And you ESPECIALLY can't by doing the same thing in the opposite direction.
This one is very simple.
You want it to "be right" by going backwards.
I just want it to be right.
nothing new to add, but that never stopped me.
If you read what I have said, I was clear that I am not accepting the role of explaining nor apologizing for reverse racism or reverse discrimination, so I am not speaking in favor of Biden's preconditions.
I did express the opinion that our majority here would have reacted in similar fashion had Biden simply picked her or one of many qualified who just happened to be black/female/gay/Asian/Native/Scandinavian/physically deformed/Floridian or whatever without conditions. I'd never believe the criticism would not be the same as we are experiencing as it is.
I've also pointed out that there wasn't this kind of anguish when Reagan and Bush did similar things when they tried to get credit for making the opening moves to fix it. So that's a factor that has been ignored in this attack.
I've asked repeatedly what can be done to make it, for lack of a better word, "natural" to have qualified people chosen without the color of their skin or their sexual orientation or their gender being a rejection factor...which it has inarguably been for 250 years...or we wouldn't have this thread. Or this being historic.
All things being equal, things are not equal. Never have been.
To say it's going backwards due to intentionally picking from groups that have been excluded from the onset is scrambled logic. It's tantamount to insisting we ignore all that came before and allow it to continue, accept the prejudice in charge rather than do
something to make things fair., better than fair, make things better..something that would actually be a benefit to all Americans if we took the best from more than one race, one gender, one religion, one (fill in the blank).
But we don't. And it's not by random chance either.
To me, "going back" means leave it alone...or am I missing the real meaning of MAGA? What period in our history was this done correctly that we should be aching to revisit?
I'm actually with you, ideally, in that forcing in the way Biden is doing is racism or sexism, or some kind of negative ism, but we part ways when you idealistically believe it'll just be that the cream will rise regardless of color...eventually.
If it was you doing the waiting, you might be getting a little impatient after two and a half centuries.
So how can we accelerate making it right without hurting others?
