News says peeps are drilling a hole in car gas tanks and stealing it. Seems like a bunch of work for $40-50 esp with a catalytic converter right next to it.

First Tony your small stature lack of hate is your opinion and yours only..........I beg to differ

Second that I am a loud mouth or a moron is once again your opinion and yours only Tony

Third ,a treasonous attitude.........wishing ones state, especially Texas, could separate from about 35 other states that only ride in the the cart rather than pull or push is a dream,a dream of which many here would gladly join in down here and proudly take their Texan oath with a smile.

Tony please stop injecting your hate and small minded opinions in every thread I am involved in.Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated......... the lack thereof will just give me more opportunities to point out your lack of sanity and fill of hate.

Thank you

Ditto...........no one said these thieves were smart.I know a dude who runs a mobile magnet for picking up and loading scrap metal........he told me when he pulls up and there's cars in the scrap haul,he'll make more off those catalytic converters than the scrap price of all cars combined.

I'm just waiting for one of these idiots to go up in flames drilling that tank..........will the family sue ???????After all they did leave the bait right out there for the taking.

Down to $4.04 at WAWA central Florida today.
Driving down to Boca Raton for the day tomorrow. Won't be buying any gas there, however. They have a $.50/gallon city tax on gas!

Gas had gone as high as $4.39. The local station came DOWN (?) a couple of pennies yesterday - to $4.37. Still expecting it to hit between $5 - $6 before summer.

I haven’t charted gas prices but it’s over $5 for Regular at all the local places.

Couple weeks ago I started filling up, regardless of tank amount, every time it was convenient to pull into a gas station. Wifey didn’t see the logic of that but when she saw the $5 mark, she kinda understood.

Remember when you pulled up the pump and three guy came out to check your oil, tires and windshield, gave you green stamps and drinking glasses, etc and had gas wars with the other stations?

Check the oil, wash both windshields, and even thank you for your business.

My first “real” job was at a Texaco station. Squeegeed many windshields. The guy I worked for was convicted of murder and sentenced to life a few years after I quit.

The minimum wage did away with all that capitalism.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Clearly the rising minimum wage did away with young gas station attendents first which ushered in self serve which cost nothing and did away with person customer service.too. Government intervention and dicktates in the economy always screws the young and working poor first, not to mention the consumer..

self serve gained popularity by late 70's or early 80's as I recall. Maybe not every state but probably the vast majority.
Saw my first few before 1970!

It didn't happen due to the need to combat rising minimum wage, it was a way to eliminate that particular wage altogether.

Adjusted for inflation blah blah blah minimum wage may have actually been worth less over the 20 years or so that self serve pumps started to dominate the industry.

No self-serve allowed in NJ. By law you can't pump your own gas. Don't ask me why - but that's been the law here my whole life.

There are (where?) a couple towns in MA where self-serve wasn't allowed. Milford was one of them. Worked in Milford for a bit and was caught off guard when I pulled in to get gas and couldn't find the slot on the pump to insert my card. Guy came out and told me that I can't do it myself. This was a handful of years ago, it might have changed by now.

It’s because people in NJ aren’t competent enough to pump their own gas. They would just be spraying it everywhere.

just filled up with 87 at nearby BJ's.
regular price was listed at $3.939, already 10 to 30 cents per gallon lower than locals are charging, but I noticed on my receipt yesterday I had a 20 cent per gallon reward thingy.
Never was one for going out of my way to save 10 cents a gallon before, I mean save 1 or 2 dollars to fill up? Meh.

But this deal ended up being maybe a half a buck a gallon, and I was already there...

$3.739 was what I paid.

Gas here from 3.729 to 4.539 with some stations having the CT gas tax removed and others waiting to refill with untaxed gas.

$5.41 on the base... which is usually in line with Sam's or Costco.

CA has a law which regulates how much lower the base can sell gas to eligible patrons. Anyone surprised by this?

This make no sense in the long run. Removing the state tax will only decrease the budget for roads which will need to raise taxes or raid the general funds. Sounds like Demo logic.

here in MA there are like 3 GOP state reps.
They proposed suspending the gas tax until the ppg went to $3.70.
Cited the fact that MA is drowning in tax cash and stuff.

The GOP Governator (whom I like) agreed with a bunch of Dems and said it would mess up sumptin to do wif bond ratings.

other than the usual jerks, almost every station in my town is below $4 for 87 octane.
Some below $3.90, saw one below $3.80.
