Mayorkas, Struggling With Border Surge, Spent $72M to Stop Trump Wall

Homeland Security chief Alejandro Mayorkas on Wednesday defended the Biden administration’s handling of the border crisis and said DHS has spent $72 million in costs to shut down construction of former President Donald Trump’s border wall.

( there's money well spent)

“We inherited a broken and dismantled system that is already under strain,” Mayorkas said during a hearing before the House Appropriations DHS Subcommittee hearing Wednesday. “It was not built to manage the current levels of migration flow.”Customs and Border Patrol have encountered 221,30 million illegal immigrants at the Southwest border last month, totaling nearly 1.06 million for just the first half of fiscal year 2022, according to data released by CPB.

DHS released more than 80,000 of those migrants, raising the total number of illegal immigrants released under the Biden administration to 836,225.

Republicans have voiced concern about another surge with the Biden administration’s announcement that it would in May end Title 42, the public health policy put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic that allows authorities to expel migrants from crossing into the U.S.

Does everybody in this administration have the same book of lies blaming everyone else but themselves for the results of their idiotic policies?

OK, I know...stupid question.

Do you ever notice that EVERY administration that comes into office all says the same thing ....... the ENTIRE system was broken before we got here now WE have to fix it. As if the country hasn't been operating for 250 years without THEM?!?!?!

I think a point needs to be explained to the Biden administration. Unlawful entry is not migration or immigration, it is a criminal action. Also boots on the ground does not cut it for myself. Create something similar to the Korean DMZ, get caught on American soil you get sent to the DMZ.

We are having a chilly spring so far and I still have a ton of lettuce in the backyard. Romaine and a salad blend. We can’t eat it fast enough.

If you’re eating that much lettuce I fear you’ll have a protrusion instead of an intrusion.

Lettuce, spinach, and other salad greens don't mind the cold and thrive in cooler weather. A mild spring frost at night here in the North doesn't bother them much at all. Easiest stuff in the world to grow. No lettuce pickers needed.

Rabbits can’t get to my lettuce but robins fly in and devastate my blueberries unless I get them netted. Same issue with my grapes. My tomatoes get attacked by rats. I could use a few more owls and hawks flying the creek bed behind my house.

Nothing messes with my peppers!

We've got rabbits and white tail dear in this neck of the woods that gobble up anything in our veggie gardens. Unfortunately we can't just shoot them and toss them on the grill! Chef

same here. I live on the edge of Blue Hills Reservation in MA in a neighborhood known as Deer Park.
They love my hostas, and some kind of critters eat my tulips and stuff.

I think it was Burner02 who suggested Liquid Fence Deer and Rabbit Repellent a couple of years ago. It has helped quite a bit.

Is it shooting specifically? You could always trap and slice if you're so inclined

To be diagnosed was the hardest thing because I didn't know what they were talking about... And the doctor said, "Don't worry, in three months you'll know." So I went about my business and then, one day, it jumped me. I couldn't get up... Your muscles trick you; they did me.
