Some great advice on buying appliances:

What Washing Machines to Buy or Avoid (Top Loaders): 02:04
Front Load Washers to Consider: 07:43

Refrigerator Styles and Brands to AVOID: 15:06

List of recommendations:

Bens Appliances and Junk

I've been asked hundreds of times "What appliance should I buy if I want it to last longer than what I already have?" Well, here you go. I decided to discuss this if you'd like to take 20 minutes to get some ideas.

DISCLAIMER: Everyone has different experiences with different brands and models. This list isn't exhaustive, nor perfect. I tried to list models that, in my OPINION are going to last longer than others, while not being unfathomably expensive like machines you'd only find at a laundromat that require hardmounts or really oddball requirements.

Models mentioned or referenced in the video that I'd buy if I needed new appliances. I am having trouble linking to most Appliance Connection products, so here are links through AJ Madison:

P.S. Cleaning your dryer vent and refrigerator condenser will increase your appliance's life span considerably! Consider buying a cleaning kit, too: https://bit.ly/3zQGFYK

yes to his recommendations of the following: LG washer and dryer and Bosch dishwasher. We have both and they have been solid and reliable. I used a few sources to make the selection, but primarily went with Consumer Reports.

We have also been very happy with the Kenmore Elite reefer, a French door, bottom freezer model, bought 12 years ago and has only needed the ice cube maker replaced. Among top rated reefers in CR.

We also use the Viking double oven, first bought in 2010 when we did major renovations to our Downey house, and then again in 2016, when we moved here and did a minor kitchen renovation. No issues with either. Consumer Reports rated Viking ovens highly, but did not recommend due to high cost, but other sources attested to its quality and reliability.

I only buy appliances that look like pigs with marital aids stuck all over them that speak German.

I'm unfamiliar with the Kenmore strain of reefer. Sears must be trying to boost their bottom line

It's in the post, the important thing is the make/model information, then buy where ever you wish.

as recently discussed, Speed Queen is da ballz. Metal parts, not plastic, home version is basically commercial grade.

Also, bought a very quiet Kitchen Aid (made in America) dishwasher a few years ago.
Noticed that several friends who bought back then complained that their stuff was never really dry when the cycle was over...I poked around and found that most of the market no longer offered the heating element while claiming the real hot rinse water combined with rinse agent (Jet Dry) did the job...but it didn't.

Kitchen Aid had a model with said element, and knowing a little about water hardness and stuff I also knew our water did not require rinse agent and would dry with heat without leaving water spots.

Sometimes old school is still a better product.

Took delivery on Tuesday of the LG washer with agitator listed above. Very well put together. Quiet, balanced and efficient. The Mrs. is very happy. Happy Wife, happy life.

At our last house we had to get a new dishwasher right before we sold. Got the KitchenAid. Great machine - wish we had that one in the new house. Far better than others out there. When the current one (Viking) gives out it will be replaced with a KitchenAid.

Actually started looking at washing machines on the list, we've needed one for a while... still haven't bought one yet, we're slackers.

One thing about dishwashers, they need hot water to good job of washing. We've had a Frigidaire, leaked and ruined wood floors, an expensive Electrolux, very quiet, but required the periodic replacement of a $450 pump with an attached sensor, when the sensor would go bad. We have an excellent local appliance repair shop, my wife asked the repairman what brand he did not get many calls for, Bosch was his recommendation. Quiet, not quite as good as the Electrolux, but does the best job of cleaning, by far. The SS tub is very nice too. I thought the racks were flimsy, but they hold up just fine.

If it's still working, keep that wallet closed.

Indeed.

Water quality is a big factor as is hot water.

I'm about to lose a fight over a new refrigerator. My wife wants all the bells and whistles. I want a box that keeps things cold... Who needs a TV screen on a Fridge? Apparently me.

Could I though? You just taught me how to post animated GIFs on our group text and you all regret it.
