Sitting here smoking a Great Cigar Blended and Branded for my local B&M got me thinking that i would love to try some Cigars from other B&Ms around the country that i might not otherwise get to try or think about finding. My local B&M has several brands blended and manufactured by major companies such as Altadis and Perdomo so here is my thought...

https://imgur.com/a/or080Ox

Similar to the other PIBs going my idea was to send a 5 pack (all the same or different blends if the shop has more then 1) of these store branded/blended sticks. once sent, post up and ask someone to send you the same from a shop near them. this way our B/Sotl get to try out different blends they may not otherwise get to try.

Adding in a Business card for the shop in case they do online sales and the recipient wants to order more later would be great as well.

Post up here if you are interested in this idea!!

I love the idea. I'm in. I'll pick you up.

Edit: I'll probably need a good week to get it out the door though.

Francisco will be here rolling his usual assorted mix for us next week.

Haven't had him in a minute due to covid so it'll be nuts!

DBL will always have our Founding spot but Aganorsa has a welcome 2nd runner up spot for unicorn house blends.

You're on to something here drglnc.

There are lounges I have scored some special treats from

SOB had an event only JSK that I may have 1 more of

great idea drglnc...

there used to be a couple of local rollers who sold their cigars at small shops in LA County...not sure if they're still in business, but if they are, I'll play...

That shpo does have a few house smokes too. Can't vouch for them personally yet, but some of the regulars say they're purty good

We talking a house blend made and labeled for the shpo by a major manufacturer or a house roller/blender or a custom roll made by a traveling roller/blender?

I have some of each in this area. This is how I started following a little known guest roller/blender in 2003. He was just passing through town appearing at my local for a day. He had spent many years in Cuba and knew very little English but he would make you a custom blend from mild to full as you requested. His name was Pepin Garcia.

Sometime later that year a shpo in my area started selling a new line that was blended by him and I liked them. They were called Tatuaje.

My initial thought was for store branded sticks that someone might be able to get again (all be it with some internet/phone work since they wouldn't be local) if they really enjoy and to maybe support some Local B&Ms around the county.

With that being said i certainly don't wanna bog this down with 2 many rules so i am fine with some one offs/guest rolled stuff as well.

Sounds good, Once you can get to it post up that it shipped and ask the question just like in the other threads. I may even need to send you a little return fire just for kicking us off and getting the ball rolling. Herfing

This is a great idea but... the only local blends that are rolled in my area are still illegal in most of the USA. No local cigar shops but we have one (and maybe another coming) cannabis dispensaries. I can't provide input on how the taste since I don't participate and I'd prolly be tossed in jail if I tried to mail any out to anyone.

The nearest smoke shop it about 45 min away (http://www.owlshop.com/) but I don't think they have house blend cigars anymore.

If I remember correctly Pepin and/or Camacho use to roll some house blends for them. They do (or did) have a wide variety of in house blended of pipe tobacco though. I haven't visited the shop in years but word of mouth is that it's not the same since to old man passed away and his younger son took over the business.

My local has one blend but it’s 56 ring. It wasn’t bad but not really the type of thing I’m into so I figure maybe not for others either. I’ve got some house rolls from other small companies. Might follow to see how this plays out

I'm down with this. There are a bunch of H-Town (Houston, TX) only blends I've recently discovered. One particular shop here has like 8-10 H-Town lancero's. I just bought around 5 of them recently. The Nomad one I smoked the other day was really good.

very cool idea!
Early on when cigars first became more of a regular thing for me, I frequented a site based in St Louis called something like todayscigar, they offered a different 5 pack every day so I got to try all kinds of smokes without a heavy investment...they are loooong gone.

But I got to know someone from Sacramento who sent me an array of shop rolled cigars. Wish I could recall the name, there was a blend I recall lking that were dipped in or somehow infused with cognac...something like that. Maybe I'd hate them now, but those were really tasty to a noob.

I'll pick up Lee. Fair warning, I haven't tried one myself yet, but have heard from a couple regulars they're pretty good. Also they're unbanded, so no commemorative label for you. I will try to get some info on them though as far as origin.

If that sounds good, let me know. If you'd prefer to hold out for an offer for smokes actually tested, I won't be offended

Well, The first Shots have been fired!!!! First a HUGE thanks to LEEBOT for helping us get this thing kicked off!!

Lee's Package arrived yesterday and holy hell did he kill it! Lee is from the Philly Area so lease local smokes came from SJ Cigars.

The line up Cuban Stock and Crown Vintage branded sticks
CS Extra Havana Lancero
CS Extra Dominican Maduro Lancero (Currently smoking this one while i write this note, more on that in a minute)
CS Royal Selection Sungrown Toro
CS Royal Selection EMS Toro
CS Private Selection Maduro Robusto
CS Crown Vintage DMS Toro
CS Classic Maduro Corona Gordo

Lee also included a mouth watering batch of "hitchhikers", I greatly encouraged the same for all moving forward but not required and as i want this PIB/Trade to be about the local shops/Cigars and not about the bombs and extras i wont list them here and ask all to do the same moving forward but DAMN generous and greatly appreciated.

Now more on the current smoke that is going into the air.. oily wrapper with a sweet hay aroma prelight. Medium/Medium + flavor , slight pepper/spice tingle but its smooth and creamy. Very pleasant and although i am only 1/3 into it at this point i can def see myself picking up more of these next time i am in the philly area.

From the From the SJcigars.C@M site The Cuban Stock Extra is composed of 100% Dominican tobacco grown from 100% Cuban Seeds. It’s phenomenal flavor can be attributed to the specially fermented filler, binder and wrapper as well as its six year oak barrel aging. Finished with an oily, mocha colored wrapper, this premium cigar delivers a delicious, peppery smoke that you must taste to believe. Taste profile rivals Camacho, Perdomo and Liga Privada

Cuban Stock seems to be a very small boutique brand with limited distribution (no direct sales) but SJ seems to have they east coast market cornered for these from what i can tell.

Stay Smokey all and let the games begin!!!!

Lee, it took entirely too long and there aren't any shop specific Tats involved, but local sampler + a couple heading your way

9500-1122-7711-2043-4476-93 ETA Wed

I also tried the shpo I don't usually go to. Asked about house smokes or exclusive blends and the girl says, "These are all our flavored cigars rolled in Chicago. Cherry, strawberry, caramel, etc." I thanked her and walked out. If you're looking for a fruity dessert cigar, I'll gladly go back for ya

SOB's package arrived safely and securely on my doorstep this evening, and I'm stoked.

Looks like some VERY interesting cigars. Unique.

2 maduro/natural barberpole belicosos (that's what I'm calling them).
2 maduro/natural/candela barberpole toros, AND
2 double perfectos that are half natural (lower half), and maduro on the upper half. I love double perfectos and can see one of these getting ashed up pretty soon.

All unbanded.

He also sent some killer extras that I'm looking forward to. A very generous hit, very nice!

The only problem I see is that it doesn't look like any of them are strawberry or cherry flavored. ???? Not sure what you were thinking sending me extra cigars that aren't even in production anymore when you had could've scored some fresh caramel flavored smokes. But I'll live.

Somebody pick up SOB.

Oh, and I'm outraged that you haven't posted a list on the PIB/wants - Non-elitist thread

Am I allowed to mention the retailer per Cbid rules? Would it be a violation of the rules if I said something like "the cigars SOB sent are from The Golden Leaf, and they have stores and lounges in Chesterton, HObar, and Michigan City, Indiana. I checked out their website, and looks like it would be a nice place to smoke."

They don't focus on online sales, so I would assume OK, but I'm not the official word. They are pretty nice though and each location has a different vibe to it

My usual spot is the HOBART store. Though now I really wanna have a smoke at the Ho Bar

i think naming the shop is perfectly acceptable. it lets others try them out should they choose to do so.

Nice HIT SOB!!!

Sitting here having another of Lee's sticks. The Cuban Stock Classic Maduro Corona Gordo is quite tasty with some iced coffee from the Garage home Office.

SOB, Send me your Addy and i will pick you up. Heading out of town for the long weekend so will try to get it in the PO before we leave but should be able to have it in the Mail by Tuesday the latest as i have already picked up the selection in preparation.

Didn't think my stuff was overly fancy originally. Now I'm intrigued

Tonight I pressed the General Manager for some info about Lee's smokes. I was told they were sworn to secrecy about the blender, manufacturer, and the leaf included. She did indicate that it was a name they deal with regularly.

My guesses based on that are either JSK, Perdomo, or DE. No way to know for sure.

Boveda bags suck. Just sayin. That tab falls off. I left an review on that place that everyone is prime. Boveda did send replacements. They fell off too. I burned the bags in my wood stove outside.

Yeah. The bag is nice and thick. The closure sucks. I guess if you were to just fill it and never open it it would be fine. I smoke out of every storage solution I have so they don’t work for me.

I used Freezer bags for a few years. A cheap Sistema container works great as well. 10-15 bucks with a locking lid and gasket. not pretty but gets the job done. my Humidor is actually 2 52 quart igloo coolers, a Sistema and a DE/DeadWood 40 Count Pelican i won at a Puff N pint event.

I hear ya, but currently 2 - 30qt coolers, 6 - 7.4qt sealed plastic containers. Around a dozen shoebox sized disposable tupperware, 4 - wooden humis at 250ct, 120ct, 100ct, & 50ct.

I've got workarounds. Recent spike in influx, and oddly enough the Jaws theme playing continuously in my head, are gong to require a wee bit more working around

Some sterilite type food container I found on Amazon

Search "Sistema KLIP IT Rectangular Collection Food Storage Container, 236oz"

Chosen for their ability to fit in a set of drawers I have that Mrs Beach doesn't snoop around in. Also, 7.375qt technically. I rounded
