I am not sure why this story on Fox News caught my attention (possibly the "pinup" part), but wow this lady's story is an incredible testament to what a person can do if they really want it. The picture at the end of the story (knowing the beginning) showing her with her beautiful family really hit me in the 'feels'...

It is a sign of the times. Only FOX ran this story. CNN and MSNBC should have. Anytime a homeless person thrives that is an American success story.

So true, Spey. She was not just homeless, but actively discarded by her mother in favor of her abuser... Knowing that about your own mother at 16 years old is unimaginable.

If CNN or MSNBC ran the story the title would have been:

“Homeless American Teen Forced Into Warfare by the US Navy - Still Bears the Scars”

I know you are right... Sad. Just glad this woman didn't just survive, she thrived.

unquestionably inspirational and she deserves nothing but accolades. I appreciate being made aware of this.

I'm thinking making it political detracts from the message, though.

I just get to feeling like there's a pebble in my shoe when I read attached political thoughts that aren't part of the story and really aren't even true...out of the zillions of stories like this one every year, not each individual one hits the editors' desks of all networks/news publications etc. But there's an assumption so-called liberal media passed on this one for some reason.

And pretty much every night of the week other networks often close news broadcasts with these type of heart warming, inspirational stories too...and it's likely the one they've covered may have not been known about by the competition.

I've seen countless stories featuring veterans who overcame unspeakable horrors and injuries to accomplish mind boggling things.
Just as neither side owns morality, neither owns passion and patriotism for the USA.

Just one man's opinion.
