Trying to decide between a Denon DCD-600NE and a NAD C538. Close enough, price wise (...Denon is $30 more...) and spec-wise but don't have any prior experience with either brand.

https://www.crutchfield.com/g_53100/CD-Players.html?&o=p&fa=1#&nvpair=FFBrand|Denon&nvpair=FFBrand|NAD&price=390-1000

Which one would you recommend for my home stereo? And why. Think

Also very open to other players of similar quality and price.

I went with Denon when I pieced my system together. Can't recall the exact model right this second, but went with it after an extensive perusing of various reviews of different brands and models with a focus on performance and reliability.

About 5yrs in and it's worked out well so far. Runs 2 tower speakers, 4 satellites, a center channel, and 2 subwoofers with no issues. Also had a wide array of input options for various devices

After reading more reviews, I’m leaning towards the Denon. Mechanicals seem solid and very few DOA stories.

The Sony receiver I recently bought has been fine but wanna see how it pairs with the Denon CD player (…if I indeed buy it…). Who knows, might get a Denon integrated amplifier down the road. Anxious

Oops. I didn't pay attention to detail. All my babbling was relative to a receiver/amp. I can't speak to CD player specifically.

I've got all Pioneer stuff from the late 80's, paired with Bose 601's. Everything still works.

I've heard only positive things about Denon. Not familiar with the other brand.

No biggie. One of my best h.s. buddies also confirmed that he's had a good experience with Denon as well as Crutchfield (...probably where I'mma gonna buy it from...). Also found out that there is an authorized Denon service / repair dealer in Hawaii so that kinda sealed it.

I did have a fleeting thought of getting an older (..."vintage"...) Sony CD player (CDP-508ES) from eBay since I was very comfortable with the construction, controls and programming but nixed it after really thinking it through. I mean, what's the point of getting an old player with old technology and parts that will, not may, be an issue at some point in time? Better to just go new.

My first cassette deck was a Pioneer CT-4141 that was a solid unit. Sold that to get a Teac 450S.

When I bought my speakers, it was bundled with a Pioneer integrated amp, SA-8100. I loved it until I went to work for Sony and then upgraded to a TA-F555ES. For S&G I Googled the 8100 and they're going for over $1000 now! Crazy!

Pulled the trigger and ordered the Denon from Crutchfield. They weren't the cheapest but my friend's firsthand experience with their CS tipped the scales and I figured it was worth the extra $30. Didn't get the extended warranty though...maybe I should have? Think
