice indeed! Smooth and you can use bottle or cartridge. I have one but I want the 823 which is a tad larger.

Sailor Small is smaller then 74 if I recall... Sailor nibs are not as smooth as Pilot .

I just picked up a Esterbrook Estie in cobalt, fitted with F Jowo German nib. The Estie is a really nice sized FP, I cannot say enough good things about them.

Quick cap on/off, Jowo nib, bottle or cartridge and can be found for 150-175 range.

Let me know what you got even if this is late!

Chris

Gave my Lamy 2000 to my son at Christmas, my grip and writing style is not conducive to the 2000 nib, its known for having a sweet spot and in this case I always had trouble finding it!

Since then I did pick up a Lamy Studio LX All Black, writes nice, although the section is a bit narrow I have no problem getting good ink out of it and its cool looking too!

Added a Pelikan Stolla that has a wet nib and a pull cap so its good for quick notes, comfortable section to write with.

Just last week visited Atlas Stationers in downtown Chicago for some ink, they really expanded their selection, worth a visit if you are near and in need of pens, inks and paper. Great family run business and friends.

Left with three bottles of ink, a Lamy Safari to penable a friend and a stunning Narwahl Schuylkill piston filler for myself! What a great $60 pen!! Nibs are tuned at the factory and it writes like butter! Really surprised me, a bit of a dry writer but I will try other inks to find one that flows the way I like.

Congrats on the acquisitions, waldo!

That pelikan is intriguing, although I have really warmed up to the prera. I just wish it were an inch longer (yeah yeah).

She said the same to me about missing that sweet spot!!

Prera is a good pen for the money! What size nib did you get? Asian nibs run thinner then Western so with Pilots I have to have at least a M.

Only drawback on the Stolla as well as the Narwhal I just got - the caps don't post.....I do like to post caps as I like the way it looks as well as a counter balance.

Atlas Stationers Chicago is having their annual Sidewalk Sale August 18/19!
There will be at least a dozen brands and vendors on hand with better then usual discount.

What should I get?

I'm thinking about an Opus 88 Demo eyedropper in in red, nice writer and very affordable.
If Leonardo is there and the price is "write" I'll pull the trigger on one of those!

Another New Pen Day!

Picked myself up a Leonardo Momento Zero - Hawaii, with a medium nib at the Atlas Sidewalk Sale.
This pen has got a real good feel to it, nice weight and dimensions, very similar in size to my Pelikan M805 and I am really impressed with how smooth this writes - right out of the box,

AND Stogie the cap can be posted!

Couple bottles of ink and a new journal too.

I agree about Montblanc, I carried my 149 for almost 20 years in the breast pocket of my suit coats. Always inked and flew weekly with it.

Many brag about the Japanese nibs but I prefer the smoothness of my MB, Pelikan, Lamy as well as JoWo on my Estie!

I have a few vintage Sheaffers - I like snorkels and Targas, I got greedy and sold my Waterman Edson, another super smooth writer!

Write On!

Itsawaldo- have you seen the Métis by Yookers? Think felt tip pen using fountain pen ink. Very nice. Glides across the paper nicely, almost like a wet fountain pen. 4 different sizes of tips (.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.4) which basically translate to XF, F, M, and broad nibs.
