I'm a huge Torano guy, its been years since I sat down and sorted through my collection. So since Torano has become such a pain to find, can anyone give me some good cigars to expand my collection with.

Big fan if Perdomo, Torano, and CAO. Any tips would be greatly appreciated

I wasn't aware they were hard to find. There's 33 lots of Torano currently for bid. Not to mention the Perdomo and CAO lots are legion.

I'm also not sure where to guide you. I don't see any of those three as having an overly distinctive and recognizable aspect to them Do you prefer milder or stronger smokes? What kind of wrapper do you gravitate towards? Maybe take a glance through the cigar discussion threads and see what people are enjoying.

Now prepare yourself young stompaho, for there's a storm on the horizon. There will be demands to smoke better cigars. Some may present strange and new variations to your username. Keep in mind it's all done out of love.... kinda.... sorta.... mebbe

New Toranos are like licking the bottom of Jonsie’s shoes after a long dumpster diving session.

They used to be so underrated.

Ah yes, maybe I should’ve clarified. The Torano cigars have been narrowed down to 4-5 cigars. With General buying out years ago, who knows how long they’ll keep them.

I like a mild smoke. Not super picky with the wrapper but I love a 4-6 with an even smoke. Just looking to hear opinions on cigars that maybe similar or an upgrade!

To clarify, I’m 100% a newbie when it comes to cigars. Grew up around them, from a tobacco growing family but finally starting digging my roots into the hobby.
So even suggestions on some new cigars would be extremely helpful!

Have you sent a pm to MACS? He's the assistant manager of the department at CI that does new cigar testing. He should be great for some flavor
& body suggestions.

I've got a couple of friends that have gotten into cigars since I started (about 10 yrs ago). When they ask me for 'suggestions' where to start I generally give them the following list to try:

1) Macanudo Cafe
2) Romeo y Julieta 1875
3) Oliva Connecticut Reserve
4) Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne
5) Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva
6) Ashton Churchill Claro
7) Drew Estates Larutan Natural
8) Padron 1964 Anniversary Series
9) Rocky Patel Connecticut
10) La Aroma de Cuba Immensa

Pricing on these will vary - but this should give you a nice variety from which to choose.

Not my go to wheelhouse, but in the mild/med range, I would recommend trying:
Man O War - Legend or Virtue
Hoyo de Monterrey - the original blend, Hoyo Excalibur, Hoyo La Tradicion
La Aurora - Maybe avoid the ADN Dominicano for now, but otherwise tends to be med/mild
Oliva Serie O or Serie G
Drew Estate - Undercrown Shade
Arturo Fuente - Most any blend
Southern Draw - Rose of Sharon
Padron - Damaso
Illusione - Epernay, Rothschild Connecticut, ECCJ, Candela

*Disclaimer: All suggestions are IMO and YMMV

Anyway, I have to agree with SoB and Mike, if you like mild(mostly),you won't go wrong

with those. I'll add a couple of the mild(mostly) cigars I like.

Cabiguan

Cusano 18 year

Guardian of the Farm

and the new? Espinosa/Guy Fieri blend, Knuckle Sandwich(natural)...in the red box

Have fun, and Welcome to the AsylumBeer

as you can see, lotta good recommendations for mild cigars...here are two more: San Cristobal Elegancia and Ashton Classic...most have Connecticut wrappers...

you can move up the strength scale, and the flavor scale at the same time, by trying cigars with Ecuadorian Habano wrappers...these are all medium strength full flavored smokes:
AVO Heritage,
Fuente Casa Cuba and Rosado Sun Grown,
Sobremesa,
San Lotano Oval,
Drew Estate Herrera Esteli, and Las Calaveras
several Tatuaje Monsters,
Tatuaje Havana Verocu
Room 101 Hit and Run, and Master Collection 3
Camacho Ecuador,
AJ Fernandez Last Call and Enclave
Crowned Heads La Imperiosa
My Father (lancero is my fave)

The Torano is a very nice Medium ish cigar. You'll have to watch the auctions but the Rocky Patel Edge Lite is consistently fabulous cigar and often can be gotten at a great price.

Also another is the Undercrown, and Gilberto Reserva.

It is fun to try some different cigars.
