I was on the campus meal plan the first year. Figured out I could feed myself for half so I did and pocketed the difference.

Never had student loans until Biden.

Certainly, college is not for everyone by any means. I firmly believe that we need to invest in post-high school education for non-academic trades and professional should be available with student loans (just like college students). Our country will benefit from it.

Robert, your socialism is showing. "we need to invest"?
You sound like Biden, everything the government "invests" in (unconstitutional of course) with stolen loot is a benefit to America. Nothing could go wrong with could that? Not like the predatory evil free market with all those price-gouging capitalists around every corner. I think Celtic told me that.

Amazon workers can strike. Police and public safety can not... there is a difference. And not allowing employees piss breaks? C'mon, man... that's against laws already in place, bruh.

Can they strike? People living paycheck to paycheck don't have a lot of wiggle room especially when a multibillion dollar company is doing everything in their power to prevent a union from forming. There are laws that say Amazon isn't allowed to interfere with their workers right to organize but, C'mon man... we know the laws already in place don't mean much when you have billions of dollars and an army of lawyers vs a bunch of people making $15 an hour, bruh. The issue is never black and white.

Ironic.

The government is helping a select group by bailing them out of their federal loans.

And simultaneously they are allowing kids today apply for these very same loans.

I'm not an economist, but it's obvious to anyone who understands how things are priced that this will actually result in even higher college tuition.

This is a democrat ploy to gain votes in the midterms. It's blatant. And Biden needed to bastardize the HEROES act and use COVID as an excuse to pull it off.

Other than that, it's just peachy.

But Tail...what about the po people and the children? We must invest in the po people and the children by bailing out upper-class woke and reliable DEM voters. The Marxist children will heap praise on Dicktator Biden for his caring selfless generosity and for disregarding that stingy constitution again. As far as the rest of America that will be forced to endure higher taxes and inflation...LET THEM EAT CAKE!

there was a certain amount each of my kids could get year to year, maybe the Pell thing? Stafford? I don't remember.
I paid the difference, left them each with roughly 10K, but I also told them each what I would pay based on the cost of state schools like UMass Amherst etc.
Told them anything above that they'd better get scholarships from the private schools they desired to attend.
One ended up going to UMass Dartmouth.
One to UMass Amherst.
One to Westfield State.
I paid damn near the exact amount I figured!

Filed financial statements each year to determine if and what the kids were eligible to get.
But I got them off campus ASAP once eligible. So much cheaper to pay rent and let them figure out how to create meals on budget than pay the schools to do it all.

Tuition was a fraction of overall price of schools.

Frankie... my boy is like uh genius. He could have stayed home and used the CA CalVet program. 100% tuition for state colleges for children of veterans... if they earn less than $10,700 (in 2007). So basically if the kid stayed home and worked part time and earned less than 10.7k... free tuition in ANY CA state school.

Kid says... nah, man... I wanna move out. Ayite, pal... I ain't paying for sh*t. You thumb your nose at free tuition, and pop thumbs his nose at you.

However... kid was smart enough to use pell grants and other gov't grants to pay his tuition. Many are based on your grades. He's wicked smaht, so... he's got paid.

Still... woulda been a fu--load easier if he listened to me. Dumbass.

Mr. Jones....whenever there is new stolen loot being released into the economy by the government, there will be corruption as criminals, both government types and non-government types find their way to get some. Both parties for sure have been involved in monumental scams.
One extra-constitutional heist is as good as another and will be titled with some euphemistic name, whether it's done by congress or a criminal dicktator like Biden, a constitutional crime has been committed. I wouldn't be so sure that this "money stays in America and helps law abiding Americans". A heist is a heist, is grand larceny different and excusable depending on who's getting the stolen goods and who is getting robbed?

"STUDENT LOAN S ONLY $300 BILLION" Don't be gullible, when has any government heist ever been limited to its stated number? Besides, if DICKTATOR BIDENS' action is allowed to stand, expect much more DICKTATES in the future to follow this precedent..

Curious what the interest rates are.. had a loan years ago but I don't remember.. I could see forgiving interest but not the principal... Mellow

Some of my kid's private loans were as much as 12% before they refinanced at like 6%. My son's guaranteed loan for this semester was only like 5%. And, he'll pay every penny of it back much earlier than most.

The interest rate on my loan is about 3% (if I remember correctly). It's a federal loan that the gave me last school year.

The way it works is 0% interest while in school then the interest and payments kick in after a 6 months (maybe 9 months?) grace period after you stop being a student (graduate or drop out).

I'm still not sure if this loan forgiveness thing is a real deal. I don't understand how the Pres can just sign away personal debt like that. It's just not right on many levels.
