Who is this guy (LB of East longmeadow, MA) that continues to put in these initial high bids? I thought the object of these auctions was to buy odd stocks of really good cigars at a discount price. This ass goes out and bids a price which is 3 to 7 times the initial price on autobid. Does he work for Cigarbid.com or is he a dealer who thinks he is doing himself a favor by putting in initial high bids?

perhaps with the new system being employed by CI, the person may have meant to use auto bid putting in a bid of the most he/she would pay, but instead of scrolling down on the auto bid feature, scrolled down on the bid amount feature. At one time there was only one scrolling device, CI automatically put your bid in at the lowest price then you used auto bid if you wanted to, but let's give this person the benifit of the doubt before we start tossing around insults.

I agree with aberdeen. I thought the same was true when first bidding on this site. That you put in the most you would pay then your bid automatically adjust by the icrement set until it reaches your top line. I found out the hard way when some guys got their product under my price for alot cheaper....needless to say I figured out quickly how this thing works. Maybe a friendly post will help educate those not so familiar with this process.

Did not mean to offend. I am new to the site and it seems intuitively obvious to me how to use the current system. I just know that about 75% of the new lots listed for auction are bidded on by one person with these high bids, and he/she rarely ever bids a second time when he/she is outbidded.

Hopefully, the new method will offer some relief. I agree that it is not a perfect system, but overall is the best I am seen on the Web.

I've also noticed Mr. LB and his bidding. About one week ago he was bidding on all items of several lots on display, thereby setting all other bidders back to start all over. Since he was not using Auto-bid, all he generally did was pissing off other bidders, which made other than myself into using the comment feature, which in itself is almose useless since there's a very little limit to the number of characters you can use. Let's hope LB is with us "on the line", and that his behavour was due to unexperience.

well there is a solution to LB. If he just starts out by bidding a very high price, with no autobid, just sit back, bide your time. When the auction is about to close, if this price of his does not beat your high price you have set in your mind, make you bid, if you really want to be cut throat about it, wait until about a minute before the auction closes. Without autobid he would have to monitor every movement of the auction before it closes. This may teach him the advantages of using autobid. With autobid you don't have to sit around at auction's end and worry about being over bid. I put in my maximum price when I first bid, not a bargain price that I hope to win at, but my personal high price I would bid under all circumstances. Then if I win at a lower price, great, but if someone at the end of the auction over bids me, what do I care, I wouldn't bid a penny over what I already bid.
