Turkey
Stuffing
Taters
Some veggie or two
Some yam pie with marshmallows thingy (I think it's a New England thing, I don't remember it being part of any meal in WI)
Some other pie or two
Nap
Football
Homework

Don't really know of anything noteworthy beyond that but it will be simple since there will prolly only be about 6 of us. I'm not the main chef, just a participant. So far my only assigned duties are to peel the taters for cooking and mashing but I'll prolly get rooked into doing something else.

I’ll make turkey pot pies from the leftovers since it will just be three people.

Prime rib
Stuffing
Mixed veggies
Ice cream

I make a mean stuffing... and I don't need no stinkin' turkey to stuff it into, neither!

me too...I make a stuffing casserole that I cook up in a dish, and do not put any into a turkey. I put aromatic herbs and veggies into the bird...

Thanksgiving dinner will be a collaborative effort, thankfully...in years past I did all the cooking and finally griped about it last year...

Roast turkey with a couple extra thighs, since most of my family, especially my wife, prefer dark meat (guess that's why she was attracted to me in the first place)...me
Honeybaked ham...sister bringing
Chinese chicken pan fried noodles...sister bringing for the grand daughters
stuffing casserole...me
mashed potatoes...me...SIL's mom's fave
turkey gravy from scratch...me
green bean casserole...my SIL's mother will bring
cranberry sauce...daughter making from fresh berries
two kinds of pumpkin pie...daughter's fluffy recipe and SIL's mom's traditional recipe

Having a BOTL from my local shop , who's alone for the 1st time since his wife died, over for dinner and football...

Menu was pretty much set two weeks ago.

Ordered from Chef Chai’s Pacifica restaurant:

Naked Jumbo Black Tiger Prawns made with a Lemongrass Garlic Vinaigrette
Soup - Roasted Kabocha Pumpkin and Lobster Bisque
Entree - Roasted Turkey with Thai Sticky Rice, chestnut stuffing, giblet gravy, young French long beans, baby carrot and cranberry apricot chutney
Dessert - Chocolate cake with pumpkins mousse and French berries.

Daughter is gonna make mashed potatoes
SIL doing his Green Bean Casserole using a recipe from a h.s. classmate of mine
Son is bringing fresh poke and Hamachi for sashimi
Wife is gonna make cranberry jello and Pumpkin Surprise for dessert

I was hesitant about ordering the meal since I genuinely like turkey and the leftover meals afterwards. I fear there won’t be enough turkey to last 4-5 days.

Just the wife and I this year - we’ll see the kid Saturday.

Turkey, Ham, stuffing, green beans, Crudite (that’s a veggie plate with ranch), mashed potato with garlic and parsley.
French bread - but also Burn-N-Serve roles (tradition)
Punkin pie with whipped cream.
Chardonnay and Pinot noir
Cognac and Scotch

Hope all you boys have a great one!

We’ll be having a few Walt and Dutton Goldfield Pinots for certain!

Pinot has become my standard Thanksgiving wine. The daughter has got into petite Syrah so I’ll have a bottle on hand.

interestingly (at least to me) is that we have no word in English for the parents of our married children's spouses...does that make sense?

In Yiddish, my married daughter's in-laws are called our machatunim...the "im" makes it plural, the "ch" is pronounced as if you are clearing a pube from your throat...ma-cha-Tun-im

I'm gud wif wirds.

No pumpkin pie here this year. I married into a Scando family and one of their traditional dishes for desert is cranberry muffins with hot butter sauce.

Menu add-ons:

Salami and cheese tray
Steamed yams
Steamed sweet potatoes

I also bought some Okinawan sweet potatoes but wife said we have enough starch.

And one of our daughter’s co-workers gave her a pan of Pumpkin Crunch so my wife took that off of her To-Do list.

Turkey on the BGE. Bone on breast in the oven. Home made Stouffer's mac 'n cheese (from their recipe), home made Cinnabon pie (we got the recipe once again), apple crisp, pumpkin pie, wine, mashed potatoes and gravy, yams, corn souffle, etc., etc. Gonna eat like a pig for 10-15 minutes, then pass-out with a cigar and some football.

The entire meal lasted 25 minutes before we were on the couch waiting until we were able to have desert. In comparison (timewise), it took me longer to do all the dishes.

turned out there were even a few more things offered. It was sick. I doubt we ate even 5% of the food.
Already plated up and labeled a few turkey dinners for the freezer.
Might make a turkey pot pie this weekend.

Missed our son and his family...they took the train up to Portland to spend the holiday with his wife's brother.

We had my daughter and her family, SIL's Mom, my older sister ...they all took home leftovers...

and we still have a refrigerator so full, I had to put the turkey carcass into the outdoor fridge...

in the past few years, I've made rice porridge/soup with the turkey carcass...it's now part of the family tradition.
