Hey fam,

Any fans of this one? It's been a while for me but was curious when the last one you had was and how it fared?

prolly depends on the year of production...

a few years ago, bought a box of PSD4 made in July 2014...half of them were great...the other half were poorly rolled, plugged and smoked hot and harsh...draw tool didn't help.

haven't bought any since, but I do like the Partagas Culebras...always have a box or two on hand.

There was once 16 vitolas in the PSD line. Four different ring gauges (ABCD) and four lengths (1234) for each. They were all the same blend but every one smoked differently due to the wrapper/binder/filler ratio. This was discontinued about 1960s. PSD#4 was reintroduced about 1975.

I was introduced them too

I love the PSD4 though really only have experience with '19 and haven't tried the other sizes I have waiting

While we're on the brand, Party shorts are good quick smokes. Pricier than they used to be though

Love the D No. 4's myself. Still have some left from a big haul when I was in Italy and just got today a box of tubos from a trusted vendor. Box says Feb 21, so they might be a bit young yet we will see. One great thing about the Party Shorts is they never seem to need any rest, great ROTT, but Sunover is correct, the price has gone up!

Me being me, I could not resist firing up one of my recently delivered Feb '21 stamped D-4's, despite it being cold and snowy outside. I said "box" above, but what I ordered was 5, 3-packs of tubos. Came wrapped together with a humi-pack inside.

When it comes to taste and flavor, people are going to be different. Hey, it's subjective. What I like, you might not like. Just the way it is.

One thing you can't argue about is quality construction, and this had it. Perfectly rolled. No blemishes. Easy to cut. Lights with just a touch of flame. Razor sharp burn. Firm (dark grey) ash that would not fall off. Perfect draw. The commies still doin' it right!

As to the taste, it started off with a salty, savory, "umami" flavor over the tobacco. The salt went away after a short bit replaced by a distinct but not overpowering peppery and spicy profile that was wonderful. I was highly impressed with how good this was so "young," a real joy to smoke. Stayed that way down to the nub when, for the last little bit, the spiciness faded off and it was a stronger tobacco flavor, with a bit of a (mild) nic kick, but never harsh. If you have a roach-clip, you would use it.

The only thing to say "negatively" is that it was not complex. After the saltiness faded off and the spice and pepper took over, it stayed that way until the very end. My older D-4's show a lot more complexity and evolving flavors with more wood and floral notes coming in and out.

So, yeah, I bitch about it being an amazingly, wonderful, cigar but not changing at all throughout the smoke! LOL. Seriously, this was great, but I am sure these will get even better with some more time.

A certain intertent company that has many Cigars from the island of Cuba, including may famous HABANOS such as COHibas and COHiba related items and cigars that have a similar profile to COHibas is having something of a sale at their .com location on the Party Shorts -- 2 boxes of 25 for $265. Still not as cheap as they once were, but not bad under the current conditions.

These are the folks I have been using recently for such things and were I got my above-reveiwed D-4's which were on sale a while back.. Never had an issue with them or trouble with shipments except a couple years ago when my free gift they sent customers got stolen in customs! Alas, the D-4's do not seem to be in stock right now

Has anyone ever had the Partagas - Chicos? These are small machine-rolled cigarillos. 100 of them for $105 includes shipping. That makes them even cheaper for my go-to short winter (and guilty pleasure!) smokes -- Parodi Kings.

Yup, from what I have seen the police around here have been de-funded. Instead, I expect a call from a social worker to ask about my upbringing and home life and to see if I have been ever offended by anything ever in my entire life that might have led to such socially non-normative behavior.

Besides, I can always flash my Platinum Card! :)

I went and grabbed a box of the Party Shorts on "sale." since I was getting low on them and I know I like them, and taking a chance on the Chicos, The reviews I have found are pretty good. That is is a classic Cuban smoke, even more authentic/traditional flavor than many current offerings -- just in a 20-min or so, machine-made, package. So, I figure if they are anything close to that, I can smoke 3 of them and have an hour of real CC enjoyment for $3!

Well, we will see
