Less than 6% of Afrcans are vaccinated, they don't wear face diapers and they have an extremely low number of cases, even the WHO admits it is "one of the least affected regions in the world.".
The "experts" predicted that the RONA would run rapidly across the continent and decimate the population but it didn't.

Jonsey, I think it is inevitable that we all eventually catch Omicron. The big question is as it mutated to be more transmissable has it mutated to be less deadly and severe?

It's generally in the best interest of the virus to not be deadly. Easier to spread if you're not killing your hosts.

BGZ, I do expect the virility to be far less. 50 mutations should greatly increase transmission and greatly decrease virility. But right now that is a should. The bigger concern IMHO is PASC/long haul.

Got it. MACS, the world has lost it's mind. What you are talking about and more is happening worldwide. So it is not just about us.

The worldwide events of today point to another global lockdown. The worldwide economy is much weaker than when the first lockdown started. Can our economy stand another lockdown? I am not sure that it can. Other countries economies will be destroyed, such as China and India. They both are on the brink of collapse as it is. This brings geopolitical considerations into play.

Any and all SARS-COVID2 related moves must also take economies into account. That is just the cold hard reality of it. I see SARS-COVID2 as a serious threat, not just something flu like as so many do. Yet even I realize mistakes of protocol and priority have occurred. We are at a dangerous point in time where errant decisions must be avoided.

Messaging must change. Also it is time to stop calling anyone wrong.

Wife, SIL and BIL are planning to visit the Philippines next year. They all got the shots because they want to go see family. I'd love to go with them. Haven't been back there since 1991. 30 freakin' years, man.

Just got back from Disney World... I can tell you from first hand experience... them mofos weren't scared... not a single one of them.

Disney making you mask up inside... in outside lines, ride operators cramming the maskless like sardines...

It was like old times... only thing I was thinking was f*ck... now I'm going to get the flu (forgot to get my flu shot).

Was talking to my old time friend from way back the other day, he said his brother wasn't getting the shot, I was like... I'm all about not getting sick man.

I was like, whatever, doesn't make much sense to me, I don't get it...

I mean... you were a sailor, I can only imagine all the random sh*t you put into your body on your travels. When you put it into real world context it sounds kinda silly not to get the shot.

At this point, in my mind it's like... get the shot, don't get the shot... I don't gaf, but I just don't get it... I'm already on my third one. I'm collecting shots like pokemon cards.

Can't wait till next year when I can get the shingles shot free. Is anyone alive that refused to get the polio vaccine when it first came out ? Where has Victor been lately ?

I got the vaccine and the booster, and will get future shots to stave off any viral variant that escapes the efficacy of current vaccines...

I spend too much time with my grandkids, who are not eligible for vaccines and who spend a lot of time in close proximity to other kids...for their protection...

and for my own safety as I suffer from old age and health issues that cause my immune system to be somewhat compromised.


Common sense to me since I have been frequently going out and about in public...in enclosed spaces with unknown ventilation systems with numerous strangers.

sure glad that the Omicron variant appeared...it will take the focus off of China, and maybe will reduce the anti-Asian hate that has been swirling since Trump pointed his finger of blame at them. It's been tough...had to wear a mask and grow a beard to try to disguise my roots when out and about...

Now we can focus our hate on blacks/Africans for causing more misery here...oh....wait...
