Yes, they say you can rob and kill more efficiently when there is no opposition.

can only speak for MA (due partially to the C-Bid Law of Proximity) and how it relates to right wing postings here.

Things run pretty well in MA. Tons of opportunity, well regarded schools, zillions of highly regarded Universities, one of the best places in the world for medical care, arts, culture...pretty much at the top of of the list of places offering what most humans regard as defining a high standard of living. Not uncommon for a moderate Republican to be Governor either.

Of course there's a down side, and as I often say A Deal is Only as Good as the Down Side. High taxes, but this life style ain't cheap. The rep of taxachusetts is way out of style too as I think we are ranked closer to the middle of states than to the top in taxes. Should be less government too. And I am against mandates, though I could see a time when everyone might be for them, but it would have to be for something unthinkably threatening...getting away from my point.

If you can live with the down side, take the deal. Obviously I am taking the deal, but I'm not blind.

Not blind, but also not pushing to get rid of opposing political views. Not calling the GOP or conservatives any insanely whacky names, not assigning bizarre charges such as pedophile, Satan embodied, cannibalistic, immoral reptiles.
Name calling i sfine, but there are a bunch of nuts who mean it literally and are some really scary angry righwingnuts who think God is whispering in their ears.

I just think those more normal types of conservatives are often wrong, but not subhumans who deserve horrible, painful, torturous lives.

I'd like to be rid of the dangerous fringe on both sides, but I mean by voting them out. I don't like Ayanna Pressley much more than Marjorie Taylor Greene.

I can speak for California (proximity rule). The democrats have made an absolute shithole of this place.

Crime, taxes, homelessness, taxes, traffic, taxes... and yes, I realize I've said taxes 3 times. CA is at the top.

I did not attend his funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it.

OK, that is a reference. The problem is that I would read it on the internet, apply the method, and it would be true. But then, I could possibly read another internet article claiming the contrary, apply the method, and the converse would then be true.

I'm gonna have to go Schrödinger here and conclude that the quote is undoubtedly from Mark Twain while also having absolutely originated from some other dude, possibly Axl

So we can correlate that All Gore was the father of all truth in the world, both inconvenient and otherwise.

Yeah, why not? Gotta pick someone to credit/blame.

On another but related note, we need to blame Jimmy Carter for his failed attempts to implement the metric system here in the states. What a bass turd... trying to get us to get us on board with the rest of the world on a standard system of measurement.

Can you imagine the gall of that stupid peanut farmer? Who wants a tool box with a single set of standard sized wrenches, hex keys, sockets when you can have two different sets where each of them are close but not close enough and lead to stripping one or the other when using the wrong tool.

True.......I work in the water industry in Texas.About 90% of what I do is in metrics, much easier math I assure you. That other 10% is a mix of imperial and metric measures......... Milliliters per gallon crap in 6-10 digits.Schit that sends you to your desk with pen, paper and calculator, where as in all metric conversions I can do that stuff in my head.I think Texas did this just so we operators will not forget the imperial system and how to do math that takes a half hour and 3 pages.

The one thing some backwards farm boy ALMOST accomplished...............kind of fits right in with his entire 4 years of almost.

nonsense.
I was being told we would be changing to the base 10 metric system since elementary school (1959 to 1965)

Not long after we did make many drink companies switch to liters and stuff (liquor, bottled soda, etc) but never really made a wholesale change.
Carter wanted to take the next steps, but it was hardly his idea.

NASA lost the Mars Climate Orbiter because the software on the Satellite transmitted in metric units and the ground software was written to use the imperial system.

Not saying it was Carter's idea. I think it was a good thing that he tried to push us in that direction but we were too entrenched/arrogant to do so.

My take (valid or not valid) was that the US industry was entrenched and arrogant with sitting on the Imperial/English system. Add in the monetary costs/time/inertia to convert over all the tooling, machinery, even down to simple stuff like sign posts and mile markers, football fields (10 yards for first down or 9.1 meters)? Baseball field, 90 ft between bases or 27.4 meters ... all of that stuff would require a change to the metric (SI units).

I'm all for a decimal system it's easier to work with.

Metric: 1 gram of water = 1 cc at STP
Water freezes at 0° C and boils at 100° C not 32° F and 212° F

With that said, I still use my rule of thumb in that 1 inch is roughly the length the tip of my thumb to the first knuckle. 8" is the span of a wide extended hand from tip of the thumb to the tip of the pinky finger.

3 feet is the distance from to frank's groin to the ground.

The signs of excessive indulgence in this destructive pastime are easily detectable. They are these: a disposition to eat, to drink, to smoke, to meet together convivially, to laugh, to joke, and tell indelicate stories—and mainly, a yearning to paint pictures.
