I grew up with that as a hard fact, and though it is true that tats themselves are considered, for lack of a better word, illegal, like other broken laws of the Torah it does not automatically mean exclusion, as I was taught decades ago.

However, as I recently learned (staying with the brilliant OP) individual cemeteries/Synagogues can have that as a rule.
Or have a separate burial area. Or not.

Just so strange to believe something for 60 years and find it isn't written in stone...

We used to get tidbits #1 or #2 at a local Chinese restaurant when I was growing up.
An array of "Polynesian" appetizers designed with the suburban American palate in mind.
Chicken wings, spare ribs, pork strips, fried shrimp...very close to a Pu Pu Platter.

I only very recently learned I had been wrong all these years, and I am still sort of hoping that your post is correct.
Not sure why, but I do.

Leviticus 19:28

There's no exclusionary burial laws in scripture though.
Those are laws of men.

Apparently, as lengthy as the Torah is, there just wasn't enough in it to argue about. As a result, rabbis have been making additional rules and laws for centuries... And arguing about them for just as long.

One thing I value about Judaism is the profound responsibility to question all aspects of the faith and teachings. As an example, those who wish to convert just as a rabbi to teach and guide them through the process, but the rabbi Tells them "no" three different times before he accepts them as students. That way, they really question the decision and have to decide to commit.

Also, to Frank's point about knowing something until you don't know it, i was a grown damn adult before I found out you don't really have to wait 30 minutes after you eat to go swimming. Yeah. The rest of the dive boat had a good laugh that day.

Learned people in the northern third of the USA should smoke their cigars differently in winter vs Summer.

Slower in winter as the moisture in the cigar expands, popping the wrapper when turbo puffing.
In Summer, smoke faster as the higher humidity makes it go out if not well tended.

Have certainly never though about it. During those rare, 45 degree winter afternoons, if I go outside to smoke, I smoke fast. Mainly because it is 45 degrees.

I just learned that that a local priest has baptized babies for the last twenty years using the word "we" instead of "I" during the ceremony and all are now considered by the Catholics as not baptized. Oh the humanity!

I'm not Catholic but this is why I just don't think too highly of organized religion in general.

There was a third Apple founder, Ronald Wayne. He sold his 10% stake in 1976 for $800.

I can now forgive myself for selling Netflix for $16 a share 15-20 years ago.

[email protected] says my MacAfeeTotal Subscription has expired.

I didn't know that I had a MacAfeeTotal Subscription. This is some knowledge that I recently acquired.

There's a link in the e-mail to click for easy renewal. I bet if I follow the link and provide the information needed to renew this previously unknown subscription, I would be overwhelmed with a bunch more of Recently Acquired Knowledge.

Crows can memorize human faces

Wildlife biologists figured this out by conducting a simple experiment using rubber masks. A "caveman" mask, for example, designated a "dangerous" face while a mask of former Vice President ****** Cheney was "neutral." Researchers in the dangerous mask trapped and banded individual American crows and then released them. While they were careful not to harm the birds during trapping, "it's still a scary experience for the bird," Swift says.

To see whether the crows remembered the dangerous face, researchers returned to the area and walked around wearing the different masks. And when the birds saw the dangerous face, Swift says, "they would alarm-call, they would dive-bomb that person." The neutral face was mostly ignored.

The gender or body type of whoever was wearing the dangerous mask didn't much matter — the crows seemed to key in on the face. Researchers even flipped the mask upside down to see if the crows could still recognize it. "For a brief moment, the crows seemed a little confused, and then they would just tilt their head upside down and then they'd start an alarm-calling," Swift says.

Even crows that hadn't been tagged or banded scolded and dive-bombed the wearer of the dangerous mask. Swift says this suggests the crows "were actually learning from their peers that this particular person is dangerous."

And if you need another reason to be nice to crows, they can also remember faces for years.

corned beef in original New England Boiled Dinner...

"Before it was available in every supermarket in cryovac bags, cooks had to cure their own, submerging the beef for weeks in a brine made from salt and gunpowder (the latter contained in shells known as “corns,” hence the name). "

So let it be written... so let it be done. 4 lb corned beef brisket, 6 small golden taters, 6 small carrots, half an onion and a small head of cabbage stuffed into da crock pot. Dinner will be ready at 6pm.

Also doing a couple loads of laundry. I don't have a fancy driving gig like 8track, so I gotta do other stuff to stay busy. Whistle

Watching the movie In the Heat of the Night (1967).

Movie takes place in 1966 Sparta, Mississippi. It is a real town, but not the town the movie was actually filmed.

Ironically, it was filmed in another Sparta. Sparta, Illinois.

Always thought a vehicle either had Shocks or Struts.
Turns out some vehicles have both.
Shocks are a 'couple hundred" to replace. Struts are over $1,000.

Watching Blue Planet.

We have very little knowledge of where Blue Whales travel... and no idea where they breed. And they are more than twice the size of any of the dinosaurs... so the largest thing to live on the planet. Now or ever... and they feed on one of the smallest. Plankton.

Strange, but true.
