Blind Review 2022

We missed the Spring Blind review that we have done in the past. So, I am seeing if there is interest of doing one now that we are fully into smoking weather.

If you are not familiar, this is how it would work….all participants would be paired up with another cbidder. Each would send three cigars with the labels removed. Those three cigars should be an everyday smoke, a GOOD smoke, and then a “top shelf” favorite. To round out the 5er, two more cigars of their choosing…could be a local one, small batch, new release, etc.

After all three reviews have been posted, the actual cigars will be revealed. It is a great way to get out of your comfort zone.

Please respond if you would like to participate.

Still have questions…look/search for previous iterations.

I think I’m required to participate so that I throw a random old no longer produced cigar at someone that they have no chance of ever smoking again….

She had a video of her unpacking the box from Celtic from their nOOb / Vet trade. (S)He never turned the phone around so no facial glimpses but the hand doing the unpacking was rather large. Gonz

Package landed today, Stinger. I take it if #1 is the tall one on the left, #2 & #3 follow left to right?

Along with the good looking mystery smokes the other "2" to round out the "5er" were:
Tat Frank (I think?) Skinny Monster Cazadore - If so, NH. Still working through the monsters set
Cohiba Maduro 5 Genios cc - NH actually I think the only other Kooban Cohiba I had was also from you back in the day
Partagas Serie D No. 4 Tubo cc - one of my favorite CCs
Tat Anarchy Apocalypse '12? - NH and you're just spoiling me at this point

Dam nice set of smokes, David! Many thanks to you.

Also appreciate adding the screen name to the return address. Kept me from mixing you up with all those other Gulf Breeze Davids I know Frying pan

Son of a…….

Am I doing this wrong? I just got my ass handed to me lifting a medium flat rate off the porch.

First off nothing is broken all is intact. SOB decided to include some local wares: chocolate covered espresso beans, salted caramel chocolates, reggae hot sauce, Bold Betty coffee stout, and of course Deze Nutz peanut butter porter. And cigars!

Three fancy labeled cigars with a bonus Nomad Signature and a 2021 Asylum NINE coffin. Been eyeing those at the shop. Very nice hit SOB and thankfully my congestion is clearing I will get to these very soon!

Glad they made it, and you're not doing it wrong. I just recalled local wares being part of previous years so I rolled with it.

Cigar #1:

6x50 toro with a rustic maduro wrapper that has some small veins, a fair amount of mottling and oils and one small crack (due to a small stem underneath). It has two caps, preflight is fermented bread and an almost cherry tastes.

Initial tastes after lighting are SA wrapper and red pepper in my nose on the retrohale, I’m having second thoughts about doing this in the morning and not having a cigar for a couple weeks.

Ok this has settled in, strength has passed for now, and I’m wondering if I’m wrong about the wrapper it may be the blend. It tastes like a mixed country blend, there may be Nicaraguan tobacco but this tastes more Dominican and the bunching technique looks familiar. Still getting that fermented bread which is weird after being lit, and oak and bitter coffee notes. So far not an unpleasant experience but not an morning cigar.

Final third is showing some sweetness which is a welcome change to the profile and the morning cigar experience. The oak has gotten a little earthier. Draw has been excellent, burn has been flawless.

Overall I’m confused, the start had me thinking one thing and I wasn’t enjoying it but it certainly got enjoyable and if I didn’t know better I’d guess Fuente but which I don’t know. Wrapper doesn’t seem dark enough so it’s probably something else. Thanks SOB this was a good cigar.
