Originally studied as a drug to treat hypertension and some forms of heart disease, Sildenafil (generic name of Viagra) made it big in a different area - addressing impotence. Other than an erection lasting more than 3 hours, one side effect may reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer's.

Rather interesting if it panned out to be a viable treatment (all dI-C-K talk aside).

I have witnessed some elderly family members go through and die with Alzheimer's. It's sad to see folks that were strong and smart as a whip melt away from this progressive and incurable disease.

I've told my family that if I ever develop this in my latter years, just take me out in the woods and put a bullet in my head.
