Pssst! DRG, the post office lied to you

Do I get a breather? Perhaps a moment to reflect on the decisions I've made that have brought me to this state? Maybe just a quick moment to freshen up? Oh no. The PIB gangbang that is now my life continues to rail on.

I nicely packed SFR awaited my return home from work today. Inside I found a handful of smokes from the Castro Bros.(no not that Castro) owners of Davidus Cigars out Maryland way.

NH these of course:
Breakfast Bliss - corona sized - blended by AJF and the aforementioned Castros
Reposado - toro sized - another AJF blend. Claimed to pair well with tequila. If only I knew somebody that really likes tequila
Civil War Series, Antietem - torpedo - RP blend from Honduras. Claimed to be strong. Challenge accepted
Hobson's Choice - robusto but a chubby one - Perdomo, like the Champagne but binder is aged longer
Isabella (no, not that Isabella) Cameroon - torpedo - This one's Oliva related with one of the rarest wrappers around
Lord Baltimore - robustoish/toroish - Plasencia, claimed to be the original Nic Habano puri that's regular production

Now this would have been fine. But no, word had gotten around that SOB is cheap and easy, and some hitchhikers wanted in on the fun
AF - 858 Mad - great smoke
Rm 101 - Miami Snow toro - NH
Avo Uvesian Maduro toro - NH
Torano Exodus 50yrs robusto - always liked this one. Nostalgic throwback to my early Cbid days
Flor de Ybor City maybe the no 85? - NH

Many thanks, Charles. It looks like your shpo has quite the hookup for interesting house blends. Looking forward to trying these as well as hitting up the tagalongs. Really need this winter nonsense to wrap up so I can catch up with the incoming fire

SOB, glad they made it earlier. The Torano, 858, ybor, and the AVO all have minimum 5 years rest. The room 101, not so much (maybe a year at most). Hope you enjoy!

Deadeye, thanks man. I will keep an eye out for the mail man!

So, this everning I smoked one of the cigars SOB sent over from The Golden Leaf (remember it has a location in HObar? ok fine, Hobart). It was about a 5x52 or 54 (ish) double perfecto. When I first saw these, I thought they were half natural and half maduro, but it was more like 60% natural starting at the foot, and the last 40% maduro. It was good. I would buy it.

The construction was excellent. Great burn, perfect draw. The natural part of the cigar was a fairly light color, maybe even Connecticut. It had a nice hay/woodsy/creamy taste and good body. When it transitioned to maduro, it traded in the woods and cream for coffee and some sweetness. I burned it to the nub until I started worrying about my fingers. Nice smoke Dan! If you don't like yours, you know where to send them.

Noted. Glad it was enjoyable. I was worried initially, but was more hopeful upon learning all of the info about them was classified.

Didn't taste like a typical Nicaraguan profile to me. Maybe had some Nic in it, but my guess is mostly tobacco from somewhere else - DR, Honduras.

I'm pretty terrible at telling where tobaccos come from, but Nicaraguan to me usually has a charcol(ish) taste (not in a bad way). This didn't have as much as that.

Currently enjoying the Cuban Heirloom - Cigar King in Scottsdale by Perdomo Very solid stick, Lots of footsmoke, great medium/full flavor. Little creamy, very smooth. im not great at picking out specific flavors but this is tasty. just a tiny touch of pepper on the finish but not much.

I got the package from Clint on Saturday but just getting around to posting it up. A nice selection of special lanceros from his locals.

Namukubi Ecuador H-Town
Nomad Godfadr H-Town
LFD
Four Kicks LE H-Town
Luciano TD
Quesada Selection Espana H-Town (if it's anything like the long lost Espans coronas this will be spectacular)
And one corona gorda sized no name with a moose on the label, closed foot, very dark and intriguing!

Looks like I'm in for some fine sipping on these as soon as they are stabilized for a few weeks. Thanks much sir for the chance to try some fine looking cigars.

Now who wants to pick up Clint and keep this moving?

All those lancero's are H-Town exclusives.
The moose label is a Nomad - Chocolate Mousse (6x46 skinny toro)
Enjoy!

Well, maybe this idea ran its course faster then expected. I thought we would get more interest but i guess only a few of us are into this type of thing.

Clint, Send me your Addy and i will pick you up and close the circle. Can have a BOTL getting stuck. May take me a few days to make it to my local but ill get it is the mail Monday at the latest.

I bet it’s more that some of us don’t have house blends near us. I can come up with one single cigar. It’s a 56 ring and only decent. I like this thread though it’s a cool idea

I'm fine with letting this hang around for another week or 2 to see if anyone else wants to jump in.

guess that's true as well, maybe we (I) just need to have more patience on this thread then the others since it is such a small market.

I just smoked two of the lanceros that Clint gifted me this weekend. Two very different reactions.

Luciano TD H Town
It looked great but from first puff to the last it seemed tannic and acidic. Could have waited much longer for this one to stabilize in the humi I guess. This is the first Luciano of any vitola I have tried. Not sure if this was an anomaly or representative of the Marca.

Four Kicks LE H-Town
I really enjoyed this smoke! Started smooth and refined, picking up notes of cinnamon, leather and spice while gaining intensity and tea notes on a long finish. Winner so far.

Thanks Clint.

Sorry about the Luciano. I actually have not tried that one yet. Still resting. Might let it rest a bit longer based on your review lol.

Yeah the Four Kicks is good. The Nomad is probably my favorite of the ones I sent u though. Herfing

Thanks SOB! i offered to pick up Clint and just close it out but he didn't want me to have his Addy (no stalker i promise).

if no one picks you up after then send me your Addy and i will close this out for us since interest seems very limited.
