My wife and I went to Italy just prior to the Wuhan shuffle.

Without repeating details, it was the best trip I could ever imagine. We went Rome and north.

We were planning on heading back spring or fall of 2023 and doing Rome and south: Amalfi coast, Naples Pompei, etc.

But I got a bug in my bonnet over Spain. Somehow Zuckerburg keeps sending messages to me about Madrid and Barcelona, et al.

So now I'm torn. I know both (either) will be spectacular. But I want to hear from someone who has experienced both. Or even just Spain, since I've never been.

Should we go to Spain and eat paella?
If so, specifically where?

Gracias.

Don’t forget the ham and wine….

Personally I’ve never seen a “Bloody Italian” here so I’d go to Italy.

I haven't been, but my cousins are there now and their photos are spectacular...Alhambra, Mallorca, Ibiza, Madrid, Barcelona...

when I can convince Kelly we need to do the traveling we spoke fondly of in our youth, Spain is at the top of the list, next to Greece and Italy

Do spain....
And Portugal....
Absolutely gorgeous...
Several Spanish dialects spoken...

Been there several times on "other peeps" credentials...

Lots of international intrigue during those trips back in the early eighties...tracking down the Nazi escape pipeline route and getting names w/ destinations....

Then it was rat-atat - tat time in several Argentinian beer gartens months later with British sten guns and ArGenTiNiAN hi power knockoffs...I never carried so many magazines as in those day/days...

Well, I never been to Spain but a buddy of mine and his wife went there a year or two before Covid and they absolutely LOVED it! I believe they went to both Barcelona and Madrid.

My take - since you’ve got the bug, go to Spain. Otherwise, if you never get there, you’ll always be wondering “What if?” Brick wall

Well, I never been to Spain,
But I kind of like the music.
They say the ladies are insane there,
And they sure know how to use it.
They don't abuse it.
Never gonna lose it.
I can't refuse it.

Their football teams are about equal.
You’re welcome.

Following. We are right in the decision phase of booking a Viking cruise for ‘23. Choices are narrowed to Spain & Portugal or Italy with a French wine country being also considered.

Never been there but I’ve been to Oklahoma. Well they tell me I was born there but I really don’t remember.

I haven't visited either country, but if you're a foodie, Spain is for you.

Took an extended surf trip to Hossegor (southern France coast) in summer/fall 2004.
Took side trips to northern Spain, on the coasts, etc……….fantastic areas.

Been to Europe many times in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s………for both work and pleasure.
Favorite areas are Munich, Zurich, outskirts of Salzburg, Venice, the Ticino region of Switzerland/Italy and the Hossegor region in France.

I’d vote Spain…
