I go on this sales call for a bathroom remodel from a lead from a dude I'm in class with and immediately realize this old man is clever.
I sub-out his bathroom (it's done & beautiful)
He takes me on another sales call and sells the the job for a third more than what I charge.

He made a commission sale that more than paid for his little Haddonfield bathroom pimp

Who can have more fun than people?
I think he did it to show me that money is free

Read up on the pledge of allegiance because of a RayR post. I learned a lot. And it was all contrary to what I believe in. Thanks RayR.

Lions are called King of Jungle, but they are neither king or in the jungle.

Tigers bigger, stronger, and more lethal than lions.

The live on the savanna. Not the jungle.

Incas sent virgins to their deaths on the tops of mountains. Knew that.

In their language, there is no word for Sacrifice. The virgins were not Sacrificed. They were Offerings to the sun god.

What a waste of a good virgin. Unless they were ugly and bitchy... then go ahead and toss them.

Anyone else ever see the action movie involving the man who was supposed to be sacrificed at the very top of the Inca/Mayan/ Aztec temple, but who escaped into the jungle where his people were from?

It is the one where they stupidly chased him deep into the jungle where he and his people lived before they captured him. He was "at home" in the jungle and therefore was able to kick their @sses. Also, ancient characters are supposedly speaking in their native tongue (mumbling) and so it also has subtitles.

Nope, missed that movie your description brings up memories.

True story, me and the Ex did our honeymoon in Playa Del Carmen. All inclusive resort.

We did a tour of the Mayan ruins in the area, Chichen Itza if my memory serves me correctly. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Castillo,_Chichen_Itza)

I walked up the stairs of the temple just fine... then when at the top, I turned around to picture the view. Vertigo set in.

After wandering around the temple and with the tour guide explaining the history and all that, I had to walk down the same stairs... they were totally open with no guard rails.. Just a rope down the center. The steps where like 10" deep on the landing (apparently they had little feet back then). One miss step or stumble, and gravity would take over as you you bounced on down the rock stairs.

I went down on my ass, one step at a time as if I was a 3 yr old. Yeah, when it comes to heights, I'm kind of a pu$$y. I'll admit it.

The 57 in Heinz 57 tomato catsup had no significance other than the owner liked the way it looked on the labor.

Not recently Recently Acquired Knowledge but kinda related to the Heinz thing but not really at all

If you visit the Velcro plant in NH, they frown on you using the word Velcro to refer to their product. It's hook and loop technology. Velcro is a trade name, its not a product.

{shrug} whatever... lets get going on the plant tour and some stupid project plans.

Learned a new approach watching a documentary. Something I need to see if I can regularly apply in my life.

Instead of Why is this happening to me? Alter it to Why is this happening for me? There is a lesson in the moment you are in. Need to take the time to figure out what it is.

The change of perspective is a nice reset.

^ Agree. Change in perspective is a good way to look at things.

Why is this happening for me?

I like to take it one bit further, "What did I learn and how can I apply it going forward?" Past couple years I had to do a deep look at where I was going and some decisions I've made in the past. I've made some changes, took a step back that hopefully will give positive results and lead to two steps forward.

With hormone therapy and a few medical procedures I might be able to pass as an ugly chick and work the street corners for used lottery tickets and a pack of butts.

(OK the first part is true, the last part is trying to add levity)

The Monopoly game man had a name. He was named in 1946 as Rich Uncle Pennybags.

Former Vice President of Parker Brothers, Phil Orbanes, claimed in an interview that it was J.P Morgan who inspired the iconic top hat and mustache look of Mr. Monopoly. The real J. P. Morgan, who was born in 1837, amassed a fortune of $80 million during his lifetime through investments, including in property.

An arroyo, also called a wash, is a dry creek, stream bed or gulch that temporarily or seasonally fills and flows after sufficient rain. Flash floods are common in arroyos following thunderstorms. In Spain and Latin America any small river is called an arroyo, flowing continually all year and never drying. The Spanish term for the subject of this article is rambla, while wadi is used in North Africa, and Western Asia. Arroyos provide a water source to desert animals. The desert dry wash biome is restricted to the arroyos of the southwestern United States.

Heard the term, never looked it up. Same when in Empire of the Summer Moon, when Calico was mentioned as something which was traded in the SW.

Was hard to believe there was that much money in cat herding.

Tasmanian Devils.

When a female is in heat, the Male TDs have to have their A game. Males only get their chance for 10 days, once a year.

So how is it different than guys after 10 years after marriage?

The Llano Estacado (Spanish: [ˈʝano estaˈkaðo]), sometimes translated into English as the Staked Plains,[2] is a region in the Southwestern United States that encompasses parts of eastern New Mexico and northwestern Texas. One of the largest mesas or tablelands on the North American continent,[2] the elevation rises from 3,000 feet (900 m) in the southeast to over 5,000 feet (1,500 m) in the northwest, sloping almost uniformly at about 10 feet per mile (1.9 m/km).[3]

Part of where Quanah Parker and the Comanche’s ran their business. Supposedly something to see.
