Yeah, homeowners insurance is going up over two hundred dollars a year, prices of every day items are going up, this will farther increase the the gap from the have and have nots, just bought a “new” car 2016, good credit and income but still couldn’t get an interest rate below 7%? insurance is still over 500 dollars a year just on that one vehicle….

Good for some, not so much for others.

I hear it’s a good time to be a car dealer….

Supposedly Ford and GM are cracking down on over invoice pricing. Inflation has been very good for our net worth.

I don't have any debt other than a few hunnerd on a credit card for plane tickets.

What bothers me is the situation that we are handing down to our kids. They are the ones who will inherit and have to pay the price of the F-ed up situation that we have allowed to happen.

So true, in so many different ways.

Drive truck, used to be able to write that off come tax time…. But as a company driver they got rid of that. Being gone over 230 days a year that was a massive write off…..

Here in Texas, we have laws to protect car dealerships. You cannot buy direct from a manufacturer. These are the guys that are adding hundreds or thousands of dollars above MSRP - cause they can.

I looked to order a car from a manufacturer. Get this: I can order on line direct. They will deliver it to my home titled though another state - and I get to pay FULL sales tax to Texas when I register it.

But Tesla cannot have a store in Texas…..

Big Oil kinda owns the state. I know they own the state govmut.

Not sure what their angle is on the car dealers. Course its the big money family’s that own the dealerships.

I know Big Oil has squashed EV’s for decades. GM is a great example.

Crypto is a wild ride. Have a little sitting in on it but not much. Just in on some more "stable" ones like ETH, ADA, BTC. I just let it ride. It's super volatile and +/- 10% swings weekly are not out of the norm and not for the fain of heart.

I agree, I'd like to see more EV's on the road but they have their limitations. I think their foot in the door might be short stints in local travel (say a couple hundred mile range round trip). Not sure battery tech will get much further than that unless a break through happens. We should research a small nuclear energy power system that can be strapped on our back and teleport from place to place. I've seen a prototype on TV. I think it was on Netflix and some infomercial called Star Trek.

Hard to bet against oil or natural gas (coal has been banned from use). In my life time internal combustion engines will still reign supreme. Oil still runs the world. You can't heat your house with solar panels. You can't transport large volumes of goods (cargo ships, semi trucks) with batteries.

Beyond using oil for it's trapped use for energy...
Look around your house and tabulate how much plastic and petroleum products you have around... it's all is made from oil.
What are you wearing? It's prolly around 50% synthetic fibers made from... oil.
The shoes on your feet... made from oil.
From your trash bags, your tuperware containers, your drinking straws, your oven, microwave, insulation in your house... all the way to the plastic trash cans that you use dispose of these items .... all made from oil.
The oil that is used to lubricate gears in any moving part... made from oil.
The dashboard, seats, upholstery, insulation around the wires for electrical connections, body parts in any vehicle including EV's are made from... you guessed it.. oil.
The bottle of water that you are drinking from... made from oil.
The computer that you are typing on and the screen you are seeing it on... yep... made from oil.

Oil makes the world go around.

One thing oil doesn't help with is being a food source. Hemp is the world's premiere food source.

Car dealerships being legally able to price gouge consumers is insane. Though I must note that you do choose to live in Texas. It is not a state my conscience would allow me to live in.

The thousand dollar gas guzzler tax is a bit extreme, I went with the 5.7 hemi instead of the 392 to save a few 💰 though.

Petrochemicals will always have a home in manufacturing goods. No worries.

You can heat your house with solar panels. Google home powerwall.
Tesla is going into production with semi trucks - EV’s.
Amazon is going electric for delivery.

I plan on ordering and EV in the next few weeks. I’ll let you know how the 350 miles of range and home changing work out.

I test drove one of these EV’s a week or two ago - It kicked the azz of an ICE car. Just sayin’

True. My Wife feels the same way.

But Azzholes are everywhere. We just have more in Texas for the time being.

Maybe once we kick Cruz and Abbutt to the curb. I mean someone has to do it….

Inflation is not good.

It is almost always caused by idiotic gov't decisions. In this case... handing out free money to lazy asses and idiots who were ALREADY on the dole... and forcing those that wanted to work to stay at home.

FACTS.

My wife isn’t very bright. The other day she was at the store, and just as she was heading for our car, someone stole it! I said, “Did you see the guy that did it?” She said, “No, but I got the license plate.”

Let's say you live on a fixed income with COLA each year, don't owe much on your home, don't need a new car and aren't inclined to travel much and have a retirement account that is doing well over the long-run. Inflation, theoretically, would not hurt your income. Your house will appreciate and the market basket of goods and services you purchase will have a considerably lower inflation rate. A little inflation can be a good thing under the right circumstances.
